They closed up suddenly after the summer in 2014, This review is about three and a half years old, but if you care to read it here goes:

This is the only Friendly's for quite a wide radius, and after seeing the latest run of commercials, I tried it a couple times. They are the classic "family" restaurant - in fact - I'd say they are geared toward children with such an extensive children's menu. It's definitely a lower stress experience when your kids are not the only ones making a mild ruckus during a meal. They will always be in good company at Friendly's.

The selling point has always been the ice cream. and most of the menu packages have the dessert included in the price. Both the first time that I went with my 5 year olds, and the recent time we returned with my wife, the service was pleasant, if a tad slow. I can only assume the adult meats slowed the pace, because both times the kids only got the hot dog / Mac and cheese combo which looked like a microwaved affair. There is also a noticeably younger staff age average. The first time I went I got the Mushroom and Swiss burger that was surprisingly good! I tend to brace for subpar quality in franchise establishments, and it had been more than ten years since we had come to this location, without kids - and vowed to never come back.

I think they must have upgraded from the bare bones portions and unimpressive quality we remembered. This brand is in no way trying to compete with the Fridays or Applebees of the world This is more along the lines of a Perkins Cafeteria or an I -Hop without the concentration on Breakfast fare. The seating is limited, but with kids you should know the off peak hours are always wiser. There is only one entertainment device - a two dollar claw type toy picker (as in the first Toy Story) that allows the child to continue trying until they snag a little plush toy. If there is more than one child waiting, you might as well bypass it. I'm sure the machine becomes available plenty in the course of a meal.

Both times, our kids had to be forewarned and ultimately STILL had to be dragged out without using it. The plush toys are of dollar store quality and that would have been 4 bucks on two toys they would have forgotten about by the time we got home.

We will keep this location in the rotation. It is a pleasant enough experience, but no "wow" factor that would inspire a rush to return.
