Took another trip to The Adventure Aquarium in Camden
This time with both kids. Last time I only took the girl. Today, we had a wonderful time.

But, I noticed something different about Adventure Aquarium. First, there was a huge line to get it. It took about a half an hour. It was not that crowded, they just only had two people selling tickets and one of them had to deal with will call. Inside I noticed that all of the interactive tanks had only one person staffing them when in the past there were two. There was also no guides at areas where I remember staff members being before.

I mentioned this to one of the guides. She said there have been massive personal cuts since the "economic crisis" began.

This makes no sense to me. This aquarium is within a 3 hour drive to over 20 million people. A day trip for anybody in New York City, all of New Jersey, Philadelphia, Washington DC and Baltimore. If there is an economic crisis these people will not be taking family vacations to Disney, Aruba or Europe. A place like the Adventure Aquarium is the affordable alternative. They are gonna keep it local. Why cut corners at an an attraction like this. Now is the time to market and grow. But what do I know?

Also, we ate at Victor's Pub, just across the parking lot from the Aquarium. The last time we were there the service was so friendly and food so good we just had to go back. Needless to say I might just go back just for lunch. Well, not really, 90 miles is a long drive for lunch. But, I would recommend it be included it in any trip to the Camden.

From my blog Chickenunderwear

Two summers ago the whole family made a 3 day trip to Philadelphia. On the way home we stopped at the Aquarium. It was packed on this summer day. I don't know why so many people made this a summer vacation destination, It was mostly indoors. I put it in my head to go back on a day that was ok to drive 95 miles but not so nice outdoors. Today was the day. There was plenty of elbow room at the aquarium. We had a wonderful time.

There is just something that makes the Adventure Aquarium different from other similar places. We have been to all the zoos in New York City also collectively know as The Wildlife Conservation Society, The New England Aquarium in Boston, The National Aquarium in Baltimore, The Philadelphia Zoo, The National Zoo in Washington DC. The first thing that make the Adventure Aquarium different is that it is a dotcom and the other places are dotorg or .edu. Different. At the Adventure Aquarium each room full of fish had its own music; there is no soundtrack at the Coney Island Aquarium. At the Adventure Aquarium the people who work there are known as "CAST", just like all the employees at Disney World.

We still had a good time.

Pros: A hippo, how cool is a hippo

Cons: lots of plastic props in the fish tanks

This aquarium was really cool. I liked the giant Ocean Realm exhibit and the penguins. I also got to see a few shows. The Shark tank was really cool. You also get to touch a variety of animals including jellyfish and sharks. Overall, the aquarium was beautiful. Although, the 4-D theatre was a waste.

The Adventure Aquarium, or formerly known as the New Jersey Aquarium, has undergone a major renovation and it is dramatic. It is now larger in scope and scale. It is a great place to bring the kids. They will love to observe all the underwater sea creatures, and even the hippopotamus. It is well worth it to purchase the family pass, especially if you live in the area.

The adventure Aquarium, once the NJ State Aquarium, reopened last May after a renovation. They doubled the size and added some quality tanks and exhibits. We bought the family pass because my 19 month daughter loves the tanks. She especially loves the colorful reef tanks. They have hippos, swim with sharks, pet sharks and several other cool tanks and shows. The cost of a daily adult pass is around $17, which seems a little steep, but the family passport has been great. We just hop on the lightrail, Riverline, and drop in for an hour.

Adventure Aquarium is the former New Jersey State Aquarium. It has been renovated and expanded. It is gorgeous! The new exhibits, such as the hippopatumus, are really thrilling. It is a great place for kids and adults alike. The whole waterfront is on the upswing, with the baseball field field and the Tweeter Center on a few blocks away. A great place to spend the day!

I'm glad they changes the name of this aquarium because it doesn't deserve to be associated with Camden. The new facility is fun, clean, interactive and worth a whole day spent there. The shark tube is awesome and my nephews had to drag ME away from the petting area!

My family and I pratically spent the whole day in this aquarium and not a moment of boredom. The newly renovated aquarium is fanastic. They have nice petting display for the kids with baby sharks, sting rings, and crabs. The staff there was really friendly and it seemed like they all enjoy there job alot. We all had alot of fun and its was very educational.

My children are always happy to hear that we are going here. They all love to stare at the sharks which are in a great exhibit. They have some really unique displays and it is all geared towards the children. The price is fair and this aquarium can make for a great day out with the kids.

Definitely need to spend the entire day at this aquarium to see everything. There are shows and even hands on exhibits. You can take a ferry to Philadelphia right outside.

A day at the NJ State aquarium is a fun experience for the whole family. The exhibits are wonderful and the aquarium and they have a lot of educational/hands on activities throughout the day, such as pet a sting-ray, classroom programs, and the new Deep Sleep program where children can sleep over at the aquarium. The shark tank and education programs are also very impressive.

When we went to the aquarium with my children, it was really nice. Although it is a bit on the small side, it has a lot of very nice things to see. I especially liked the baby hippos, and the sharks. If you make a reservation you can actually swim with the sharks. Of course they dont bite, and the price is very reasonable, and you get about 2 to 3 hours with the sharks. it is really a great place to go with your kids and spend the afternoon or morning. I would go in the morning if going in the summer time, due to the fact that this is where a lot of day camps bring there kids.

Prior to the renovation, this place was not worth a trip. It was small, old, and left much to be desired. I look forward to visiting the newer aquarium. The location is not the greatest, go in the daytime.

The new aquarium is much better then the old one. The shark tunnel is great and they now offer you the chance to swim with the sharks. It's great for any age. You can even pet baby sharks and sting rays. The 4-d show is awesome. It's a great family day trip. The staff is friendly and eager to help. They answer all questions. Take the riverline and save yourself the drive and parking expense.

It is a great aquarium. I have been there twice. The latest visit was after its construction and reopened. The Aquarium looks even better now. Their exhibits are marvelous and their shows are great and very educational. If you have kids, be sure to bring them there. Kids would get a lot of fun by visiting this great aquarium.

My family and I have visited the Aquarium twice this summer. Featuring a broad array of aquatic life, the learning experience is impressive for all ages. However, each time we have visited ,the aquarium has been overcrowded making it difficult to view the exibits and navigate around the building.

The New Jersy State Aquarium is such an exciting place to bring your children!

They offer so many wonderful memorable experiences in one place. There are petting areas, they can reach out and touch horseshoe crabs, starfish, rays. They can see seal and hippos & penguins swimming, they can go to the 4D theatre for "Deep Sea" and underwater adventure.

The offer the availability to swim with shark.

PROS: Memorable experience
CONS: A little pricey but well worth it

This is such a nice aquarium. The admittance is average for an aquarium. It was great and very educational. There was plenty of parking and they have a food court upstairs. We got a chance to she Jellyfish and Hippos swimming in the water. They have beautiful fish and a petting tank to pet star fish, horeshoe crabs and other animals. They also have a shark tank. Really nice!

The NJ State Aquarium, also known as the "Adventure Aquarium", recently reopened after a long remodeling effort. It is really worth the time and money! The whole aquarium has a whimsical atmosphere, with wall murals and stage lights. There are even scuba divers entertaining children in some of the tanks! The price is on the high side, but I think it is well worth the money. (I believe it is $16.95 for adults and $13.95 for kids 2-12 and seniors. ) The staff are knowledgeable and courteous, and the exhibits are marvelous. I enjoyed the Shark Realm (their high-profile exhibit) and the West African river experience. The Jules Verne Gallery was also notable. However, it is still the fish that make this aquarium special. And, the look on children's faces is precious!

This is now known as the Adventure Aquarium, and what a difference! There is a walk through tunnel where you can see sharks swimming all around you. There are hippos, and just such an array of fish that we have ever seen. It isn't as good as Baltimore, but it is definitely improving. You can go to the one area and touch sharks and rays. Feeding time is always interesting also. Out on the deck you can sit and eat your meal, and over look the Delaware River. You can also visit the Children's Garden next to the Aquarium. Worth the $$, Not a lot of parking nearby, so get there early and you can park in the garage acrossed the street.
