OMG! I COME HERE ALL THE TIME AND I JUST LOVE IT. THE FOOD IS GREAT, THE SHOPPING IS AWESOME! THEY ALSO HAVE SPECIAL EVENTS EVERY MONTH.. I COME AND BUY ALL MY SPICES, GROCERIES AND ORDER SUSHI FROM THE BACK. ITS ALWAYS FRESH WHEN I HAD IT. ITS LOCATED IN NEW JERSEY AND I LIVE IN NYC.. ITS A FEW MINUTES OUTSIDE OF THE LINCOLN TUNNEL BUT ITS WORTH IT.

This place would be a better place for Japanese who are living far from Japan for such a long time and for non-Japanese.

Pros : they sell the very thin sliced meat that Japanese love.
Cons : more expensive than Japanese supermarkets in Manhattan. Raw fish is usually not fresh.

I shop there only when I can't find what I want at American or Korean supermarkets.

I -love- this place!
There is a lot to do here, and a variety of smaller shops in this Asian supermarket. It went through renovations about (roughly) 7 years ago, and as a result it brought in more business, which also translates into a few parking problems (but the experience is all worth it!).
Inside you'll find a huge variety of places to eat in addition to the supermarket section that takes up the bulk of the building. There's also a bakery in the building, and another building on the complex holds a Japanese bookstore and a toy store, among other shops.
This is a wonderful place, and if you're ever in the area definitely check it out!

This is a great place to hang out even though it's a supermarket. One of the biggest selection of Japanese food outside of Japan. There are many variations to choose from however, it is a bit expensive, some of the things can be found in New York's Chinatown for a cheaper price. They offer a shuttle from NY's Port Authority. Outside of the market are little stores that sell Japanese goods. Most of the workers speak Japanese so either know how to speak it or have enough patience to walk around and look for it. The mochi's they sell here is delicious!!!

A resturant, a book store and a grocery store may not seem like a fun place to go. However mitsuwa being a piece of japan only a half hour from New York City is. The only problem with the book store is you may not find much in english text so unless you can read japanese it's just eye candy. There is a unique gift store split into sections from toys and japanese house products. The grocery store is very big and just about everything they sell is straight from japan. Mitsuwa serves as a great window into that other corner of the earth.

PROS: Good enviorment
CONS: Certain things that'll interest you may not be in english

I love this place to death. It is separated into so many sections - the supermarket, a restaurant, a book store, a merchandise store, etc. Everything is gorgeous.

If you are looking for something imported ( mainly from Japan ) you will most likely find it here. I took off a star because it is highly priced. One good thing I like about Mitsuwa is that its accessable to New Yorkers through a bus in Port Authority.
