This store has lots of used, nearly new, inexpensive books. In its new location on Inman Avenue, it has more space than in its St. George Avenue location. Therefore, Melissa G's description of the bookstore is no longer true regarding being a cramped, hole in the wall. With the large assortment of books, I feel its well organized with books being easy to find. And the store personnel is first class!--friendly and helpful. It's my favorite place to shop for used, hard-to-find books. Thanks for providing a much need service to the community. Keep up the good work.

This place is great! It has TONS of paperbacks of every description. But if you are into Mysteries, they have one of the best selections I've ever seen. New and hard to find copies. I brought some of my paperbacks and got credit. The books I walked out with were free. This started an addiction to the store though. Now I give them plenty of my money (and books). A great find for people who love book stores and libraries.

PROS: Lots of OOP books and very knowledgable staff
CONS: somewhat hard to navigate where stuff is..but the staff always helps

Well, not really. But this store certainly is difficult to spot. Hidden away on Saint Georges Ave., the Book Trader is, more or less, a smallish hole in the wall, noted only by a sign of a painted on bat (why a bat? who knows!). However, inside one can find a miniature version of the Strand book store. Musty, old, and forgotten books line each wall, with piles appearing around most corners. These orphaned books are reasonably priced, and it's always fun to dig around for little bound treasures. It's located along paths less trodden, but those are usually the most interesting ones, and this isn't an exception.

Although the store itself is quite small, they have an abundance of books. They have a sort of trade in program where you can bring in your old books, get a credit for them, then get different books from the store with that credit. Some books are cash only, but they're never more than around $3. I love this place because they even have a lot of the books I need for school, so I never have to pay for them!

It's hard to find what you're looking for, but once you do, you can get it for a great price. All books are used, but in decent condition. I prefer buying used books and keeping them for as long as I need them as opposed to borrowing from a library where I have time constraints. They have pretty recent best sellers there too. While it is hard to find something, the people who work there are good at helping you locate things. But if you're going there to browse, with the stacks of books everywhere, it can be a bit overwhelming!
