A note to the previous reviewer: Yes, this place is shabby but the service is excellent. I usually bring my own nail polishes. I do not get tips etc. just a straight mani/pedi. I have been to quite a few other places and they charge exhorbent prices for lessor services. When I get waxed, the owner takes special care of my face. Some other rip your skin off! The pedicures, here, are worthy of a far more expensive "salon". Get a gripe, you do get what you pay for but this place is not so bad!

I went here as a last-minute, much needed mani/pedi as my "old stand-by" was booked.
The first thing I noticed when I walked in was that it was really warm inside...like, uncomfortably warm. Yes, it was October, but it was a gorgeous afternoon around 70 - no need for the heat!
I had to wait about 10 minutes, which was fine, and I was asked to pick a color - which was difficult because their color selection wasn't the best. They had just about every shade of white-brown and random bright colors (blue, green? etc) but few trendy colors.
The decor needs updating. The carpet looked dirty and the stools for waiting were low and sparse.
My favorite part about a pedicure are the massage chairs. Boro's massage chairs are old, the massaging "knobs" are small and mostly just vibrated and annoyed me. NOT relaxing.
I feel badly giving such a poor rating because the workers here are very nice and friendly. They speak English so it was easy communicating with them.

My pedicure turned out nicely - they used a hot stone with the "massage" and I really liked that. They didn't buff the tops of my nails so you can see the natural ridges that appear - most salons I've been to take care of that. Otherwise, the polish turned out nicely and it hasn't chipped in over a week (most pedis last at least 2 solid weeks anyway).
My manicure was a little disappointing. There were little specks of polish on the skin around my nails (most manicurists are meticulous about polish) and the paint started chipping after a couple days. A good manicure should last a week.

The most disappointing part is that I was charged $30 for the mani/pedi and of course expected to tip on top of that. The GOOD salons charge that much! I will definitely not be returning to Boro Nails unless I hear rave reviews that they completely revamped their salon, color selection, skills, bought new massage chairs AND lowered their prices.
