I feel that some people is glue to the glitter. If They don't see an expensive office they think the agency is not good enough.
My experience with applause is being great. I never got an audition from other agencies the only thing I receive from the others was the bill of taking pictures over and over and over. And I hope that people realize that this is not Los Angeles to get auditions all the time, its Albuquerque in the case that you forget.

I work on a lot of television and film sets, both as an actor and as crew. The best placements I have seen recently on nationally broadcast television shows filmed in Albuquerque have been from the Applause Agency.

A representative of the organization recently offered me the opportunity to sign with Applause. I was already impressed with what I had seen, but just to be sure called Elizabeth Gabel, who is the probably the best and most-respected casting director in New Mexico. She said Applause was excellent, don't generally take on new clients, and that I should jump on the opportunity, which I am doing without hesitation. Having worked with agents and managers in NYC for a number of years, I can testify that the size or impressiveness of an office should not be the basis for how you judge a business. Quality and results are a much better gauge! As to the "chaos" someone described - I would say that's a pretty good sign that they're busy, which is a very very good thing... I am represented by Lenni at Applause. I used to be with another agency and rarely had auditions through them. Since being with Applause, I have been sent for jobs I could actually conceive of getting... mostly because I'm able to audition for them. Very professional operation. And in response to one of the comments below... the sign of a good agent is that they don't just take on anyone who comes their way - the less clients represented the better. An LA actor told me that the mark of a good agent is that they only represent 30 clients max. In New Mexico this is not a reality anywhere, but Applause keeps the numbers down and you can feel the difference. Thumbs up for Applause

We have been with Applause for a couple of years now (we started at the "dingy" old office, and followed Lenni to her new office). This is a tough business and Applause is about as good as your going to get in Albuquerque. Lenni is down to earth and friendly, does not put on airs and works hard for her clients. She only takes 10% (union or non-union) and is always fair. Are we always working on acting jobs? No. But that is not the agents fault. Your agent gets you the audition - YOU get the job! Both my children and my husband are with Applause and of the three, only my son has had speaking roles for national television - but that isn't to say the other two haven't tried! As for not taking in new talent - we walked in off the street from a previous agency and signed the same day!

I do not know what the last review meant. This agency has had the same person, running it, for some years now. I know people in this agency. They are happy enough but, I do not see the reason, for the agency to be on the web anymore. They are not taking in any more people. I was told this. Even if they did. The owner will not talk to new talent, without a good referral. So, if you are new to the field. I guess you can forget about Lenny talking to you. Which does not matter since, she does not take in talent anymore. That is what some of the Applause actors have told me.

Pros: Some work is there.

Cons: No more new talent.

Since 'YUCK' review of agency, Applause Talent Agency (ATA) has completely turned around w/new ownership. Agency is now running a tight, clean operation out of a new, state of the art office in different local. Owner/agent Lenni Davey brings experience and class to the operation.

This "agency" was really just a couple of grungy rooms in a run down strip mall. We went there for an audition and it was total chaos. They didnt have enough seats for half the people, the person in charge was running around snapping at people, and there was no order at all. The photographer they used was okay but seemed very rushed. The building was in terrible condition. The carpets were nasty and it seemed like it never got cleaned. From this experience i would not use this business again.
