This gym is extremely popular with local women. They have a mix of classes and machines in a adequately large and ventilated store front. The female only aspect of the gym makes everyone more comfortable.

I have been going to Female Fitness for over 10 years and totally disagree with "dawnpanties" review. First of all they have a class at 12 and one at 1 on Sundays so to say they close whenever they want on Sundays is absurd. I also go later on Saturdays and the girl always stays open until 4 even if there is only one member there - unless they are on a "holiday" schedule. Yes, the music is loud but it is a smaller gym and they do the best with the space they have. There are other gyms to go to if you are looking for extended weekend hours or a closed in aerobic floor but this gym offers a great class schedule, a friendly staff and I think it's great.

Pros: Great Class Schedule

Cons: Limited Space

I've been going to this gym for almost 2 years now. This place is pretty "OK" in some ways (Having free daycare alone is a PLUS I think) and it IS cheap (at least compared to the fortune that I spent while living in Manhattan...).

BUT 2 things that REALLY bother me about this place are the LIMITED hours....doesn't anyone WORK M-F??? They are BARELY open on the weekends - til 2 PM or 4 (sometimes....on Saturdays) and til ONLY 1 PM on Sundays.....AND if there's no one there at say 12 or 2 pm, they'll just decide to close down early..... so tough luck if you want to go work out at 2 PM some Saturday.... or 12 PM some Sunday...

It's like the weekends are the ONLY time that I HAVE to work out at the gym.....I work 50-60 hours a week in the music biz and have a 2 1/2 yr old toddler as well....I just do not get that policy of theirs at all. It seems like the busiest times at the gym have always been ON the weekends everywhere else that I have ever lived....

Now the 2nd thing that gets me worked up...(and even more than the ltd hours.....) is the deafeningly LOUD techno music that they play for their "aerobic/ (mostly all step) classes" . It is SO LOUD that you can't even hear your own IPOD while you are working out on any of the other machines or training w/ the weights.

The classes take place in the middle of the gym w/ NO walls surrounding that floor, so there's no barrier at all between you working out anywhere in the gym and this really loud + distracting class going on....and the teachers BLAST the music as they scream over the microphone - trying to get the girls "all psyched up".

That would be fine if there were WALLS separating the class from the rest of the people working out.... but there isn't at this place..... I like to hear my own music on my IPOD to inspire my own work out on the eliptical trainer - and I guess that's too much to ask for at this gym.

Pros: Free daycare service, affordable cost for membership

Cons: open infrequent hours, LOUD music during the classes that interfere w/ the rest of the gym
