I read the other postings here about Avalon Watch the apartment complex where I live and I felt that I needed to post my positive experience. I have lived in a townhouse and multiple single-family homes so I am not used to apartment living. I just want you to know where I??m coming from. I have lived here for one and a half years and although there are some things I do not like I must say that I have felt very at home here at Avalon watch. The rental staff is amazing in how they know who you are! I have been so surprised to be waved-at and spoken to by the rental staff as they seem to know who I am and where I live telling me to ??hang-in-there? during the renovation process because I will be please with the results! I do need to state that the front of the building first floor Master bedrooms (in the buildings that are enclosed) are not too fun because there is a lot of noise with people going in and out of the building and up and down the stairs. Maybe they need to do a different type of stairs or more padding. I live in the two bedrooms plus den apartment so maybe it is limited to those particular units. That is annoying!!! The painted counters are not to cool but they are in the process of renovating so I think that things will change. Okay that was my negative. But, I really love the community. The family atmosphere is wonderful. Having children around really makes it feel like the neighborhoods that I grew up in during the sixties and seventies. To see kids outside on bikes and playing ball is great. During snowstorms we get snowmen made by the hands of these same kids. Anyone who is bothered by having kids around is not seeing the cup as half full. The maintenance staff is superb! I am very happy so far and wanted to say so.

The staff at Avalon Watch is totally incompetent. They told us they had a two bedroom apartment available at a special price so we put a deposit down only to receive a phone call later to find out that that particular one wasn't a part of the promotion. The women working there had no idea what they were talking about. We ended up getting a different one bedroom which is in pretty good condition except for the washer and dryer which ruined half of my wardrobe with stains. The gym is small and always too crowded to actually workout and the pool is filled to max capacity with screaming kids. Besides this, the neighborhood is generally quiet and pleasant. The maintenance staff is pretty good.

My mother broke her hip and had to go to a nursing home in December. Her lease was to be renewed in January. Not only was the management cold and uncaring, they made me pay to break the lease - even though it had not started yet. I guess it hurt to pay, but I did not like the way I was treated.A month later I went to clean the apartment out and realized that they had entered the apartment to check the condition without notifying me. I don't think that is legal. So beware they they will enter your apartment whenever they want without permission. In cleaning the apartment, I noticed that the maintenance was very sloppy. The caulking was a mess, they painted the counter top and oversprayed in many areas. I was also surprised that they are charging me $125 to clean the carpet. Shouldn't that be a part of the make-ready? I feel like I am going to get charged for every little thing--even though some of it should be considered normal wear and tear. I guess the thing that really bothers me is that they take a lot of latitude in what is considered "normal wear and tear." I think the root problem is that in the years that my mother has lived here, the management has not done a good job with trust. Everytime I have talked to them about an issue (which has not been that often), they have treated me rudely. The response I got from the manager over issues is, "I can't be responsible for things that happened before I started working here." I don't think that is a customer oriented answer.

The staff will be nice to your face, but backstab you. They make things worse than they are. They don't give you your notices you've received packages - I've had packages sit over a month before I was asking about another package and found out there were more...yet they did sign for the packages in question (no first notice, second notice, etc.). You may get a letter from their attorney - and if you do - you will also be charged the legal fees for that attorney. You will have no heads up - it will appear in your rent expenditures which you must pay immediately. Grounds are not that clean - there's been glass outside my living area the entire time I've lived here (and there are kids constantly playing around it - that's a lawsuit waiting to happen). Speaking of kids, they run around in the parking lot areas...or ride their bikes...they'll pull out in front of you...the parents may or may not be supervising them...another lawsuit awaiting. If you're tired and like to go to bed before ten - good luck - the kids run around like banchies until the wee hours...and the neighbors run up and down the stairs and bang on doors...and hammer things in the walls (or just hammer the walls - I don't know - maybe they're listening to their music and keeping beat to tunes). The staff blame certain children for things - not even knowing if it was the child(ren) they're defaming. The apartments are old - but not too bad - they DO stink (some rooms smell like stinky body odor)...and there's stuff that drips down the wall - even if you clean it, it returns...somehow. There's rarely parking in the evenings. People park along side curbs...and if you park in the same place too long, they will have your car towed (no notice of that happening either). The activity fee is a scam...who wants to swim or workout in a filthy dirty mess??? Shall I continue??? The police do come to the neighborhood...to wreak havoc on innocent people who've been labeled...or they ring your doorbell again and again to get into somebody elses place. When you answer the door - they act like you're being nosey. Maybe this is typical for rentals now...it's not a place where you can feel secure, comfortable or relax...if you don't mind all that - and if you like bugs - especially those huge black ants - this is the place for you - they have tons of those too.

I don't know where to begin. Cheaply built apts, rude and unresponsive management, NOISE, NOISE, NOISE, kids wreaking havoc in the parking lots at all hours of the day & night. And did I mention NOISE... walls and floors must be made of paper!!! DO NOT MOVE HERE!!!

Never in my life have I dealt with worse customer service than during my year of living at Avalon Watch. The front office made absolutely everything more difficult than it should be. Some problems have included: lost packages they signed for, credited rent check to different apartment and filed charges for not paying rent when check had been cashed, rude employees, no response from maintence, grounds are filthy, apartments are old, dingy, smell gross. Rent is very high, "activity fee" of $500 annually is a waste, tennis courts are a mess, pool is dirty.
