We used to love the Monmouth Museum. No more. We felt ripped off, and our older daughter, who had begged us to go back and burst out of the car when we arrived, left disappointed and sad.

First, they won't let 7-year-olds in the Wonder Wing, even though much of the stuff is of strong interest to kids 7 or 8. How do you tell a 7-year-old, "your little sister can have all this fun but you just have to watch"? Ridiculous, and an unacceptable situation.

Second, all the space stuff our 7-year-old loved has been scrapped in favor of an extraordinarily poor weather exhibit. Not much to it; lots of empty space with some posters on the walls; dullsville. The neat lunar area at the bottom of the slide replaced by a room with old furniture? (It's supposed to be the after-effect of a tornado, but it fails spectacularly.) Little interactive stuff; much has been replaced by a big waste-of-space craft area in which kids create the same kinds of crafts they make everywhere else, or, better, at home. And the film is junk. I've never seen such a fine museum space used so poorly; it's practically criminal.

And -- the kicker -- the price has jumped to $7 per person, adults and kids. $28 for a family of four is a lot to a middle-class family, and this place simply doesn't justify it. We won't be going back.

The monmouth Meseum is one of the top meseum in New Jersey and it is for a reason. It's not only a great educational place for children, it's also a fun place for adults. We took the kids to Wonder Wing and they loved playing there while learning about the dinosaurs.

My children love the Wonder Wing, the train exhibit, and are looking forward to the human body exhibit opening soon. It is a great place to spend an afternoon. All is clean and the kids have a great time. All activities encourage imagination. Price is $5 for all visitors over 2 and therefore can get a bit pricy for a family outing, as you probably won't spend more than 90 minutes.

This museum is very cute. Everything for the kids is basically in one big room. They have a slide and a few pretend areas but not enough to make it worth going. The kids got bored in 20 minutes. The admission price was a little high for what they were offering. On the holidays they have a tree display and other big displays at various times during the year.

Monmouth Museum is a great place to take the kids. They have a toddler section, The Wonder Wing, which is just fantastic. Only $5 per child to get inside. Totally self contained, so no escaping children. They have different sections for the kids to play and learn at the same time. There is a dress up section, a treehouse, a coral reef plus a pirate ship with a kitchen inside! The big attraction is the whales mouth slide and the touching pond with lots of water for the kids to splash! Plus, there's an arts and craft section in the back, perfect to sit for a but and color, do puzzles or just relax.
