Walking around Taos on a cold and quiet day, I happened upon an interesting find among the made-in-China knick knack and souvenir shops. Beautifully handcrafted and signed peace pipes made from indigenous materials, and the artist actually owns and operates the shop! Little Lake was very friendly and informative, and showed me how he made "my pipe". He also filled me in on the the history and use of peace pipes, among other Native American informational tidbits. Talented friends and relatives from the Taos Pueblo contribute their art for sale, in the form of leather, earth fired pottery, music and other truly authentic items. NOT to be missed!
