i've been coming to body and soul in jc for about 2 years now and getting countless tattoos, while the artists change from time to time, i can say that they do not hire people who don't have talent. i've yet to get a bad tattoo here and the artists are always super friendly and cool. definitely one of the better shops in this area.

Wow, what an incredible team of artists, everything from humor, personality, wit and charm. Important when dealing with the anxiety associated with making lifelong changes. The art is what motivated me to write a review, If only I could post the dynamic picture of colors, texture, and range my piece has I wouldn't need to come up with the words. I am in awe at how quickly Louis drew the picture to specs, and the price matched the art. Thank you Miguel for your "Balls"and Louie for your talent, I guess living in the southwest brought the best out of you.

I got my first tattoo here, yesterday, by Miguel, and I couldn't be happier. Sure, it hurt like hell- it was on my lower abdomen, but the design came out exactly as I wanted it. As for the staff, they were very personable, and made the whole experience one I'd definitely look forward to having, again.

Adam and Chuck, both great guys and excellent artists work at Jersey City Tattoo down Newark Ave. The people who work at Body and Soul now aren't at all worth your money or your skin. Check out jerseycitytattoo.com They do amazing work. I wouldn't entrust my flesh to anyone else

i like the way you guys take care of your customers. the only thing is that you guys are over prized on tattoos. i like the way chuck does his work.

i went to body and soul tattoo to get my arms tattooed at the same time. they are a bit pricey, but extremely clean and friendly, and their customer service skills are great (they put up with my horrid indecisiveness which is awesome). however, the tattoo artist they gave me i wouldn't recommend to anyone. i have the ankle bone on my left foot tattooed, i got it done in nyc, and it didn't hurt AT ALL, so i used that as a comparison table (i'll be going to nyc for ALL my tattoo work now). the guy who did my arms was chubby and tall, and a little conceited about his work, which is a shame because it sucks. when he started the tattoo, he took forever to actually ink it on my body--over 20 minutes for each one, which is ridiculous because the tattoos are NOT big at all, maybe 1 1/2 inches wide by 3 1/2 inches long apiece. and 20 minutes is a long time when someone is digging a tattoo needle into your skin. i have a very high tolerance for pain, but i was ready to just have him stop mid tattoo a few times because he was hurting me WAY too badly. he dug the needle too deep in my opinion (my first artist--fish--just let the needle glide over my ankle) and he was dragging it. once the tattoos were over i had a throbbing pain up and down my arms. and unfortunately, they healed with scarring (you shouldn't be able to feel your tattoos when you rub over them). i took excellent care of them, but despite my efforts, i lost some of the ink with the healing process, and i didn't scratch them at all (they hurt for over 2 weeks so how could i scratch?!). so in some spots the ink is very faded and non existent. from afar it doesn't look like much, but up close you can tell. not only that, but they were quite swollen and bloody *yes bloody* for about almost 1 1/2 weeks after i got them done. that was about three years ago now and i don't mind my tattoos, but they weren't worth the money (i could have gotten them for less than half at a nyc parlor), the pain, or the scarring.

while there IS a good artist in there -- a red headed guy with a comedian's personality (and i might go to the female for my piercing), i don't recommend the chubbier artist at all. when we first met, my husband saw my tattoo's (he's an artist too) and said, "that dude did a tattoo murder on your arms. dudes get shot over work like that." enough said!
