I totally disagree with the review I just read. My husband and I are from the East where we had many excellent restaurants and think Peppers is very good. I sort of agree about the owner, but the food has always been better than average. However, we do not eat Mexican food as we aren't familiar with the taste and don't like spicy foods. Why would you keep trying green chili if you were not happy with first time? I certainly will give Peppers at least a 4 star rating.

I visited Alamogordo last weekend and ate at Peppers twice. The first time I had the green chili stew. It was okay, but nothing exciting. The potatoes were not fresh and obviously canned. The meat had a lot of gristle in it. Not a lot of flavor... The second meal I had was green enchiladas and they were very bland and a bit pricey. I expect at least refried beans and rice with a plate of enchiladas, and all they did was sprinkle some lettuce and tomato over them. Again, nothing exciting. The owner/manager, Dwight Hartman, comes across as very arrogant and obviously doesn't give a da*n whether his customers are happy or not. He just scowls and looks surly at everyone. Not an enjoyable place. Parking lot is also hazardous if you wear dress shoes. Waitstaff was decent, but I can't imagine it is a very pleasant place to work.

The food was average to below average. It didn't taste bad, but it didn't taste good. It had no taste at all. The management stoups to ridicule when You try to give them an opinion. If you have not tried this place good for you. leave it that way.

I proposed to my wife at Pepper's 2 years ago and the food wasn't that great then. We returned in Oct 2006 and the food hasn't improved. The ribs had no taste to them and the BBQ sauce they offered was bland, the baked potato was warm (not hot) when served. The choices of side dishes (ie: beans, breads, veggies, etc) was limited. The Merlot was served at room temp - we had to use the ice from the water glass to make it drinkable. Overpriced for the quality! The service was acceptable but the servers could clean up a little and wash their uniform once and awhile.

PROS: Exotic menu items; calamari, lobster, etc
CONS: Overpriced for the area

This place has got great food, and the best hamburgers ever. Plenty of parling but you might want to make resv. for evening dining.

For an upscale restaurant you would expect more quality. The food is mediocre and the personnel is worse. People look like they are anorexic and need nurishment fast. the prices are beyond what laymen can afford and I cannot figure out why, the food is lousy.

PROS: NONE
CONS: PRICES/STAFF
