A beautiful collection of nowhere-else-to-be-found gems and jewelry, including estate collections and made to order jewelry by Thea, daughter of Mary. We have shopped there for 37 years, including Teaneck, NJ where they were originally, and continue to do so. They are very pleasant people.

This is a beautiful store with lovely gems, and that is why I am giving it the 2 stars. I visit family in NJ and have often stopped in here, even bought a couple pieces. I went in there today however looking forward to admiring the gems and was treated very poorly by Mary. I just ran my fingers against the beautiful amethyst she had out and she said "don't put too much pressure on the stones because they're fragile" so i said "yes". I work a lot with crystals, and believe me they are not fragile. touching it will not damage it! You'd have to drop it for it to break. And i would never consider buying a stone without touching it first, that's the beauty of a stone. a moment later i touched a different piece and she nastily said "don't touch the stones!" "I would prefer you didn't as they could break" Lousy, lousy, rude person. not deserving of having her own store with such beautiful gems. hard for me to write this review without using any profanity because i am mad. It is a store, Mary, the customers have a right to touch the objects that are out. If you don't want that, then put them behind the counter! Thanks for making me feel so bad when all I did was admire your stones. I'll spend my money in a place with a nicer staff.

The Gem Mine is an eclectic jewelry store, with vintage to modern and contempory merchandise. A beautiful and unusual assortment, you will find something to suit anyone on your gift list, including yourself. The staff is warm and friendly, with an expertise in gems. Located on Main Street, the store is must see. So go see for yourself!
