I love this place. The food is incredible! Especially the eggplant appetizer with roasted red peppers and mozzarella cheese. Seating is comfortable but in close quarters. The bar is always crowded but a great place to meet for a drink.

great meal, but.....‎ - parismom‎ - Today
i was fortunate enough to get a reservation for two at 6:30 last night (1/24/09) with a nice table for two and had a lovely meal. the service was a little slow as there was a party of ten before us, so our order was taken in a "leisurely" fashion, which wasn't a problem for us, as we were chatting over drinks. i enjoyed pasta puttanesca and my dearest friend (for whom this was a first visit to deanna's) had the chicken with gorganzola cheese. coffee and dessert followed and then we were pleased to be offered (without having to ask) a second cup of coffee. no sooner than the coffee had been served, than our waiter came by, with apologies, to tell us that the manager had spoken to the head of the wait staff to order our waiter to respectfully ask us to leave as the restaurant was fully booked and they needed our table!

my dining companion explained to the manager, who was wearing the lovely black hat, that she had had plenty of experience dining out and had never been asked to give up a table, especially in the manner that we were asked. the woman started to say that if we wanted to stay later that next time we could book a table for the second seating, but my friend politely excused herself and drew and end to the conversation.

i understand that apporximately two hours are generally allotted for a seating at a restaurant and i found it interesting that it was spot on 8:30 when coffee was served again and we were asked to leave. if they had needed the table, in their own interests wouldn't it have been prudent to take our orders more promptly so we might have actually started our main course earlier and have been out sooner?

my friend found her first experience with deanna's to be both wonderful and disappointing, as i have recounted above. we will both think hard about coming back again. such a shame.

Had always been a favorite for special occasions and entertaining...until now. Beware that they have a 4 drink limit. My routine is a cocktail before dinner, 1-2 glasses of wine with dinner and an after dinner drink. If the company is good, then I might order a second after-dinner drink as I did with good friends the other night. We introduced them to the restaurant and they are now regulars but even they were shocked when I was told by our waiter I had reached the limit. Be aware that if you share a bottle of wine you are marked down for 2 drinks regardless of how much you have. Actually, the waiter at first said they were out of my after-dinner choice but after seeing our reaction he did finally bring my add'l drink that they were "out of." If you enjoy eating and drinking at your own responsible pace...STAY AWAY! It would be different perhaps if the policy was clearly stated somewhere but they choose to go for the surprise embarassment factor. Note, however, that they will be more than happy to serve you 4 stiff martinis at the bar without food and send you on your way.

Pros: Good pasta, nice specials

Cons: 4 drink limit per customer including wine

This is a place to avoid. With all the picks in Lambertville avoid this one. I had a terrible meal here and the service matched. The bolognese sauce was just a mess. I have never gone back. I may be tougher than some of the other reviewers but you see it doesn't really get many high marks from anyone in other online restaurant reviews.

If you haven't tried DeAnna's Chicken with Gorgonzola Sauce you have missed one of the best dishes on the menu. Her homemade pasta is always fresh and my husband can't have enough of her Bolognese Sauce. Try the Ricotta Cheese Cake for dessert, the best we ever had. Very comfortable seating as long as you don't get the table by the kitchen door. The host is pompous, probably a relative, but we will still go back for the fabulous food.
