First I want to start out by saying that I feel sorry for all the employees and the families of the employees who worked at the Mallard. Especially Racheal and Paul the bartenders. Good luck with your new little baby boy Paul.

Second, I wanted to say that through all the changes that were made in the past few months at the Mallard, not one was good. How someone could think that an area like waretown could support the Biggest WINE BAR on the Jersey Shore is just amazing.(SHOT and a BEER makes $$$) You would think that with the creditability (??????) of the partner the owners brought in to help revive the place; he would have researched the area, before making a stupid decession like that. The menu change was horrible. The quality of the food was terrible, with something getting messed up everytime we ordered food out of the kitchen.

The place had so much potential with the ideas that a few of the employees had. Just because someone owns a business, doesnt mean they know how to do things the right way.

Before it gets ugly I will be going.

All I can say is to the person who the owners brought in as an advisor; "WAY TO KILL A wonderful PLACE.

Finally, the Mallard did good by bringing in a chef that actually is a real chef. I was blown away when I ate there last week. If it weren't for the ducks on the walls, I would have thought that I was in Manhattan. By the way he puts the food on the plates, and the way he decorates them, you can tell that he takes pride in what he does. My compliments to the chef for a job well done.

I just want everyone to know that I think the Thirsty Mallard is going in the right direction. The new menu is more sophisticated and totally fits the area. The wine list is amazing, no one in south jersey can compare. I also love whatever it was the new chef has done to the food. Just to shed some light on a few other inaccurate reviews I met the bar manager Tristian and he was very knowledgeable and helpful with finding a wine that I liked. The last thing he needs is a lesson in customers service( thanks dawn for the unintelligent review). The bartender Rachel was also one of the finest in the area. With promptness and her cooking. I would encourage anyone to give it a try.

I've never had a complaint about the food here, it's always been good, but I've often been dissatisfied with the service, having to wait for the wait staff to come and take our order, or bring drinks and even bring the check. There's been several times where the wait was just way too long.

I've never had a problem with waiting to be seated, it's never been more then 15-20 minutes.

For being in the area it is in, the prices are high, the food on the menu doesn't warrant it. Yes, it's good, but not deserving of the high price tag.

The fact that they charge a fee for take-out is a ripoff. It costs a lot less to have someone take out food, then it does to have them sit there, take up a booth, drink, etc. Unless that's what they are trying to do, make up revenue on alcohol or something.

PROS: good food
CONS: high prices, service not outstanding

the crab dip here is GREAT! I love it. Overall, this is a decent place. No real complaints. It is always clean., you get your food quickly, and prices are average. Some things are priced a little high, especially given the area the resturant is in. the staff is always nice, and i like that you can actually wtch the bartenders grill your food. However I disagree with the take out fee.... big turn off for me.

PROS: good food
CONS: take out fee is ridiculous

Thirsty Mallard has a very detailed menu with daily specials that are excellent. There is a great dessert menu too. The waiters and waiteresses are very knowledge about all the food items and very patient with customers. My only compliant would be that I feel that some of the prices are a bit high and there is a "take out" fee. We take often with 3 small children.
