while I might leave specialized surgeries to smaller, more specific focused vets, I love this vet. They are prompt, to the point and swift. Also, very reasonable. Routine things which are common in cats; teeth cleaning, spaying, declawing (if you do that), shots, urinary infections, even issues with bacteria and fungal infections and eye problems, they are great. I do consider my cats like family and if I needed a specialist, I would go to red bank, but these folks are great for what they are...true that they have room to grow in the bedside manner department, but animals don't hear words, they only recognize our tones and repetition. So tell me quick and straight up, like pulling off a band aid.

I've been going to this vet since 1978 with many cats & dogs over the years. It's not a fancy vet - it's very run down. That being said, I have had great experiences with them. They have taken great care of all of my pets from the most mundane visit for shots all the way to surgeries. They are originally a full-service farm vet - they treat horses, ducks, geese, rabbits - in addition to cats & dogs. They see animals as a part of your family - but still *animals* (for instance, they won't suggest thousands of dollars of surgery on a 12 year old large dog - because, practically speaking, it doesn't make sense; they will send you to a specialist in Red Bank for a younger pet who needs something specialized). I suspect that the people who don't like this vet want the type of vet who coddles and cajoles and has fancy decorating (and costs 3x as much as Hopewell Vet). If you go there over time, you'll decide which vets you like the best. I like Bud Stults and Ray Hostetter. Dr. Stults is particularly kind when you have to put a pet to sleep, very calming and understanding. They are, overall, not ultra-polite. It can feel a bit impersonal, but identify which vets you like there, and you'll be happy with the care and your bill.

I should have listened to the reviews on here before booking an appointment for my two cats. There prices are the lowest for a REASON. This was single-handedly the worst experience I've ever had in any medical facility (and I work in the medical field). Although my appt was confirmed the morning prior, I was not on the schedule when we arrived. I was quickly added, and brought into an exam room COVERED in animal fur. I understand that to completely remove all animal hair is nearly impossible in a veterinary office but my younger cat (who was hiding under the table) was laying in a pile of white fur. Additionally, he got covered in grease that was on the hinges of the table. My cat who was on the exam table was difficult to handle (to say the least) and they proceeded to place him in a bag in order to give him vaccinations. No questions were asked of me, no interview process was given (THIS WAS MY FIRS TIME THERE). Weights were not taken and the names of the two cats were switched on the paper work when I checked out. I ended the appointment before they could get to my second cat, because at this point I was traumatized by the experience. My cat on the table was screaming, two techs in the room didn't ask me to leave or anything. I asked them to stop, and told them I would be back with the carrier to bring them home. I arrived back in the room and my cats were left in the exam room unattended! I then proceeded to walk both cats to check out where I was charged $70 for a wellness EXAM--which was never given, and two vaccinations--which I only saw one injection take place. (all the while still crying). I was NEVER spoken too, never even MET the veterinarian, and had to drag my carrier to the parking lot, having been offered no help.

After all of this ensued, I called and asked to speak to an office manager, I was reassured I would be called back, told that the circumstances that took place were unacceptable, and have been waiting over a week to hear from anyone. I will now be requesting a full refund and reporting this facility for neglect and deplorable conditions.

DO NOT EVER GO THERE.

Do not take your animal here! They have absolutely no professionalism and do not care about your animal's health and well being. I had what I thought was a minor issue with them last year. I tried to get meds online and they refused to fax the online provider an ok to order the meds. So, I got my dog his shots and had them write me a prescription for the meds. End of story or so I thought. I took the half hour drive down there to get his shots for this year. The very old woman behind the desk motioned me over and said " Apparently, you were not happy with our services last year, asked for your records (which I did not), so we closed your account. " I reminded them about the meds mishap and that I did not want to close my account. She told me to wait a minute and she would see if the vet would consider treating my dog. She came back and said he would not. I told them they were very unprofessional and walked out. If they cared about my dog's welfare and if they did think I was unhappy with the services they should have tried to rectify the situation. I even recommended three customers to these so called vets. Knowing my dog needed his shots and meds and they just turned us away shows they could care less about animal welfare. I will be filing a formal complaint.

The surgery performed on my dog's lump was successful. However, naturally I was concerned if it was malignant. It was suggested I not have the lump analyzed because the treatment would be hard on her. She is 12 years old. While there for surgery and under anesthesia they cleaned her teeth and her ears. She has been deaf ever since her deep ear cleaning. I was told only 1 other case was experienced and her hearing should return in about 6 months. After some time I took her back regarding her ears and the vet clapped loudly by her - no response. I was then told it could take 9 months. It has been almost one year and my dog is still deaf. Staff is very busy and wait is long. Not too much info forthcoming - if you don't ask you do not know. Vet was kind enough to give me e-mail which I used a couple of times. All in all staff is too busy to want to spend too much time. So not I am left with a wonderful companion who is still deaf. Considering legal options. Not using hospital any more.

Although the vet that came out to see my horse was amazing, the office staff was the rudest bunch of people that I have ever met. I stood at the counter for 10 minutes waiting to pay my bill while the two people behind the desk stared off into space and did nothing. When they finally decided to help me they were impolite and slightly hostile. They also do not take credit/debit cards. When vet bills get high, as which they tend to do, credit cards are the most user friendly for both customer and business, it's just impractical not to be able to use them.

I was in a panic on memorial day and called animerge only to be told that no surgeon was on duty for a week (she was on vacation) so I remembered that my sister in law told me about Hopewell Vet. Group so I called, of course they were closed but they had an emergency # to call so of course I called and to my surprise the most reassuring Dr. was on the other end and knew I was so upset but he put my mind at ease (my dog had a screw coming out of his leg from surgery he had 2 year prior) and said he would be ok and told me to come in the next day while they have walk in hours, so we did and they put Bandit out - took out the screw (my husband was also allowed to participate) and the whole procedure took about 15 minutes and did not take us for broke unlike the vets we have in Bridgewater. I will be taking my dogs to Hopewell Vet Group from now on, EVERY vet could learn some valuable lessons from them especially about compassion for the animals and the owners, they are the BEST!

I had actually made an appointment with another vet in my town. I informed my co-worker about my appointment to take one of my cats to get neutered and shots. She recommended this vet office to me. She takes her dogs here and mentioned they were friendly and had reasonable prices. She called right then and there and got a quote that was $145 cheaper than the vet I had already made my appointment with. I cancelled my appointment and made one with Hopewell Vet. I was very pleased with my decision. The receptionist was friendly and courteous when taking my information. The hospitality did not stop there. The doctor and his assistant were more than happy to answer any questions I had and explained the procedure to me. They even allowed us to stay and watch the procedure so that we knew he was is good hands. They also explained the potential health risks my female cat may face if she is not spayed. Imagine my surprise when I went to pay and it was actually $40 less than expected. I am very pleased with their services and will be returning to have my female cat spayed.

In the five years I've been taking my cat here, she has been seen by almost all of the vets, and every one has been professional and gentle with her. They take the time to talk with me about her health and answer the questions I always have. With their regular schedule and walk-in hours, I've never had a problem getting an appointment. Once I took my cat in to ask a quick question about a litterbox problem, and they didn't even charge me for the visit.

Pros: convenient hours, great service

Cons: waiting room needs updating

I've taken my (many) cats to quite a few different vets, and in my experience Hopewell is the best. They give generous discounts if you're rescuing a feral cat, they're very practical and reasonable when it comes to pricing, they have extremely convenient walk-in hours, their vets have loads of valuable experience, and best of all -- they don't hate cats. As a former vet tech I know that many vets are "dog people" only, but not the case at Hopewell. :)

I have been taking my dogs to Hopewell Vet Group for the past few years. I have met with 3 of their vets and had a pleasing experience each time. My dogs are comfortable with them and I am too.

I've been taking my animals to this group for 30+ years now and have been very happy with them. They're reasonable fee-wise and I feel that I've never been pushed into extending any of my animals lives longer than it should be. They've always told me what the options are in a fair way. They have walk-in hours and by appointment. If you're a walk in, you can wait for quite a while because, although they have several vets on staff, they're generally very crowded. (There are worse places to spend your time than sitting with a roomful of pets.) I do have to note that I'm not particularly fond of the boarding accommodations here. I would check them out first before making a reservation.
