After a bad experience at Waves in downtown ABQ, I started going to Laru Ni Hati as it was really close to my work. \r
I called for pricing one day and was set up for a Saturday appointment. I was really impressed with the atmosphere.

I live in New York City now but I grew up in Albuquerque. I have been coming to Greg at Laru Ni Hati since I was in high school. I love the haircuts he gives me using a straight razor. I have not found anyone in New York who takes the same care with my hair for less than three times the price. It's always a treat to come home and get a makeover.

Love the vibe of this salon! Sarah does the best hair and gives amazing waxes. You can grab a bite to eat, drink some coffee, by your cards for friends and family, the products you need and chill on the patio. It's great!

I have been going to Laru for just over a year now. I had heard several friends mention how great their experience had been so I finally had to see for myself. Initially I really liked the atmosphere and modern decor. Then to top it

Laru Ni Hati was recommended to me by a colleague. I went to the owner, Greg. I gave him full reign as far as style. My hair was about shoulder length. He cut it short. He seemed to have a lot of attitude, but I figured I could put up with it for the right cut.

I kind of liked the style, and went back a few times. It seemed that he was often late and made me wait; then was distracted during cuts, leaving to take care of salon business.

Then my cuts started getting sloppy and the attitude got worse.
Even after I went back to get it fixed, it often was no better.

Then I got a *really* bad cut and left for good.

The place itself is very hip and fun, but for what they charge it would need to be much more than trendy.

They do have a fantastic array of beauty products and perfumes, and they make a mean cuban sandwich.

But I would look elsewhere for a consistent, good cut.

Greg was recommended to me by co-workers.
i moved from miami 2 years and left behind a hair stylist that i didn't think i would be able to replace. i have been pleasantly suprised!
Greg showed me what my hair could do naturally in this new climate.
i have been back for his color which i find to be better than the colorist i left behind. he has made albuquerque a more liveable place for me.
i am very happy with my new look.

Pros: a beautiful low maintenance haircut

Albuquerque the magazine has rated Laru ni Hati one of the best salons in Albuquerque for several years in a row. I decided i had been here long enough to give them a try. I have always felt a good haircut was worth it so I chose to see the owner. Walking in, I knew I had made the right choice. The salon looks and feels different from any salon I have been to, and I've been to alot being an army brat. I was treated well and I left looking good and feeling great!

I just recently went to this salon to have my hair done by 1of the 2 stylists that characterize themselves as specialist in black/texturized or naturally curly hair for a cut and color. I was more than disappointed when I left the salon with my curls all frizzed out. The cut was really a trim, nothing special was done to shape my hair and my highlights are uneven (one color at the base and another an inch down). A cut and color comes with a salad and glass of wine, I never got the wine, but the only good thing about my experience was the salad. Perhaps they should focus on food and cigars. Now I have to pay another stylist to correct my color and give my an actual haircut. I will never go back to that salon and until the stylist actually learns how to style naturally curly hair, she shouldn't call herself a specialist and should lower her prices.

I heard about laru ni hati when I came to complete my medical training. My boyfriend, now husband, and I have been seeing Gregory who is also one of the owners. From the beginning we both felt comfortable letting him do whatever he felt looked good. We still go in with the same high expectations and he has never let us down. We also like the salon atmosphere - very comfortable.

My partner took me to this happening salon in the middle of my favorite part of Albuquerque. She knew I was feeling sad and knew what would make my day. Her stlist, gregory didn't waste a minute and I left feeling like a million bucks. This is my hair place from now on.

I went in with long hair for a trim with Greg. I came out with a pageboy haircut. I expected more since I was paying a good amount. I ended up waiting for Greg first off, then he kept leaving me throughout the cut and then his hair apprentice styled it. How ridiculous! I ended up spending twice the amount of money because I had to schedule an emergency haircut with Chez D'Or, which ended up with terrific results.

The best stylist I ever had in albuquerque worked here. Unfortunately she left, I was told, out of state. I am not sure if this is true, as I later heard another stylist left for another salon in albuquerque and her clients were told the same thing. In any case, I tried several other stylists, including the owner, and never found one who could give me the same quality results. In fact, the owner made a mistake and when I went back to have it fixed he was not there, so I had someone else fix it. After that, I got the super-cold treatment from him, so I stopped going. It's been a couple years now, so I go in for the products, because they have a fantastic selection of products that is unrivaled in the city.

Moving to ABQ this year I was really worried about finding a good place for my hair. I am anti-aveda so I wanted to find a small high quality and high service place to go. We just happened to walk past here one day. I am really happy to see Greg for my hair.

Fantastic classy hair salon. When you go make sure to ask for Sarah McIntosh, voted best colorist in albuquerque!! Can be difficult to get an appointment with her but its deffinately worth the wait. Very classy attentive service served with a complimentary latte or other drink of your choice. And great prices for such a highly skilled colorist.

i made an appointment at laru ni hati salon after receiving a haircut downtown that looked better in the picture than on my head. Greg spent lots of time listening and offering me options and when he was done my hair looked great without a big blow-dry fuss! the salon carries products that i was able only to find online. fantastic!

Greg's been cutting my hair for years. He maintains my hair in a functional, easy, towel-dry-and-go kind of cut that's perfect for me. Laru Ni Hati even offers 'between cut' trims for free.

Ambiance @ Laru Ni Hati: wonderfully original and funky. It's the only shop on this planet where you can play pool, drink a beer, buy a cigar, enjoy a Cuban cafe menu item, surf the 'net and get a great hair cut too.

I have been going to Laru Ni Hati for years. In fact, after I moved Hollywood I continued to make special trips back just to get my hair done here. There is only one man I will let touch my hair. He has always made me happy with short cuts, mid length or whatever I asked for. The atmosphere is the best in town and even ahead of it's time with LA standards. I love the music and the food is great too. I would recommend Laru to anybody.

Highly recommend all services with this salon -- the staff is very knowledgeable and takes the time to discuss all aspects of your hair including daily routine. I was given excellent advice and walked out looking fabulous. Cut was easy to maintain and grew out well. I have visited this salon for many years and I would only trust my hair to this team of professionals.

I live in Belen and will not go to any hairdresser in this town or this county. Been there, done that. For the past five years, my daughters and I have always gotten excellent haircuts at Laru Ni Hati. What I like best is that the hairdresser always studies the shape of the face and texture of the hair and makes recommendations. For example, my youngest daughter had long hair and told Greg to cut it short. After studying her face and her hair, he began cutting. She loves it and has had so many compliments. The staff is very friendly and makes sure that you are comfortable. I strongly recommend this salon if you want a quality haircut.

Although I've sought it out for many years (or decades), I never really believed I could get a haircut that was truly "low maintenance" and would look great without significant amounts of hair product, pulling on a round brush and/or burns from a curling iron. Now I can literally let my hair dry naturally with no product and it looks like it is styled every time. Each haircut from Greg comes with his personal attention to the texture and "personality" of my hair so that the style is reproducible. It's a simple concept; yet, one I haven't encountered in all many years of haircuts and hairstylists.

I have gone to the salon three times hoping for the great cut I hear about, the days when Delana worked there are gone I see... Each time my stylist has been friendly and conversational, but has never done what I asked with my hair; at least the air of superiority was in small doses, right? I am used to paying a good amount for cuts, I went to the same stylist in Denver for three years, he was meticulous, treated his work like an art form- the way stylists should. From my last visit to Laru I now have a short choppy bob, not what I asked for, a nicked ear, not what I was expecting, and no desire to try again. Over priced doesn't even begin to justify my loss, I had to write a warning, I am one girl who wishes the owner of this locally owned shop cared at all- I would complain to him if I thought it would make any difference to him and the pretentious stylist.

from the moment i walked in, i knew i was in for a treat.
the receptionists knew who i was before i told them.
there was a short wait to see the owner - greg who was recommended to me by a co-worker.
before he washed my hair, we sat and talked for 15 minutes.
he wanted to figure out who i was and how he could bring my hair back to life.
the best part was, he gave me a haircut that looks great and i dont have to spend time on.
i sent my husband to him.
my husband has had the same haircut for 15 years.
not anymore, he has joined the 21st century.

I went in to get some color done. They didn't have bright pink or purple ( I was shocked since they seem so cosmopolitan) so I had to bring my own color. I chose some Manic Panic purple and hot, hot, hot pink. I asked the counter person for a price because I saw no price board. He said it would be around $80 since I wasn't getting a haircut. I thought it was steep but went for it anyway because the chick hairdresser seemed so cool. While I waited for my appointment I ate a Cubano Sandwich, which was tres delicious! The girl did a fabulous job on my hair (purple underneath and pink on top-no bleaching because I have naturally blond hair). I want to make it clear that all she did was apply color I brought (no foils just pins), sit me under a heater, wash color out and condition, and comb out my hair (no dryer). She worked on me for 45 minutes minus dryer time of 20 minutes. During those 20 minutes she worked on someone else.

SHE CHARGED ME $180-! I about threw up! If I had known it was going to be that much I would have taken my business elsewhere. This shop is for wealthy people who don't mind overpaying for services. I am not one of them.

I will go back for sandwiches but never any hair stuff! They were very snobby about the experience and treated me like I was stupid. A price quote is a price quote! I got scammed. Don't let the same thing happen to you. She even admitted she charged me the same had she provided the hair color or not.

i went to laru ni hati on the recommendation of a friend. i have just moved to Albuquerque and was nervous about my first hair experience here. i had trouble finding the salon because it doesn't look like a salon from the street. when you walk in, you first see the Cuban cafe and then the hair salon toward the back.
i went with my boyfriend and after my appointment, stayed for lunch.
the salon owner gave me one of the best haircuts i have ever had and was able to recommend products that keep the look fresh even here in the desert.
my boyfriend thinks it looks hot so ill be back!

best haircut from anyone anywhere and it was done after a long consultation.
he took the time to talk to me and absorb who i was before using his experience and talent to create a hairstyle that doesn't need to be 'styled' to look good. if i put a little time and effort into it, it looks great.
it was cut in october and it's still going strong. the environment is down to earth and yet charged with options not found in many hair salons. i ended up having a cuban sandwich and bought my boyfriend a hand rolled dominican cigar. there was a child next to me getting the same care that i was. i would recommend the owner to anyone who wants an artist to handle their hair.

I dont think this place knows if it wants to be a hair salon, cigar shop, card shop or fried food restaurant. Whatever it is they need to make up their mind. I went for a haircut, I waited while the hairdresser ate her lunch and then she didnt even wash her hands. Hair cut was sub par and it was the worst blow-dry I have ever experienced. Before I relocated, I went to a top notch salon. You would leave feeling like you stepped out of a magazine. This place was a far cry from that, and they charge way to much for their level of skill. The hair stylist did not do what I asked. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

If you are looking for a salon that is creative with a fun environment, you should for sure try Laru Ni Hati. The atmosphere is exciting and bright. It has a daytime club feel with neon lights, cuban cigars, alternative and tech music playing, and great food that you can try for free while getting your hair done. This is the only salon in Albuquerque where I've wanted to come back. The workers are young and energetic and you always feel welcomed.
