Good Food! BUT BAD SERVICE! Forgot the name of this guy who serves the food & takes orders. A big time attitude guy! Has no patience to listen to what the customers gotta say. Last time I went there - felt like he was the customer and trying to do a favor by serving me my dishes. I stopped going here for last couple of months. Everyone there knowns me. Even the lady in the kitchen. But I dount if I will ever go there until this **** server still works there. BUT the food is truly awesome.

We were at Pat Thai for New Year's Eve and had a wonderful time. The food was delicious, and I'm not a big fan of Thai food in general. My boyfriend is a Thai food lover and he did indeed love the food. He was making some funny ecstasy faces while eating his meal. The service was good and the owners are very friendly. Pat seems to cook everything with love. Don't listen to the haters and the people who feel the need to be dramatic by WRITING IN ALL CAPS. It's a decent restaurant and a wonderful, local establishment that caters to the food lover in you.

Notice how the anonymous reviews are so horrific, while just about all the rest are glowing. Makes no sense at all! Pat Thai Restaurant is a gift. The FOOD is awesome. The SERVICE is usually quite good, and the STAFF is always friendly. The OWNER, Pat, is cooking and managing in the kitchen...not that common these days, and Pat and her husband, Jerry, who sometimes visits, often chat with new and old friends dining in. The laid-back atmosphere is perfect for a romantic dinner or a party group who wishes to festively linger until their BYO is all gone, and nobody comes by and sticks a check in your face. A home away from home where you don't have to do the dishes afterwards.

I really don't know what all the hype is about. The food was disgusting, simply put. The panang curry had a weird gritty texture to it and a very processed flavor to it. It was probably the worst panang curry I've ever had. The chicken thai fried rice was like a platter of grease and frozen vegetables mixed in with rice that was oversaturated with soy sauce. It was probably the worst thai fried rice I've ever had. And the chicken dish served with broccoli and shitake mushrooms... the odor on this dish was so pungent and foul, no one even touched the dish. If you want some good quality thai food, check out Thai Nam Phat in Rockaway, NJ. I certainly will NOT be going back to Pat Thai ever again!!!

My husband and I have been going to Pat Thai in Lake Hiawatha since it opened. The food is outstanding and always cooked perfectly! Pat and her husband Jerry are the owners and that is probably who that poster was talking about. Yes, the old woman is Pat's mother and Pat has told me that the spice level is very subjective. It's basically a pinch or two in order to get it right. Pat is very good at that but her mom is still learning. We have been there on occasion where mine has been too hot but that was a long time ago and now every time we go (almsot twice a week) the spice level is perfect. I get the Massaman that is out of this world!

I have gone to Pat-Thai on multiple occasions & I find Pat pleasant to talk to & very generous, besides a very good cook. Any one looking to try something new or something as an experience for their taste buds, should try Pat-Thai.

Now I have to be careful with the spices for too much is no good for me. How ever they have it from very mild, to really HOT! To match you level of flavor if your too sensitive stick with a 1 or 2 for flavor & taste.

If your more for a little of both flavor & a kick 3 (American Hot) thru 5 should give you a sweat. NOTE: If you known to have problems you may want to talk over the phone first.

I have always been greeted in a friendly manor & can't complain about the service. I always try either a meal & a desert or at least a meal. The help has always asked if they have done enough.

If you compare a regular Oriental meal to Pat-Thai's the proof is in the way it's cooked & in the way it looks. In other words you'll see & taste the difference in the first bite.

My mouth's watering already!

The menu is huge and has detailed descriptions of each dish. The spiciness is thoroughly described so I don't know what the pregnant lady is crying about. I do wish the portions were larger for the price, but that's mainly because I love it so much!

First time we went we were very disappointed - small portion of Pad Thai that seemed mushy. Hubby got something with peanuts, and there were less then 5 peanuts in the dish. A friend insisted we try it again. We did, and while the food was better, the portions were still small and over priced for the area. Sorry it didn't work out, we really could use a good Thai resturant around here.

Anonymous is wrong in so many ways. Do not listen to that poor review. The owner is female and she is the head chef. Her name is Pat.

The food is outrageous. Delicious. The Pad Thai cannot be touched.

The "old woman" is Pat's mom, who is here from Thailand.

Try the duck, nobody makes it better than Pat!

My husband and have been regulars at Pat Thai Restaurant since they opened. ....the food is FANTASTIC!!!! We've had Thai food all over the US and about 12 different countries including Thailand and Pat Thai continues to WOW us with each visit. There is much talent in that kitchen. They have over 100 menu items and everything we've tried so far has been terrific. It's BYO, so bring some friends and a couple bottles of wine...atmosphere and service are great as well.

We were at PAT THAI about a month back as we enjoy thai food and it was a weekend. The owner was around and he was extremely freindly and nice. We had some really delicious food at that visit. So we decided to go there again ---UNFORTUNATELY on a WEEKDAY. We did not see the owner this time nor did we see the regular chef...who is an old lady. Anyways we decided to get pad thai and my husband ordered the pat cashew king curry or something like that....WE WERE HORRIFIED TO FIND OUT THAT THEY HAD MADE IT SO SPICY INSPITE OF STRICT INSTRUCTIONS GIVEN TO THEM. Both of us were literally crying and some lady comes to us and poured us some water . On letting her know about the high spice level and why it was done as strict instructions were given to her she just nodded her head and put the entire blame on the chef and said"I 'LL LET THE CHEF KNOW"
SHE WAS SO RUDE TO US AFTER THAT , SHE TOOK HALF AN HOUR TO BRING THE CHECK WHILE WE WERE TEARING UP....
AND WE HAVE DECIDED NEVER TO STEP FOOT INTO THAT PLACE AGAIN. WE HAVE SUCH AN UPSET STOMACH AND TO TOP IT ALL I AM PREGNANT AND I HAD SUCH A HEARTBURN!!!!!!!GOSH!!!!!! I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND ANYONE TO GO THERE.
MY SYMPATHIES TO.....THE OWNER SINCE HE SEEMED TO BE A NICE GUY LAST TIME WE VISITED HIM!

Let me start by saying that the food is simply amazing. I have not found better yet and i have tried thai food all over NJ & NY. Pat is a naturally gifted chef and cooks with only love of her craft & the freshest, finest ingrediants. Her food is authentic, the tastes are out of this world. From the appetizers, main courses, to beverages to the desserts..Ive sampled them all with delight. something for everyone from the meat eater to the vegetarian. I do recommened ordering many items and sharing them with companions.Pricing is very reasonable in comparision to thai restaurants and better eateries. They do deliver, take out and cater as well. Its reliable and dependable. Length of service like any other establishment depends on how busy they are(she cooks lightening fast). This is one of the few places i know i will get an amazing meal.

PROS: the food - selection, taste, quality, cozy atmostphere , central location
CONS: can get busy - but worth the wait

Norman is high on crack. You won't find better Pad Thai for miles....this restaurant is a gem. I've been in Thailand and Pat Thai is the most authentic Thai food I've had in the US. Most entrees are $7.50. They are the only Thai restaurant in the area that delivers and that can be slow at times. Cozy place for quick lunches or long dinners. Friendly staff and good service. BYO ... visit their site at: http://www.patthai.net

I personally enjoy good thai food. But Pat Thai on Bloomfield Ave. is not the best place to go if that's what you seek. Pat Thai provides very average "Pad Thai" the most popular Thai dish. The delivery was extremely long, around 40-45 min. And the cost for a dish was around $9 including tip which I considered overpriced for the quality given. But the portions are pretty large.
