Mediocre at best, but worst of all, one of the worst service rendered by an arrogant waitress. The quality of food has definitely gone down compared to 2008 when we first visited this establishment. The owner seriously needs to consider

Absolutely delicious and VERY entertaining. I was searching for a perfect place that made a special evening yet could handle a 1,2 and 4 year old. The staff was so kind and not pushy at all, they only asked that we "please" be on time for our resservations and I could see why. It was a very busy place. There was a range of prices so you can fit it to your budget ($13 - $24).

Pros: Fun, Delicious, Perfect for all occassions and ages

Japanese kitchen has a sushi bar and teppan. They have a large variety of sushi with goood quality. The teppan is also good and the chefs are always fun to watch. The downside is the prices...dinner is on the pricy side.

This is my favorite Japanese restaurant in town. I've tried several others and while I've had some really good meals at other places, I've never found them to be as consistent in terms of quality and service. One thing that might influence my view is that by boyfriend tends to order some specials from the board. We really like the Toro (fatty tuna) and hamachi (yellowfin) and some kind of mackerel when they have it -- a bit fishy but really healthy and beautifully presented. I love their Unagi (fresh water eel -- may sound horrible if you haven't tried it but it's mild, slightly sweet and buttery) and their Las Vegas roll, which has salmon and avocado, The service is gracious, even when they are busy. Excellent, consistent quality, especially for the desert. . . . I highly recommend this restaurant.

This place isn't all that great, it used to be but there are far better sushi bars in Albuquerque now. I think this place charges too much for food and service that isn't worth it. I would rather go to Samurai or Azuma personally.

We took some out of town guests for lunch at this establishment I have to say i was impressed. The prices were good for lunch and the "show" the chef put on at the table was okay. It obviously isn't the show that is put on for the dinner time crowd but we expected this. The atmosphere is "family" style which was nice, our large group of 7 sat with one other couple. It wasn't very crowded for lunch and we were seated and served quickly which was nice. The food was really good, the soup was intresting (beef broth with mushrooms) it came with the meal no choice in it. Again we were there for lunch so I don't know if there is a bigger menu for dinner. The main course was a meat served with veggies and fried rice. I would go again just for that fried rice. Loved it.

The only draw back was that we had a child with us, they do not offer a child's menu for lunch. He had to pay the full adult price for a meal that he didn't eat (he's 3). Despite that our whole party enjoyed the meal.

If you do go here don't forget to tip your cook! The couple we dined with didn't realize that!

PROS: great food, fast service, good prices (for lunch)
CONS: no kids menu for lunch, "family style" not intimate

albuquerque is dry and rough, you need some delicate art in the food to bring people some moisture. the sushi in this restaurant is freshly made out of the most variety you can get in this high desert. common ones like sammon, tuna and shrimp are already good, crab ones are my favorite. if you don't mind paying a premium, go for the sushi boat, it has like 30 different sushis, more than I can name. two people can get pretty much satisfied out of the sushi boat, watching the chef working is also a enjoyment.

Japanese Kitchen is really two restaurants in one: a teppanyaki place and a separate, quieter and more sophisticated sushi bar situated in a business tower across the plaza. The main restaurant is fun if you place entertainment value on…
