Insider Pages Reviews for University Shell

Ratings_icons Honest, thorough and professional

We have brought our cars to University Shell for years and have always found that we could rely on the advice, the estimate, and the follow-up should we ever have additional questions or concerns. Gas attendants are polite, pleasant and fast.

Ratings_icons Honest and reasonably priced mechanic.

Recently brought both of my cars in for service. Shell performed all necessary service on time for very reasonable rates. Good mechanics don't come cheap, figure 75 per hour, and these guys are no exception, but I didn't get any run around. Nothing about extra expenses, add-ons, needless maintenance, etc. No bill padding or scamming. Reliable guys.

Ratings_icons horrible...

Absolutely terrible business ethics. They exploit the University students and charge outrageous amounts for their service repair. Please spread the word to NOT give this place any business!!

If you are having repair work done, this is a good place that is a short (4-6 block) walk to the University, both hospitals, J&J and the train station. It is easy to drop off your car and walk to work, etc. They are not cheap, but repairs are always at or below estimate and they call you to let you know when your car is ready. You can certainly find gas for less, but the station attendants are polite and helpful should you need directions, etc. Very neat and clean and they are honest-NO repair rip-offs.

Ratings_icons Overpriced and not great

The good thing about this gas station is that it's very convenient to campus of Rutgers University. The bad thing is that they know it and use that fact to overcharge. You can easily save ten cents a gallon by driving one block.
