Because I had purchased matching black appliances from Lake's in the past, with no problems, all of which I still own, I ordered a microwave last week. Ken went into hard sell mode to sell me a GE (I wish I had read the bad reviews prior to that) and convinced me Lowe's or those other places would charge fifty bucks more for installation and they send strangers to your home (to get the sale). As it turns out, he sends outside contractors as well. GE is crap. They installed it and I noticed scratches when they left. I called to complain and they said they would order me a new one. I a sked to switch to Whirlpool, which I had before and this idiot got an attitude and told me he can't give me that Whirlpool that cheap (best buy price). I asked how much it would be and how much did I pay already. He grumpily told me he doesn't know how much I paid and let's make everyone happy and he'll pick it up and refund my money. What an ahole. They picked it up and refunded my money but the technician who picked it up told me he said I was a pain in the ass. The technician also told me they are now a bunch of old grumpy men in bad moods who push GE , which is the worst possible brand. Bad experience. wouldn't use them again. I just saved myself $150 by ordering from Best Buy and getting my maintenance man at my apt complex to install for fifty bucks. You live and learn. I think they need to try testosterone supplementation or retire. Unpleasant experience . I myself an sixty-five and don't understand being that grumpy or difficult with a customer. But karma rules and eventually they will find themselves without business, or erections. ha ha

My experience with Lakes has been outstanding. This was my second item from them in the last 4 months. First i needed a dishwasher and garbage disposal. The salesman was very helpful and informative. Their service company came and installed both, and he was excellent. Most recently, last week I needed a washer as mine was old and rusted, not to mention oil leaking out from under it. The same salesman helped me again, answered so many questions and pointed me into the right direction. Since my laundry is behind bi-fold doors I needed one that had a slightly less deep design which he pointed out to me. Thank you Pat for that. The delivery was outstanding again as the fellows had to remove those doors to access my washer. They were so nice and helpful, went without any glitch, and before i knew it they were leaving with my old broken one. Thank you Lakes, a customer for life.

My wife and I purchased two appliances in 2011. Friendly to deal with and savings due to the 3.5 tax were good. Salesman was helpful. Delivery/setup was unsafe. Power cord improperly installed. No offer of delivery refund. Less than one year later a warranty claim denied by manufacturer based on information given to me by salesman. I finally bit the bullet after unsuccessfully trying to appeal the claim denial. When I went to the store to pay the service fee, I told the three employees in my presence that they had lost a customer over the claim denial based on their salesman's lack of product knowledge, they did not even acknowledge me. Apparently, they could care less about customer satisfaction. I will never use this business again.

so glad lakes is back open under the original ownership. there isn't a better place around to deal with trustworthy people that truly value their customers. i've been a customer of theirs for almost 30 years and their level of service has only gotten better with time. it's so nice to deal with friendly people that give you the right advice and have good prices too. they'll always make you a good deal and do whatever it takes to make you happy, but maybe the best part is they service what they sell. so if you have a problem with an appliance, and we've had our fair share, lakes is always there to stand behind the product. that is really hard to find these days...a company that is actually there to help you after the sale. this is the ONLY store around you can count on for that because none of the 'other guys' have a service department. lakes, it seems, has it right....they know they are in the customer service business first and foremost. that goes a long way with me, to the point that i'm actually writing this review, and i never take the time out to write reviews! they may be a bit of a work in progress for a while since they're just getting back on their feet with re-opening their stores and re-acquiring product lines and so forth. but rest assured these are the people you can trust above all others. count on it. right now they're open in mt. holly with 3.5% sales tax and i know they have plans in the works to re-open again in medford, supposedly by the end of the year. anyway, it's great to see one of the 'good guys' back in business. they have at least one happy customer in me!!!

Original owner .... original problems. I had to deal with them before and will not do it again. The store is hard to find and lost in the center of mt holly. And when I go in to the dark, dirty showroom... I find out they only sell like 5 brands. I was looking for a subzero and they said they "can work something out to get it". I didnt trust them. The only draw was the 3.5% sales tax, but now looking there are many other's that have 3.5% too. Next week I'll check out Pc Richards and Albo to see what they have to offer.
