I have read the other reviews and I disagree. For one, Southwest childcare is excellent in all areas. For two, there is the most diverse population of children there from hispanic to african-american, to asian american, to anglo...you name it. Very diverse. That is the main reason I enrolled my children so they learn appreciation for people as people and not because of the demographic backgrounds. And people, have you ever put a leaf under a piece of paper and broke a crayon on purpose to rub the texture of the leaf on the paper? Broken crayons are a good thing. I am not worried about my child choking on a broken crayon because they are being supervised. And...forget the broken crayon, there is sand outside, bark, etc. In other words, a child can and will choke on anything and everything. That is why adults supervise them! Which this facility is excellent at doing!

I love southwest childcare. My kids have been to all three locations and they are all equally exceptional. There is lots of structure and hands on activities for my children's exploration. The food is excellent as well with caring cooks

I would rate this one a zero. After many months, my son was sprayed with bleach by another 4 year old. I was told by the teacher Carla she handed the boy a bottle to help clean as he asked, I was told by the director Natalie that she said he snatched it. Today the Owner Kyle Smith .. asked me to take my kids out of school because I threatened to go to the state licensing and said it did not happen like I said. Yet my son has bleach all over his shirt. Who the F*&k lets kids in reaching distance of bleach, this could have blinded my son or worse. I just filed with the licensing and filing a child neglegence with the police department today, if I am not satisified with this, I will be filing suit. I believe they are are allowing the teacher to continue with no real consequences and this affects our children's health. NO THANKS!

SWCCC Is the worst day care center provider I have ever used. My children were the only black children in the center and with in the second day of joining they were being put on a corrective action REASON: Not walking in line and we are talking about a 6 and 8 year old..When I walked into the day care there many children jumping up and down all over the place not listening throwing objects fighting and their parents spoke to me and advised me that their children had never been on a corrective action...well my two AFRICAN AMERICAN children were on one with in 2 weeks of attending that place and I will never subject them to such a place ever again.. They higher children to watch children... I called licensing on them and will be following up with a lot more!

When I looked for a child care center there were three main factors: The human factor, the health factor and the happiness factor. As I pulled into the parking lot of Southwest Childcare Center I felt all three factors flowing strongly immediately. The first thing I noticed and loved was the abundant outdoor play areas. Fresh air and space to grow and play were things that lacked at our previous center. The children at SWCC get outdoor time everyday year-round. Both inside and outside, each age group has its own designated, segregated area so you will rarely see big ones knocking over little ones. Moving indoors, the areas are set up for the specific needs of the children that play there. The facility is spacious, clean and fun.

But the most important factor is the human one. All the people at SWCC, from the big boss to the janitors, the admin staff to the teaching assistants, are the most brilliant and comforting element at SWCC. Daycare isn??t just a place to dump my child while I work. The people she spends her day with are raising her with me. They spend as much, (sometimes more) time with her than I do. They are teaching her how to be a person, a student and a friend. To me the people are the factor that makes or breaks a center and I couldn??t have hand-picked a better staff then I have found at SWCC. My daughter has been there before she could walk, almost 3 years now. The only thing I would change, is adding elementary school to we didn??t have leave in a few years.

My children are SAFE, happy and kept stimulated with projects. The staff are wonderful, turnover is very limited. I do recommend SWCC any chance I get. The professionalism with which the daycare is ran is way above average.

My 2-rd old child was enrolled at SouthwesSouthwest Child Care Centers which had not provided an, adequate, organized, structured learning environment for my 2-yr old. As a result, there was a high level of "misbehaving" among students. My daughter was bit 7 times in a month. Each time I spoke with management regarding how they planned to address the issue. I was told it was normal but they would employ some strategies. She continued to be bit until they disenrolled her because I, her mother, would not take "Normal" for an answer. I felt that there is no parent involvement. There is no music or sports. The nutritional segment of the program for which my daughter was involved often consisted of fast-food days. Overall, from my own personal experience, I felt that the level of the learning environment was poor. Upon some research I found the teacher to student ratio was not as good as other schools. The cleanliness of the school was not good. I would highly suggest reading more reviews on this facility before making decisions.t Child Care and not properly cared for due to a lack of knowledge

Pros: staff does the best they can, however, overworked and overloaded

Cons: lack of management supervision, fast-food days, cleanliness non-existent, not organized learning, lack of student discipline,

A euphemism for Southwest Child Care's philosophy of the biter. In a month my 2-yr old was bitten over 7times. Once in the face. "Its perfectly normal", "2-yr olds are a different animal" "There's things we can do to prevent biting", "We're working on it", "Some kid thought her arm was lunch", until finally, "You're going to need to come get her immediately". These are quotes of explanations given to me for the constant biting my daughter was enduring. Ridiculous and in my opinion, this is really abuse. The director decided that it was just too much to try & resolve and so chose to protect the abuser rather then the victim; my daughter. Furthermore, she didn't like my month-long inquiries as to how they'd fix it. The morning I left work to pick up my daughter I was sick & shocked to see her sitting on the front steps w/the receptionist, along with a bag of her belongings. Kicked-Out of daycare because her mother would not take "Normal" as a good enough explanation for her being bit over 7 times. Because her mother refused to allow her to continue to be abused for anything. Not for the hassle of finding another daycare, time off work, extra money, driving more, NOTHING! I didn't receive an answer as to how long she sat there-on those steps, in the sun. Once in the car she repeated "Mama hungy", although they claim she ate. Things were missing from her bag. They sent me across town to pick up my check for the remainder of August, 2-days later; it was for the wrong amount. I wonder how many people know how the star rating works (that just started in NM in '06) works...For instance, 2-stars is given if you have a kitchen; 3-stars if you provide a compensation package to your employees. What of the $15 key-fob for 'security' for a door that would never close? What of the box of wipes emptied in a wk, yet she was filthy every day? Oh, but according to the director, "Clean children are not happy". What about the box of broken crayons which pose a choking hazard? Oh, this was hidden from the auditor. Are stars removed for these sorts of things? They should be. I did file a complaint with CYFD, but it really boils down to they're word against mine. Who am I? But a parent that won't take no for an answer. Oh, but then should any parent? My daughter is now enrolled in a smaller facility, Jefferson Discovery Montessori, that really has it together and we are truly happy!! The Montessori philosophy is to educate the senses 1st, 2nd is the intellect...Thanks for "listening"!

I love the childcare available at this facility, my daughter has been in attendance for 3 months and the care givers are wonderful. Some of the faculty has however overstepped their bounds regarding CYFD help, regarding what can and cannot be provided, be sure to speak to the director and not just the front desk staff.

Also my only other cause for concern at this facility is the nutritional needs of the children. The food is provided in the tuition, but it's not as nutritional as one would think. My 13 month old was fed enchiladas one day and ended up with a horrible rash, and vomiting, diarreha, she was sick for several days as a result of this. I had never heard of feeding a one year old child enchiladas as a meal, and I am native to NM.

It seems this occurs regularly as after the incident I began to look at the daycare menu and the food provided, they also do serve the little ones sweets, such as cookies, popsicles, doughnuts, so be sure to ask about a menu before enrolling your little one here, if you are concerned. Also beware for parties or special occasions they will feed you lil' one McDonald's Happy Meals, so be on guard if you don't want to taint you lil' one's taste buds with fast food just yet.

PROS: GREAT daycare staff
CONS: crappy nutritional program

I have been sending my older daughter to this daycare for 7 years and now I am also sending my infant daughter as well. The staff just bends over backward for the comfort of the child. Their infant care has just gotten so much better over the years. The director is just awesome.
