Rollerskate city is, by far, one of the cleanest rinks you will find in country. I travel the u.s. for work and my skates go with me. This rink was renovated in 2009, and is clean, and well maintained. All the skates were replaced in 2009, and the floor is resurfaced once a year. The managers are all adults, and are extremely professional. I've been skating for 47 years, and I'm proud to call Rollerskate City my home rink.

Been to Roller Skate City twice - will say that the service wasn't great, but the employees at least seemed friendly. Unfortunately that's the best I can say. I live in the surrounding neighborhood, and many times in the past several months have been awakened at all hours of the night due to the loud music booming from inside this place. Sounds like the employees like to have parties there after hours - in fact, I was awake til *6 AM* on Thanksgiving morning waiting for these morons to shut up and go home.

I believe part of the character of a business is whether or not it integrates well into its community - these little boys and girls (they're definitely not grown up!) obviously don't give a crap about the neighborhood and have little to no consideration for the people who live around them.

Roller Skate City = EPIC FAIL. My suggestion? Bulldoze it and improve the neighborhood!

I'm a mother of 3 and it is important to me to make certain by childs birthday is special. I also have many years experience in customer service and/or dealing with the public on a personal level so i understand the importance of giving "good customer service." You disappointment 1 person...you disappoint as many as 15 others as well because the word travels fast! So with that being said I'm bothered by the previous stories I have read about Roller Skate City and its staff. I was interested in having my soon-to-be 9 yr. old daughter's birthday party there because that's was she asked for and now I have completely changed my mind due to what I have read. It's very influential and upsetting to hear the type of service that was given. Skate City you should really listen to what people are saying about your business and follow-up. I myself attended these roller sessions when it was called "Roller King" as a teen and it hasn't changed!!!! It's still looks dirty, old and has an uncalled for odor! If I really had a say so in this place being shut down and reconstructed I would petition for it. And the staff being a group of teens including the manager is already unprofessional and unethical. Nothing against the kids but these are children who are only looking for money to put in there pockets...they should not be running the place on their own. I'm disappointed and not at all interested in giving Roller Skate City any of my business.

9 out of 10 times we've gone to Skate City, we were overcharged. We were often charged for a rental, though we've very clearly stated we had our skates. If not overcharged, we paid for two sessions to end up stamped for 1. The ONLY time the manager worked with us when we brought it to his attention, was when we used plastic and could produce a receipt. Which is stupid, since I imagine about 90% of paying customers use cash. It makes it hard not to feel like they rip people off on purpose.

The lesson, if you can, pay with debit/credit so you will have a receipt! OR, pay close attention when paying cash, so if you are overcharged or under stamped, you can get it fixed right then and there. I don't know about anyone else, but this happens to us ALL the time!

Pros: Good exercise and entertainment for daughter.

Cons: bad manager, spaced out staff, repeatedly overcharged

****This is not for Roller king this place is under new Mgt. and now called Roller Skate City. Same place new mgt.******* I paid $140.00 yesterday to have the worst birthday experience I have ever encountered for my seven year old daughter. I paid for two hours of skating and reserved table. My party was only able to skate for one hour. They were not prepared at our scheduled time for us delaying our party 25 min and then proceeded to tear our table down and throw our belongings on the floor at 20 till our end time. They had new people sitting at our table while I the parent was sitting on the floor trying to gather all 13 kids shoes and jackets. Two of my daughters presents were taken probably by the party they sat at our table which included six outfits and a digital camera. The staff was extremely rude including the manager on duty. The entire staff other than Manager were all teenagers. The people that they sat at our table during the time which I was still paying for were upset that we were there. I have never been treated so bad in my entire life like I was at Roller Skate city. The parents of the kids at my party were completely apalled at the way they conduct business and the rude behaviors that were displayed. I know for certain that there are 15 families that will not waste there money or time to be treated with disrespect due to yesterdays incident. I am putting this out there to warn other familes to not waste their special day which only comes once a year on this place.

Thanks Roller King and Staff. I am sad to hear you are closing. Many folks have skated your floor and the best of times were had. You made Roller Hockey work and have been an asset to the community. Beyond all of that you gave a place for youth to go and enjoy good, clean fun. Skaters, young and old, have lost their last place to indoor skate in Albuquerque, and that is sad. I feel lucky to have used your facilities for the past 10 years, always felt welcome and appreciated. Good luck Ken, Vince and family in the future.

Pros: Great fun, high value for the buck

Cons: Falling Down

Roller King hasn't changed in 15 years. The owners invest little or nothing to improve this old facility. More over, it is dirty and run by teenagers. It is rare that I see an adult in a management position. The skates are very old and in disrepair. Essentially, Roller King has a monopoly on the roller rink market in Albuquerque and they know it. Unfortunately, they have very low standards and/or are motivated only by money. We would go skating much more often if the Roller King experience was more pleasant.

I had the worst experience at Roller King. The first time I went there I thought it was just a fluke. The place is dirty and there are too many inconsiderate people there. I have never felt more disgusted at a skating rink. Since I thought it was a fluke, I went back after a few months. I love skating and unfortunately this is the only skating rink i could find in town. Needless to say they kicked me out for skating backwards! there are no rules posted and the manager was very rude when i brought it up to him. They were so worried about me skating backwards that the ref's were not paying attention to any of the little kids that were actually in harms way. Im 25 years old and i feel that i know how to be safe, i had to turn around and help some of the little kids up that were laying in the middle of the floor. Not only is there facility unsanitary but their employees are rude. I would suggest that NO ONE go there.

I am usually a very easy person to please and usually dont write bad reviews about ANYONE, but i felt that this needed to be said.

I grew up skating in Portland, Oregon, and practically lived at the rink. Today I brought my child to the rink for the first time, and I have to say there are some suggestions I would like to make to help improve the quality of skating at this rink.

The skate shop was extremely disorganized, and the person at the counter seemed to be disinterested in providing good service. There were no keys for the lockers, and several had old drink cups in them, and were infested with gnats.

The skating surface wasn't cleaned properly, and there were no employees on the floor to manage skating conduct, and safety during open skating session.

The rink itself was dirty, and unpleasant.

I see these things as problems that can be remedied without too much trouble. It would be nice if roller skating could be promoted to an activity that children and adults could look forward to in a place that is clean, well organized, and fun. I would like to see a renewal of roller skating as an international sport as it was when I was a competitive skater.

At my rink we had a skating club, and traveled all over the state to competitions, and I participated in state, regional, and Junior Olympics contests. Our club was a family, and we supported each other, and had fund raisers to help promote the rink, and to help with travel expenses to Nationals. We had people from all walks of life who worked as coaches, and we even had someone who would design and sew costumes.

It would be great to see this happen at your rink, and I hope you take this as a constructive review intended to help to improve your rink.

Nice place to go and hang out with friends, or a place to take the kids. They offer lockers so you can lock your things away while you are out on the floor. You can have parties there, and although I have never had one there, they seem to be a lot of fun. (I believe they give you the food from the snack bar). The prices are good, the music is upbeat, and if you go at night they play games where you can win prizes. I would vote it the best roller skating place in abq, however I know of no others so that might be cheating. ;)

Great place to hang out with your family and exercise! :-) There play great music to skate to and the snack bar is typical. The DJ usually takes requests and will dedicate songs if you ask them.
