I have to disagree with the negative comments. I was just there recently and the owner was sweet as pie. She was extra helpful and knew her inventory. If you are looking for a department store with big fancy, neat aisles, then this is not the spot for you. If you are looking for a boutique with unique items and dont mind digging to find a gem, then this is the place! I love little places like these, as I feel like I found a unique item for my daughter! As far as prices are concerned, YES, pricey, but for me, my daughter is little only once, she is so worth it!

This store is awful. The staff is rude. The merchandise is horrible. The only thing going for it , it is in Ridgewood. Not worth it.

I never read a review but after my experience in the store, I found this. The owner ( I'm assuming) was very rude and not friendly or approachable at all. She made me feel as if I was bothering her by being in the store. She never said hello or good bye. I can't spend a dollar of my money with that kind of attitude.

Besides, her rude attitude, the store is over stuffed and small. She has a bunch of nonsense in there, selling second hand at ridiculous prices! Regardless of the price, if you want customers to shop and return to your store you would try a little customer service

The store is AMAZING Anna knows her inventory at all times. If there is something you are looking for she on top of her stuff. I have been shopping there for almost two years the first time I shopped there I had just came there after working out no makeup (a pure mess) and I did not look the part but guess what Anna was a sweet heart! She is a very shy person you have to get to know her. Once you do you will love her! Don't listen to other people check it out for yourself.

So much of what I have read here is based on peoples insecurities and warped perceptions. While Eat Your Spinach is a wonderful place that has so much to offer, it is not for everyone. I have been shopping there for 12 years. Anna is picky when it comes to her customers and God Bless her she can be. Wouldn't you love to choose who you work with all day. She carries a variety of very epensive unique outfits and clothes. As for her only choosing the well dressed big spenders, your wrong. I have bought many things there off the sale racks, more than at full price for sure. She is looking for people that are real and that have an appreciation for quality unique merchandise. My only complaint is that my daughter is not able to fit into much of her stuff anymore and I hate the junk at the mall.

I have tried on 2 occasions to shop at this store. The first time I had my baby (at the time she was 6 months old) in a stroller and the owner told me "no strollers". Um, it's a children's clothing store! Well, I recently tried to shop there again and the owner had the door locked and wouldn't open the door. I agree with the other posters...this is rediculous, and especially in this economy! No loss to me...I also love Denny's in Paramus, and I also love Ginger Kids and The Lollipop Tree (both in Westwood). There are SO many adorable little children's boutiques in the Bergen County area, so it makes absolutely no sense why this owner acts this way.

I was always afraid to walk into Eat Your Spinach because it looked insane in there! However, after receiving some Christmas gifts that I needed to get in a bigger size, I have to admit that I am now a HUGE fan of this place. Some stuff is expensive but worth the quality and uniqueness. Love it!

Looking for something extraordinary and eyecatching for your child, "Eat your Spinach" is the right place to go. Every garment is unique, not from a mass production, comes from usa and is high end quality(1000x washmashine/dryer still looks like new).
The experienced owner reads your child well and emphasizes it's individuality. Careful! You just can't resist the hip, cute, cool outfit! Very AddictiVe!

Laurie, Here's the big deal about the door locking. I am a "decent, congenial" person who was not even given the opportunity to experience the owner's "great service". I tried to enter the store at 10:45 this morning while the owner was sweeping out front. She claimed the store was "closed" because she had appointments. Because I felt the owner was extremely rude, and I had heard horror stories from many of my friends, I decided to do a little experiment. I went to my car and observed for 45 minutes. I went to ask the shop owner again and was told the store"remained closed". I want it to be noted that during the time I observed, there were NO OTHER CUSTOMERS in the store. I guess my Villanova sweatshirt and lack of make-up weren't good enough attire to be worthy of entry. I asked point blank what the store hours were and she said she'd be closed all day due to appointments. As a former educator in the Paramus school system, and a very active PTA parent in Oradell, I have had access to hundreds of moms with small children.I have heard similar stories about this owner time and time again. The owner feels that she has the right based on appearance whether or not to let a customer shop. I believe this is discrimination and am considering getting legal council on this matter. I suggest anyone who has money to spend shop at Denny's in Paramus - -they carry the same brands at a 20% discount - -and provide excellent customer service as well as personal shopping. I just spent $500.00 dollars there.

This comment is directed at Jennifer P. who ignorantly claimed that my original review titled "I'm a Big Fan of Spinach" was a bogus entry made by the store's owner. I really did move to Ridgewood in 1984 from Manhattan and currently have two children in the Ridgewood school system. I have had wonderful experiences shopping for all of my children's clothing needs for all of these years at Eat Your Spinach and think the owner is one of the most genuine and delightful people I've had the pleasure of meeting. Clearly, Jennifer P. is a nasty, condescending person who has no life.

This place may be crowded and overstuffed with kids clothes, but isn't it a good thing when you have so much selection? You can find some really awesome outfits at a great price! Check out the sales room in the back. If you just make time to talk to the owner and ask her where to find the right size, you will discover that she is a nice person who means well. The brands she carries are great quality and you can always find something really adorable for your little ones. I respect that she locks her door for security. What's the big deal if she buzzes you in??

I moved from Manhattan to Ridgewood 24 years ago and have been shopping at Eat Your Spinach for 16 years (as soon as I had children to shop for). It's the only shop that comes close to the selection and great sense of style that you would expect to find in NYC (at a distinctly lower price). Eat Your Spinach is truly a fashion oasis out here in the burbs. The store's owner is lively and delightful. However, if you're nasty or condescending, if you treat shop workers as if they are beneath you, go somewhere else. Its the golden rule all the way at Eat Your Spinach. A decent, congenial person will always experience great service. As for the woman who claimed to have experienced a strange odor in the store, she must have brought it in with her. (What else could you expect from someone who openly admits she collects Beanie Babies!) I'm an avid shopper, and I can honestly say that Eat Your Spinach goes above and beyond all other children's stores. If you appreciate beautiful children's clothing, you're in for a treat. As far as the selection goes, if you can't find it there, it doesn't exist. Happy shopping!

The latest unique designer clothes for children are available. The great thing about it is the fact that the owner will only carry a limited amount of the same clothing so that not everyone and their mother will have it! The owner, Anna, is a sweetheart. She is constantly updating her apparel with all the latest trends and if there is something that you might have seen on-line and she doesn't have it; she'll order it for you and the price is right! Yes, it's a bit crowded in the store, but everything is one of a kind and it's so much fun rummaging through everything. Denny's doesn't come close to Eat Your Spinach!! I'm a compulsive shopper and it's tops!

The owner of this place is RUDE and LOCKS THE DOOR ON CUSTOMERS! There are so many other childrens boutiques in North Jersey that are much more helpful. I am from Ridgewood and have to drive to WAYNE to go shopping for my kids. Teddys Closet in wayne is worth the drive, as is Dennys in Paramus. Any drive is worth not having to give this store my money.

My first and last visit to Eat Your Spinach was unsatisfactory. If you are looking for trendy clothes for boys and girls they do have it. However you will have to do ALL the looking yourself. The ONE salesperson did not even say hello when we entered the store. I initiated any conversation and she never asked or helped me find what I needed. I was looking for t-shirts for my kids but was having trouble finding sizes. The store is overstuffed with merchandise and the floor is filthy. The only positive in the whole store is the amount of clothing and the unique items however I am sure you can find the equivalent somewhere else and be offered a smile and a hello.

During my Beanie Babies obsession, I discovered Eat Your Spinach Boutique in Ridgewood because the shop displayed Beanie Babies in the front window. After many visits, during and after my collection of these toys, I noticed that the items in the front window were left there so long that the sun had faded their colors. I assume that the display isn't changed that often.

Eat Your Spinach is a small, crowded store that specializes in children's clothing and accessories. They definitely offer unique specialty clothes and items. The layout inside the small space is cozy for some--for me, I found it oppressive. The store has, on different occasions, had an unpleasant odor reminiscent of Middle Eastern cuisine that was incongruous with my desire to browse the childrens' items.

I did find some delightful stocking stuffers in Eat Your Spinach for my son's Christmas stocking when he was younger. I have ventured into Eat Your Spinach to search for items for friends' layettes, but found the clothing too flamboyant or unusual for my tastes. The prices are decidely marked up--perhaps for the upscale Ridgewood crowd.

Eat Your Spinach is a fine boutique to visit if you are looking for out-of-the-ordinary goods for children, regardless of cost or the store's unwelcome odor.
