Locally known as the Barbera Fish Market, this family business has been around since 1919. Often overlooked, as the famous White House Sub Shop is right across the street, if you have a craving for good and I mean GOOD fresh seafood, this is the place. They have very reasonable prices for fresh seafood which they will clean for you upon request. Several varieties of fish, clams, crabs and lobsters (depending on season) are available. Note- all crabs and lobsters are prepared fresh, meaning that they are alive and not out of a freezer.

There is a limited lunch counter with a few stools and take out orders are available. Dominic Alcaro and his staff prepare and cook a fresh selection of fantastic culinary delights ranging from the standard (but still excellent) fish and chips, a clam soup (in light broth with crabs and other seafood), steamed crabs and broiled tuna, salmon and/or the catch of the day. Dominic also has a cole slaw which is out of this world. It??s very light with a delicate flavor with little mayonnaise and it often sells out before the lunch rush is done.

Whether you??re in need of some fresh seafood for something you??re cooking yourself, headed to the beach and need some hot steaming crabs by the bushel, a quick bite to eat or nice to go order, there probably is no better local mom and pop fish market in town. The decor holds to the true Atlantic City roots, before the casinos- when people came down to the shore to have fun on the shore. Parking is available on the street in front (and in the lot behind but a little tricky to get to tough via the one way streets). The seafood is of top notch quality, service is friendly and outstanding and the food is simply delicious. You can taste the freshness and you??ll be glad you went to Barbera.

Nice little fish market. The fish is fresh and not expensive. They also sell live crabs here. Located on a busy street across from the White House Sub Shop. Parking on the street.
