Have been going to Don Pepe's since the 80s. Love the Sangria and the Shrimp and Garlic. Most of the time when I eat there,I have a 3 lb. Lobster.The Lobster has always been cooked to perfection. I was a lttle disappointed on the weekend of Valentine's day as they had run out of 3 lb. Lobsters, but that was to be expected. Love the atmosphere, and although they are quite busy on Saturdays,I still find it romantic. I will continue to recommend this restaurant to my friends and family.The service has always been great as well.

Not bad food but after all the time they've been there still hillbilly behavior with names and menus unknown in Spain. Good for Newark like most Spanish places there like Fornos Spanish Tavern, etc. This kind wouldn't work in Manhattan in today's Spain's food style. They aren't updated.

This restaurant has the best best garlic shrimp dish I've ever tasted. The atmosphere is very classy, and the service was great. It isn't very kid friendly, but a great place for a romantic evening or girlfriends having a nite out on the town.

We have been going to Don Pepe for years. Service is always the best and the food even better! The garlic shrimp is by far the best I have ever had and the Paella is superb!

We attended a birthday celebration in the private room upstairs. The staff was very accommodating and took care of a few special requests quickly.
The food was very good and served nice and hot!

Don Pepe Restaurant has a very good staff. The food is very delicious. The interior was nice a nice family atmosphere. One entree is more than enough to fill up.

I went to Don Pepes twice before, and each time I enjoyed the food. The decor is more upscale, bordering on spanish style gaudy, but thats alright. The regular dining area can get a little packed on special occasions like mother's day. The food was great spaniard style cuisine, and it was a healthy portion of food I may add. The pitcher of sangria was soooo good! My mother doesnt drink, but she drank quite a few glasses of sangria, lol...It's not watered down and not too strong. A kid can have it and love it. The prices are a bit up there, being that it is seafood mainly, so its normal to pay $25+. They have a parking lot adjacent to the restaurant, but you have to pay, not free, no validation. I recommend overall though.

Two of us went there on a Saturday night. Ordered 3 appetizers: garlic shrimp, stuffed mushrooms and clams in green sauce. The only one ok was clams. Shrimps are looked like they were just unforzen. Mushrom stuffing was not good at all. For main dish we ordered veal cutlets and seafood combo. Neither dish was any good although portions are enormous. Total to came out to around $140 with tips. Got home and both of us spent all night in the bathroom throwing up. Next day wasn't any better either. Called the restaurant and complained, but rude owner said nothing they can do about it. He said they serve the same food to everybody. I guess it means that whoever was cooking for did not wash their hands or something like that. Anyway, obviously will never go back there again and not would recommend it to anybody. Try Cafe Espanol or any other spanish place in the City. Its just so much better!

Outstanding. The best seafood around. Everything about this place is great. Wonderful food with large portions. Wait till you try the shrimp and garlic. You can't forget about the sangria. You'll think you in heaven. Just great atmosphere, food and service.
Rodderswalt gives this place a strong 3 and ahalf stars.

I did not rate food, ambiance or value because *we never got seated*!
I called ahead and was told that there would be no problem seating a party of two at 5:30, arrived at 5:30, was told there would be a 5 to 10 minute wait. Fine, reasonable, figured it would probably be longer, waited for over half an hour when a couple that came in 20 minutes after us was called to be seated. I approached the desk to see if there was some mistake, and, even though my name was clearly down on the list, I was told that I would just have to wait for the *next* table. Their attitude was as if they were so busy they did not need my business, so we left. Very unprofessional and rude.
