The brunch here is amazing. The amount of food you get is definitely adequate and the quality is great. I ordered poached eggs over crab hash with orange hollandaise sauce and I highly recommend it. The two times I came for dinner I felt that it left something to be desired, however, the dessert is great.
I love Amanda's for brunch and mimosas believe me you will leave drunk they hand them out in an actual glass not a champagne glass so watch how many you drink the food is always good and the portions are perfect for brunch
Pros: Amazing Brunch
Cons: None
Based on good reviews on Amanda's, my boyfriend and I decided to check out this place for brunch on Sunday morning. First off, they snobbishly ask you if you have reservations, we did not, waited 15 minutes for a table, plus side is they seated us in a nice booth area. The food is below average! I could've made a better breakfast at home. They don't offer you biscuits for brunch, rather bread rolls you'd have for dinner. We both ordered omelette dishes and they had no taste to them, were in much need of salt & pepper (and I'm one that rarely ever adds salt to any dish). They don't offer you toast of any sort with your dish, so I asked for an english muffin which there is an extra charge for, and it came burnt. My boyfriend and I were so hungry when we got there, but neither of us finished our dishes because they just weren't tasty. We left feeling so dissatisfied and wishing we had spent our $$ elsewhere. DO not go there for brunch, it's not worth it!
Pros: Cozy, beautiful ambience.
Cons: Food is below average! Not worth spending your money there!
Amanda's is a popular, but quiet, gem of a place on Washington Street with an impressive menu and attentive staff. It's cozy, warm, and a wonderful place for a romantic meal for two or, like our group, a weekend brunch for six. (Be sure to read the note on Amanda's website about free parking--a great bonus.)
There's even an Early Dinner Special (note: I did NOT say "Early Bird") for two if you and your partner can get there before 5:30 pm (order must be placed by 5:45 pm), Mon - Sat, all for the unheard of price of $28!
I'm a sucker for romance so it's no surprise that I fell in love with Amanda's. It's a quaint, lovely and romantic place that serves delicious delicately prepared food. The prices are higher than the average place in hoboken but it's worth it. It's really a gem.
Pros: ambiance, decor, food
Cons: None really
This place has wonderful food and the best placed I have ever dined in all of NJ and I have been living here for 3 years! We go as often as we can and I RECOMMEND IT TO EVERYONE! If you like to be waited on, fed delicious food and want an intimate dining experince this is the place for you!
Pros: Food, Service, Ambience
attended a bridal shower at Amanda's on July 26,2003. Everything about the place was great.
The staff went out of their way to make this occasion enjoyable for all involved. The food was delicious and every dish had a little something added to make it distinctive. The ladies at our table ordered the Grilled Hanger Steak on mixed baby greens and said that they did not know that flank steak could be so tender. The currants and pecans on the Sliced Grilled chicken breast on mixed greens were a savory addition. The celebration cake for dessert was moist and the frosting had just the right amount of sweetness.
If I am ever in the area again I will plan on stopping in for dinner.
OK
The decor is very pleasant. The mix-match charger plates are lovely, also a great way to save money and be chic. Very romantic, especially near the little garden.
The appetizer and main course are good except the small portion. Lamb chop is recommended! Fish dishes are good.
The dessert came as a disappointment though. Hot chocolate fudge cake and vanilla ice cream, the fudge cake was reheated in microwave making the cover kind of chewy.
Overall recommend as a romantic dinner for two place. But order something else for dessert than the hot chocolate fudge cake & vanilla ice cream.
Pros: Nice decor, lovely garden, cute chinaware
Cons: not-so-good dessert, bit pricy, parking far away
This place is great. I went there for my Anniversary and couldn't have picked a better spot. It is a really cute little spot to take a date or a loved one. Very romantic and the food and service were impecable. Pricey yes, but worth every cent.
Amanda's was amazing. I have lived in Hoboken for almost 10 years and don't know what took me so long to try Amanda's. I went there for a bridal shower and the food was delicious. Service -- great. Decore -- fabulous. It has become my new favorite place in Hoboken.
