Pitman Wig Boutique

My experience here was totally different from that of the other reviewers. In fact, it was because of the glowing reviews that I made the hour drive to Pitman Wig Boutique. I went on a Saturday afternoon and was mentally prepared for the place to be busy. When I walked in, the place was completely empty except for one store worker standing behind the counter doing paperwork. She did not acknowledge my presence until I said hello, and even then her response was unenthusiastic. I could tell right away I was not going to find a wig there... first of all, they don't have a very big selection. They don't display the wigs on mannequin heads, they are perched on top of little hat hooks that don't give you any idea of the style or texture, only the very basic length and color. Even the cheap beauty supply stores know better than this! I walked around looking for a wig with a longer length, but all I could see were short, conservative, little-old-lady type wigs. I had said to the woman that I was looking to buy a new wig, and she just continued with her paperwork. I finally asked her if they had any long styles, and she looked up and pointed to a small display rack in the center of the store and said, That's all we have. Um...hello??? What happened to customer service and trying to help the customer in any way possible? She did not offer to help me in any way or even look at wigs that could possibly be ordered. She was clearly not interested in helping me, and I was furious. She was an older woman with thinning blonde hair stuck in a Pebbles Flintstone ponytail on top of her head...it looked ridiculous. Most people in this business try to look their best themselves to promote confidence in the products...she needs to buy a wig herself. When she does, in spite of how disrespected I felt, I still wish her a better wig buying experience than she gave me. I walked out empty-handed and will NEVER return. By the way, if it matters, I am a caucasion, professional, in my late thirties female. I don't think this was a racist or customer profillng matter, she was just lazy and unprofessional.

I always wanted a wig because my hair is very fine due to heavy pain medications I have been on. On the day I got up my nerve, and walked into the shop. Linda was there and asked if she could help me. I told herI was interested in a wig. She told me to wait a moment, She went to the wall, and came back with a wigthe same color I have been wearing for the past 20 years. The fit was amazing! The color, the length was perfect! i didn''t even ask the price.. I left, wearing It home. I headed straight to my paents house.. They have been on my back for years to find a hair dresser to do to my hair. I have been trying , but am always unhappy. Well..when I walked into their house, my mother said,"Well finally, you found a decent beautician! it's about time." I told her to look again.. then I preceeded to take it off! She was tickled pink. She could not believe the color match and style. I told her she could come with me next time. She said she always wanted a wig with a certain style. She confided in me that she bought a wig many, many years ago, but never had to nerve to wear it. I told her the next time I go to Pitman, she could come ...I am going tomorrow morning. BUT, mom can't come .. my father has been very ill and needs care 24/7.I am going to purchase another wig..and maybe if they have gift cards, I'll get her one for the holidays. That way, she'll HAVE to find the time and a sitter for my dad.I did stop by last week to pick up some Shampoo. I met the other co owner. I told her I wanted to buy shampoo. She told me that they sold shampoo for wigs.. I told her, yes, I know. She said well, you aren't wearing one, are you? I told her yes , and didn't it look GREAT??? I felt so excited that even a person in the business couldn't tell that the hair was a wig She said the color was great , as well as the style for me.. I told her that I loved the place and the help. I was going to return soon.. and sure enough, tomorrow is soon. If you are even thinking about going to get a wig, PLEASE first stop in here. I know you will love the help you get. It is not high pressure, they will work with you until you find what you exactly want and feel comfortable with. Get readygirls, HERE I COME!!

Linda who is co-owner has been providing me with excellent service for over five years. I am in the restaurant business and do not always have the time to look as polished as I would like, with help from Pitman Wig I am consistently able to get that I spent a lot of time on my hair look.

Linda is a color expert. As soon as you enter the store she is already picking out a hair piece that matches identical. (if she doesn't have your exact color, she can order it for you). Before finding this gem, I had been using hair pieces that were found at the mall or at the corner store, which never quite matched. However, when I pop in a hair piece from Pitman, people constantly ask who is my stylist and how do I have the time and/or money to constantly be going to the salon. Once I explain that it is a hair piece they are amazed at the match and quite often don't believe me.

In all, I would highly recommend Pitman Wig as Linda goes over and above to help you look the best you can.

When I needed to get my Mom a wig due to her cancer treatments, we went here. The woman that was working there was wonderful to us. She showed such care and compassion towards us, without making Mom or myself feel sorry for ourselves. She had all kinds of uplifting stories of other people she'd dealt with going through the same things. They had a wonderful selection of wigs, too.
