Being originally from the CT/NY/NJ area and having relocated to WV, I have limited access to Italian specialties. Finding Corrado's online has allowed me a taste of home, with fast shipping and reasonable prices. Thank you Corrado's for the great Italian foods that I've missed so much!

I have been going there for quite some time. As long as you carefully select your fruit and vegetable items you will have no problems there. Unfortunately, some shoppers do not take the time to examine what it is that they have decided to purchase. It make sense to check expiration dates on all merchandise wherever you shop. I have gone to other reputable food stores and have seen outdated items. So don't buy it I say. I find overall that this is an excellent store to shop in. You can't beat the prices which are sometimes lower than the large big box wholesale clubs.

No less than 3 times I had to point out to the person behind the fish counter why the sign showing the price of the previously-frozen, farm-raised, antibiotic-overdosed Talipia fillets from China had the word "Fresh" on it.

The first time I pointed out, about two weeks ago, the fish counter attendant became visibly annoyed, and removed the sign. No more than 2 minutes later, after I had walked away from the fish counter, he put it back.

So much for honest mistakes, eh?

This morning, the sign read "Fresh from China". An oxymoron, because virtually no seafood that's imported from China is fresh.

It seems these so-called "Italian-Americans" are more than willing to allow their name and reputation to be impugned by the under-paid, mostly non-English speaking immigrants they employ to keep their profit margins up, (as was admitted outright in one of their responses to another critical review on this page).

The sad part, is that their conduct casts a cloud of shame on all proud Italian-Americans, and lends to the much-maligned "semi-literate, La Cosanostra" sterotyping of Italian-Americans.

Let me just say that as far as I am concerned, the Corrado Family does not represent the honest, hard-working Italian-Americans that helped build this country. Let that much be clear.

If you visit their fish department you will have to ask if the items on display are fresh or previously-frozen, because the management of Corrado's Clifton doesn't seem to think it matters very much.

I purchased produce from the Fairfiield location. Within 2 days, the produce went bad. I contacted the owner, Frank, in the Wayne location. At first he said" we always stand by our products, and I will give you a full refund." When I gave him my receipt, he REFUSED to refund my $$$. DO NOT EVER SHOP HERE!! THE PRODUCE SHOULD LAST MORE THAN 2 DAYS!! AND THE OWNER SHOULD REFUND YOUR MONEY!! WHAT A HORRIBLE PLACE AND A RIP OFF!!!

ALWAYS AWFUL! The store is dirty. The employees are terrible! No one wants to be helpful. No one has any idea about good customer service. It seems that everyone there has a huge chip on their shoulders. I feel like telling them 'if you don't like your job get another. If you can't then you should be happy you have a job and make the best of it'. I asked one of the employees how long he has been working there, he said four year and still on minimum wage no wonder employees are giving horrible service because they are tired of getting minimum wage and working like a slave. This store needs a visit from local health department! Most of the produce is rotten and packaged items are expired. Recently, I bought packaged muffins and they were all moldy and green inside and when I tried to look for an expiration date I found that they had placed a new label over the old one (expired label) maybe just so customers could buy them thinking its fresh but it??s not. And there is a more, frozen fruits strawberry, it??s like they??ve picked them out of pile of rotten strawberries and repacked them in a new container. I don??t know if the employees are blind when they are packing this moldy strawberries or it??s their supervisors who wants this to be done forced by their cheap owner. The store and employees really needs to improve. Store is dirty even though it??s renovated. The food is expired or rotten. The staff is not polite. I asked the cashier a question and she responded in Spanish. I told her I don't speak Spanish so she ignored me and started talking to a cashier behind in Spanish. The supervisors needs to learn how to respect customers and be helpful when customers need help instead of talking on their cell phones and flirting with cashiers especially those young supervisor who are probably still in high school or first year college drop out. To add more to this, this place is a rat trap and i believe that the only way it could possibly still exist is if someone is paying off the board of health or something. And there are some employees who eat right out of the bags they are stacking in produce isles or in departments. Some one really needs to call and complain to Local Health Department. There is big sanitation Problem. And they need to get rid of lazy employees.

I love shopping at Corrado's..The prices are excellent especially during the time when you are trying to budget, make ends meet and provide nutritional meals for your family. I shop mainly at the Wholesale location in Clifton. I must add that this is a place where people of integrity shop as well as work. Why do I say this? I lost my wallet, at the time during my shopping at Corrados, not realizing until two days later..Once I realized..I of course prayed that I would find it..and I retraced my steps and contacted Corrado's..I had everything in that wallet!...I contacted them and someone (God Bless them) turned it in to the store..I dropped it at the cash register. I spoke to one of the employees and he told me, in fact a wallet was found..Honety, Integrity and Great Prices and Products...my kind of store to spend my money..Thank you again Clifton Wholesale employees..I love you all and the store!...(PS..Bought fillet of sole, while I was there 10 lb box $37...I have enough to share with 2 other households..) Thank you again and see you again soon Clifton.

I shopped at Corrado's when I was a tot with my Dad on Ralroad Avenue in Paterson. I lived only seveal blocks from the store on Main Street and watched it grow from an abandoned store to a giant complex. I shopped there several times a week for most of my life & loved it. I could find whatever fruit or vegetable I wanted ... and the meats are wonderful too. Yes, the fruits & veggies are not always fresh .. but that goes for any store. You have to know how to shop. I moved to Billings, Montana in 2008 and dream of the day a Corrados will open here. Hey, I can dream. I miss the variety. I'm Italian & can't get broccolli rabe here ... or Italian pastry or warm bread. Any chances of my dream coming true in this lifetime?

I have been shopping here for years, and lately find it is going down hill. The produce is so so, and after a day or two it goes rotten fast. The bakery is mediocre for an Italian establishment. I tried the hot food section, and will be cautious now. The eggplant was paper thin, and had so much breading you couldnt taste it. Like I said this is Italian? The fried cauliflower and rice balls are great thou. Last but not least the new section where I bought a pizza, was the worst. Too much dough, minimal sauce, and gobs of cheese, Not sure who is responsible for this, the migrant workers perhaps are not following instructions? Lastly the service is horrible. No one around when you need them, and checking out, they are not friendly, nor do they speak English, and treat you like they can't be bothered. For a long time establishment who is growing and prospering in leaps and bounds, there is no excuse for poor service and poor food quality. Unfortunately this happens a lot, the bigger a place gets the service and quality suffers, Sorry it's not what it used to be.

I absolutley LOVE the Corrado's in Wayne. I have never been to the one in Clifton but the one in Wayne has very frienldy staff in all departments, great produce, great italian pastries(the BEST canolis in the area in my personal, my husband's and our families' opinions) and their pet market is just as wonderful...both markets have great prices. Will continue to shop at Corrado's and Corrado's Pet Market for years to come!

Went into Corrados Pet Market and for starters the betta fish were in sealed containers. They need air and some of them were already dead. Half of the items didn't have prices several cages were dusty and filthy. There were plenty of employees available but NOT ONE even acknowledged my presence. They have NO customer service skills.

Business Response:

We make all of our sausage fresh I am sorry you didn't like the way our sausage tasted. We make all of our own sausage in our store and we are very well known for it. Everybody has a different pallet so we don't try to load it up with too much seasoning and frankly when it is cooked some people don't want the sausage to take away from their sauce/gravy. I don't think we deserved a 1 star review based on just sausage being bland:(

This place is amazing. I just moved back to the area from the west coast and let me tell you, theres nothing like this place in the rest of the state, or country for that matter. And now theres a new one in Wayne! Unbelievable variety and the prices will make you look twice! you enter to the sight of mountains of fresh produce from all over the world. They are always packed with customers. If you love food and cooking then this place is a must see. You can always find something new and exciting at Corrados.

Rotten fruits, worst customer service & employees with threatening treatment.
Why I would never purchase there again. The store in Clifton consistenly put on display rotten strawberries, figs, raspberries & balckberries. The bananas are either to green or overripen for been store probably under to warm conditions. But best of all, yesterday for the third time in a row I was sttopped at the door by the same emplyoee in my last three visits. His argument "Buddy" why you are not displaying visibly the orange marked tag on the sodas that you just purchased.
Since when a client has to take the "thief" treatment from an employee not only once but three times in a row. Probably between $100 and $140 every two weeks would not make a big deal for the owners of this store. But I hope that somebody at Management pays attetion to this comments.

Business Response:

You are right We are correcting the thief treatment everyday. We hire a lot of immigrants from all over the world. They do not know how to approach certain situations. I tell them that the simplest way is to correct the cashier making the mistake so that they do not have to approach the customer. We are truly sorry if we have offended you. We are a family business for over 60 years. We love our customers and the community that we are in. As far as the produce...We have listened to our customers and stepped up the quality of our produce. I hope you find it in your heart to come back and give us another shot.

Went to the store for the second time last night and decided never to go back. The service is the worst I have experienced - both in the grocer and pastry checkout area. The produce is questionable - some fresh, some clearly not. Canolli was just okay. But worse was the way the check out people treat you - like you are causing them pain to have to check you out. Crazy! I'll take my money elsewhere as there are so many fantastic places to shop for pastries, cheese, pasta and the like - places you can anticipate a service smile and not a snarl...

I went to Corrados after seeing it from the GSP. The experience was great, they were playing Frank Sinatra CD's in the store. We bought a package labeled sweet italian sausage with basil., it turned out to be spanish chorizo. While eating it my husband pulled a sharp shard of what appeared to be glass from his mouth. We notified Corrados, nothing happened so we called the health department and gave them the label on the package etc. Nothing happened. You know we won't shop there again.

i was shopping at this place while back. I went for pastries in bakery department and the tiramisu had rat pooped in there. I don't know if they have rats in the store but it was spoiled. and ladyfinger cookies around the tiramisu cake was out of taste, maybe expired. Cake had hair in it. I told one of the girl working there. She was rude. and gave me a bad look because I told her about the hair in front of all the other customers. They have so many managers not doing anything just standing there like an army keeping eyes on the customers and cashiers if they were stealing something or paying less money. Some managers in the front talk too loud and use bad words in front of all the other kids working there especially customers and girls.

I have been going to Corrado's for over 30 years.
Way back when they were on Railroad Ave. in Paterson.
In the last year or so, (since the new store opened)
the quality of food at the Clifton store has suffered tremendously.
They sell fruits/veggies after they start to rot.
The fresh pasta isn't fresh, it is left in the cooler past due dates on the package if it even has an date on the package.
It was the best store for around many many miles but now someone there needs to take charge and bring it back to the quality of foods before they opened the Wayne store.

My friend and I purchased a block of torroni (I don't have the rapper so I don't know how it is spelled) candy and when he went to take a knife to cut it in two, he couldn't. He got a hammer and pounded the knife it and it broke apart like glass. It was so stale that he through it away. What store would sell a product like that? They had a pile of it by the register so it wasn't like it was the last one.

My husband and I went there recently and bought a few items including two boxes of manicotti. We were very excited when we sat down to eat them and one bite we were so disappointed. They were rotten, spoiled. We were so mad. We also ordered from the cold-cut counter and the land o lakes yellow American was anything but. My seven year old son noticed too and would not eat it. So needless to say we wasted our time and money!

I have been to corrado's a few times and i agree with all of the other reviews im seeing- first off- DO NOT- i repeat DO NOT ever go on the weekends- especially if you are shopping with children- just dont- way to many crowds- and I bought a black forest cake there once and one bite told me it was way less than fresh-
the fruits and veggies- although there are a wide selection- sometimes they arent all fresh but as long as you are a careful shopper- you will be fine-
and the prices! all i have to say is wow!
I definitely think that the pros of this store out-weigh the cons
and although i wont trust everything i see there i will go back again to buy the things i do trust! oh and if you go- try their homemade hummus! to die for! the use roasted garlic and fresh herbs- it is delish!

Sometimes some items are not FRESH! Recentli I purchases some italian pasteries. I got them home and 2 cannolis were gree molded inside. Just be very careful when buying from this store.I have heard other stories from shoppers that things are not always FRESH!

The Best Supermarket In The State. The only place that compares locally may be Chinatown(NYC) but here there is no hassle. A lot of super-foods and health foods. Kefir, buckwheat, flaxseed, rare candies and such. Wines, meat, the most extensive produce section.Fresh flowers, gift baskets and baked goods.Rare cheeses, fresh fish, dairy, pasta, baked goods, rare juices and honey.Canned goods and sauces.Caviar.Housewares-like meat grinders/slicers and juicers. Large pots and utensils. You will have to go to a regular supermarket for paper-goods,pet food, regular soap, etc

It may sound cliche but when you step into Corrados, you feel as though you are stepping into a market straight out of the town center in Tuscany. There are so many specialty items that you don't find in a regular grocery store. It is a great experience to go shopping there, and you must buy a wine kit. I had some of the best wine from my own cellar thanks to Corrados

I don't know what evryone else here is buying and I can;t see the good reviews... but....

I live in Clifton and shop here every so often... but everytime I go the fruit/veggies are bad, and the ones I do buy don't ripe they way they should. The bananas go from green to green with spots to moosh. The cukes are always wiltey (along with the other vegies), and so on... I don't know who Corrados buy from but I think they get the fruit/veggys as a throw-awy from other stores. If you do buy anything use it that day!

BUT I will say I do like the cheese and olives counter! Not the coldcut counter that has not-so-good coldcuts, and keep away from the dairy also.

This is THE PLACE to buy all of your produce & meats. You can't beat the quality or the price. It's a little tricky getting here but well worth the trip. Say hello to Larry in the Meat Dept., he's very helpful.

Also, the Farmer's Market is nearby, stop by there too. There are plans to open another store in Wayne..can't wait!

Going here is an event. You can get all your produce (trust me they'll have it) and your meats. It's conveniently located off Rt 46. It's packed in with the conglomerate of stores (Childrenswear and garden center). Well worth the drive if you don't live local!

I love this place! We go almost once a week to get our groceries even though it is a 20 minute drive. Large variety of ethnic foods and great produce selection. Prices are reasonable and has others have said it is quite crowded especially during the weekends. Parking is always busy carts are everywhere so in my honest opinion it is better to park farther out so your car would get "bumped" by the carts.

The selection is great, especially if you're an avid chef or will be entertaining in your home. They have everything you could possibly need, but I've been there and the staff has been hard to find. Sometimes they just seem to vanish and it's always when I have a question or need something that's not on the shelf. Overall, go in and get what you need and I guarantee that you'll leave with more.
