In Short
Boomerangs, Aussie flags, kangaroo portraits and faux aboriginal art honor the homeland's wilderness, but Outback delivers a polished version of rusticity with varnished blond-wood booths with matching wainscoting and casually uniformed waitstaff. Besides more than a half-dozen cuts of steak, diners can pick from large-portioned entrees like ribs, chops and shrimp or chicken "on the barbie." The Bloomin' Onion, a large onion dipped in batter and deep-fried, is an appetizer with a following.

Ratings_icons Well Worth the price

I have lived here most of my life, I was in Houston for over three years. I have yet to find a steakhouse here that equals the ones in Texas, but for Albuquerque and the quality of meat you get in this town, Outback by far exceeds the average and totally leaves the local "steak houses" in town far behind. It is a busy place if you dine too late in the evening, seating might be a hassle, but better to wait for quality food than be seated right away for something you'll be regratting in the morning. The waiting staff is very polite and as prompt as can be expected as busy as they usally are.

Pros: Quality food and Spirits

Cons: Possible long waits to eat

Ratings_icons Overpriced.

Yea, yea, everyone is enchanted by all things Australian but is it worth an extra $10 a person to talk to someone with an Australian accent? The food is good but the prices are just way too high for what you get. Service is spotty and fake.

Pros: Food

Cons: Prices

Ratings_icons Terrible Steak!

opfix1

I don't get all the hype about Outback. The steak is dry and other items on the menu are boring and typical of a chain restaurant. It is way over priced! Plus the wait to be seated is rediculous. And, the "call ahead seating" is worthless. I called ahead and they said it was a 20 minute wait and our name would be put down right now. We arrived (20 minutes later) and were told we would have to wait 1 hour!!! We left!

Pros: Usually nice staff

Cons: Wait for table, Bad food, Very pricey

Not bad for the same thing you get at every Outback. To me it seems like just the same old steak you get everywhere. Service is scattered and the atmosphere is very hurried and busy. Their steak was somewhat bland. I do like the bread they bring out before your meal. It's easy to fill up on that so you don't realize how small the meal is. Overall, what you get is not worth the price and the wait.

Ratings_icons YAHOO...STEAK !!!

user87124

No steak sauce required. Marinated just right. Delicious steaks. Great for an evening dinner. Not recommended for children; no place for them to play. Plus, when they tend to be too restless, they can be distracting to others trying to eat a great meal. More on the expensive side, but great steaks. Packed on weekends and evenings like Fridays or Saturdays. Call ahead for seating. Your wait can be up to an hour at times.

Pros: Great Steaks, Good Beer

Cons: Waiting to be seated, A little expensive

Ratings_icons Its ok

EdumaktedRedneck

Their steaks were good, just not the best in town. The service was ok. I just cant see why there is such a big deal made out of such an average steak house. Their food isnt anything better then most in town.

Ratings_icons Good for ALL special occasions.

bhh

We always go to the Outback for special occasions -- birthdays, anniversaries, Mother's/Father's Day, holidays, etc. We have never been disappointed. The only time we had to wait *too* long to be seated was Valentine's Day (you can't reserve - although you can now "call ahead"). Items of special note: Gold Cost Shrimp, House Sirloin, Alice Springs Chicken, Ribs. We have tried most items on the menu and love them all. Best Caesar salad in town. I could go on forever - try it, you'll definitely like it.

Pros: Excellent Food, Good Service, Friendly Staff

Cons: none
