I've been going to European Day Spa for as far back as when it was called Hairstyling Yours and owned by Georgia. I've been a long time customer of Georgia for years and I've never had a bad service while the salon was under her supervision. I've had Wally, Lisa, Jo, Georgia, and many girls over the years and I have always been more than satisfied with my color and cuts (and BTW I LOVED Lisa!)
WELL I came in last month to get a cut and color service done and that idiot manager there tells me that Anita is "just as good as Wally and Georgia". She could not be more WRONG and to LIE to me just to fill up her book. This girl has NO IDEA what she is doing! God save her she has no idea how to cut and she made me so uncomfortable when she was asking Wally and Georgia about coloring me and this girl is working at FULL PRICE in a salon that boasts to be so upscale as European Day Spa does...??? I'm mad as hell that I wasn't put with Wally who was available and I'm writing this online because I feel that after spending over $100 to get my hair cut and colored and to be really disappointed with the service and very aggravated with the manager for lying to me in the first place, I'd rather not ruin my longtime relationships with Georgia and Wally but I want to still inform YOU the customer to not allow that manager to blow smoke up your butt about taking a stylist that is inexperienced and incompetent. Who is this girl someone's daughter? All I know is Georgia would have fired her a long time ago or at least made her take some more classes! I'm really sorry Georgia but I'm only giving 3 stars. I miss you handling the salon end of the business.

A big thank you to the staff at The European Day Spa for making my 40th birthday so special! I had a wonderfully relaxing day and ended on a high note with a great hair stlye and makeup application. I left there looking and feeling great and I couldn't be happier with the overall services I received on Friday. Thanks again!

As a client at European Day Spa, I just want to say thank you for all the "TLC" that I have received over the years. Fernanda is my hair specialist and I sincerely appreciate her talent, professionalism and genuine concern for me as a person. She is very accommodating and has literally re-arranged her personal schedule to assist me.

The staff is always polite and helpful. When Fernanda is not available, either Stacy or Wally is always ready and willing to assist me. In addition, scheduling or re-scheduling an appointment is met by the desk staff as if you are priority # 1. I highly recommend European Day Spa for all your personal needs.........especially if you need a great cut or color!!!

I'm addicted to the European Day Spa! I love coming here and I've been treating myself to massages mani's' pedi's hair cuts color for years now and I'm always happy with the results!
Everyone here is so nice and all the girls at the front desk are so friendly andprofessional and always go above and beyond to get me in when I need a tune up! I read some of the other reviews and I think that maybe they were expecting a more NY kind of Day Spa or something but this is Bayonne here and it's just a small city.......I think the European Day Spa does a great job to make you feel like your some where a little more special for a few hours a day, it's beautiful inside and very clean and sure it can be a little loud on a weekend but that's the salon.....ah and btw...I like Wally's vibrant personality(and hair) and I agree how some of the other stylists mentioned in reviews can be a bit gossippy about their co-workers and complain a lot about what the customer tips them and that's not nice to over hear when you come here to relax---it must be a hard place to work at times......but that would really be an issue for management to handle and hopefully they will----there's probably a lot of talented people and effective managers looking for work...... but it's not my business and I come here to relax from my stressfull life =) I just hope they keep up the good work so I can keep coming here for years to come!

hmm..... a little skeptical, I had a hair color and cut with Anita and she was kinda unsure of herself, it made me nervous. She kept asking me if I was sure I wanted this color like it was some off the wall color, it's just ash brown.... my hair looks okay but her akwardness just made me worried.

It was interesting to read some other reviews on here....Although I agree about the music being loud -- I really did not appreciate my hair dresser chit-chatting in Spanish while she was doing my hair. It was unprofessional so I do not go there for my hair anymore but I would like to say I think the European Day Spa is a stylish and clean salon and most of the services there are top notch for the area.

The girls at the front desk are total sweethearts always greeting me with a big smile accommodating and professional anytime I call or need anything changed there's Borjana, Roberta and Kashia (sp?) and the other girls ready to help me with a wealth of information about the business and services. Given the area they're in, these ladies deal with some pretty tough and down right rude customers and they always seem to handle the situation professionally and with style.

I now get my hair done at another place in Jersey City and I'm happier there but for my nails and skin care I still come to European Day SPa to see Anna, Ella, Cindy and Ingred and I am never dissapointed :o)

My advice to the other reviewers is why not give some other services or other staff a chance? It's a big place and if you don't like one service or one person, you have a few more to try out and choose from!

I joined Living Social after seeing numerous commercials advertised for it on TV so I figured I'd give it a whirl. I used to go to Skin Deep in Wayne, NJ but my Este moved on so I was open to try something new. I saw European Day Spa's offer for a $19 Glycolic and after looking at their website which looked great (and after reading what is now apparent to me to be their carefully edited customer reviews), I decided to give them a try.
Although the front-of-house hostess was very nice and knowledgeable about the services and offered me a $25 upgrade (which I took advantage of) this enthusiasm and knowledge did not translate over to the service providers who mostly didn't speak English or chose to speak in their own languages right in front of me which made me feel a bit unnerved and ignored.
After I was given the tour by the hostess, I was seated upstairs in what I was told was the Spa area of the business and I was grateful for that as the downstairs "Salon" half of the business was painfully loud with hip-hop music blasting and hair dressers yelling over their hair dryers to make conversation with their customers. I suppose it was good that they at least attempted communication with their customers but truthfully what they were saying really could have waited until the dryer was off. No brainer there. It was still more interaction than what I experienced upstairs in the Spa.
My skin "specialist" Maiya finally took me after I was waiting upstairs for more than 20 minutes. She didn't ask me any questions and just began the Glycolic so I told her that I was getting the upgrade and she snapped coldly to me: "This is not on my schedule!!!". I told her that the hostess booked me in for it at the computer and that it IS on the schedule. She became very agitated at me like I was telling her off or something when I clearly wasn't - I just wanted the upgrade for the full facial! After that she was very defensive and cold and what was supposed to be a 1 hour long facial upgrade became a 20 minute slap some cream on my face and leave the room for 22 minutes facial and I was not impressed at all!
When she finally returned, (I thought she had forgotten about me), I made little a joke saying I was about to fall asleep in here and she snapped at me and said defensively "If you don't like my facial, you can book with someone else". Well, I was shocked!!! What kind of lack of professionalism does this woman have? Does she even have repeat clients??? I drove a long way and waited 20 minutes for a service and I was treated like complete garbage.
I really could not ever recommend this place to anyone, it just didn't have a relaxing Spa atmosphere and I would bet my life on it that this review and any other negative review gets carefully removed from this site by their managers because it seems fishy to me that they only got 3 complaints??? I highly doubt that.
So.....to sum it all up I am only giving European Day Spa "2 Stars" and that is only due to the good customer service I received from the hostess. This Spa either needs new management or needs to be given a complete overhaul of bad service providers to ever be successful or ever worth going to. Aren't Day Spa's supposed to be relaxing and an escape from the daily grind??? Thumbs down!!!

Sent from my Blackberry...........Last month I was visiting my parents in the JC area and decided to treat myself to a day at the Spa and read some reviews online about the European Day Spa which seemed good so I decided to go. After circling for 10 minutes looking for parking (they don't have their own lot); and I finally got to the Spa still early enough to still be taken on time. Once entering I was greeted by the ugliest dress I'd ever seen that looked like a reject from a drag show; (it's still a mystery to me what was the point of displaying this hideous dress in the spa???). I was taken on a tour by the receptionist and shown where my services were taking place. She was nice enough and informed me about all the services they provide and she eve convinced me to get a "Spa Pedicure" which seemed nicer than a regular pedi. As my tour ended, I was really shocked at just how tacky this place was;, the fake jewelry and knock off Tori Birch bags from China Town. Isn't this supposed to be a Spa? I'm then taken upstairs and told by the receptionist that I can "relax with a steam or I can just change into my robe and slippers";... Steam sounded like a good idea, but once I left the locker room I was quickly taken away by my esthetician who told me she was back to back and needed to take me now. Well the day just got worse from there! This was now the pace for the rest of my day RUSH RUSH RUSH! I was rushed into each service like they were punching a time clock in a factory! My massage was pretty good for a Swedish and the girl was actually very nice. I can't say that my facial was very "refreshing" as I was pinched and picked until my face bled. I was then rushed downstairs to receive my nail services. My nail tech barely spoke to me as she was waaaaaay too interested in talking-shouting-gossiping loudly in Spanish to two other women who worked there. One of the women was this very obnoxious hair stylist with a huge 80's styled perm in a terrible orangey color that was as loud as her voice! This is a current style? Thank God I didn't get my hair done here! I came to the spa to relax and unwind and instead I was deaf by the time I left there from all the noise! I was treated like I was a chore to work on, I was rushed, I was annoyed, I was thirsty and when I asked if I could have a drink the nail tech said to me "you're almost done"; and said nothing else to me. I can NOT see how this European Day Spa could boast that they are THE BEST at anything anywhere. The only thing they were THE BEST at was rushing me and making sure that I never return. I spent over $300 on a day that will remain as one of the LEAST relaxing Spa experiences I've ever had.

I was a client at teezers salon for a few years until I came to the European day spa. I must say, I am never going back! The haircuts at the European day spa I've gotten (I had Wally and Fernanda) were the best ever!! I have naturally blonde hair, and I wanted to go a little lighter with highligts, and when they did my color it looked so good that even my closest friends couldn't tell that my hair was dyed ;) They are thorough and give me exactly what I wanted. Also, you will not find a place this clean or professional anywhere else in Bayonne.

The lady who commented before this sounds like a complete psycho, if you ask me! Sorry ma'am!

i have been going there since it was" hairstyling yours" and have stuck with wally(hair dresser) since than. SHE IS GREAT!! where it be a regular hair cut and blow dry, high lights or an up do i am never disappointed. I often let her use her judgement and im always thrilled. they are very friendly and so what if they speak their own languages ( they are ready to deal with people of any culture).

I've gone to European Day Spa for several types of massages - they're all wonderful. It's a clean and relaxed atmosphere. They treated me like a queen and served me with cucumber water or lemon water, my own bathrobe and slippers and steamed shower. I did the spa sampler, which was a pedicure, manicure, 30 minute facial and 30 minute massage. It was excellent! I highly recommend them!

I go at least 4 times a year and use the spa services here. I don't have to travel all over the state of NEW JERSEY to find a place where I am treated like royalty and can just relax. As for prices, I've seen MUCH higher and I find that the steam shower is worth every last PENNY!
