The animals that are kept here are given conditions under which to survive but not to thrive. That is what keeps them from being condemned - because they are given at least enough to survive, even though it's not a quality life. The animals have a horrible life there. Without people speaking up and against them, those poor animals have no chance. That place really needs to be shut down but because they are given bare basics, there is no authority to do so. The public has to speak up against this place.

This place should be condemned!!!! I took my family there and we got through the entire "zoo" in 10 Minutes. What a waste of $20.00!!! Horrible conditions!!! Would not recommend this to anyone!!!! OH not to mention that our stroller wheels were covered with bird feces and who knows what else. I had to wipe it off before putting it in the vehicle. What a nightmare!!

The children especially love this zoo. Because of a petting area that they have. They can also feed these animals. There are many animals to see. They also have an aligator, a lion, monkeys. It is really a fun place to go to. My grandchildren always love to go there.

We took the kids for grandma's visit. The parking was oddly marked so we parked on the dirt next to the fence. As soon as we got out of the van we were greeted by 2 wayward peacocks out for a stroll. The smell of urine hits you immediately but it is only by the back building we parked near.

There are more birds than you know what to do with but the constant movement of the birds kept the kids amused and laughing the entire time we were there. My son loved feeding the different kinds of birds especially the baby chicks. The best deal on seed was to buy a cup where you buy the entrance ticket for $1 and they recycle the cups so be sure to bring it back to them. You can also buy food for the goats.

It is a small zoo but they make due with the limit space and funding. There is enough for a small child to enjoy the zoo experience without being bored and you don't feel bad with the price either. They had a senor rate for grandma and there was a 50% off coupon for the kid's ticket online.

The birds did get to be a pain but only for the adults. The kids loved it. It is worth this little annoyance to see the fun your kids will have here.

The Las Vegas zoo is nothing to brag about. Yes you get to see animals, but they are in such small cages that it will bake you cry. These animals need to be in bigger places to roam and play. Yoiu can get a better zoo buy sitting on the strip and people watching.

This place is very dirty. Not alot of different animals. There are alot more birds than anything. There were roosters walking around which I didn't like. We had the stroller with us and the concrete was rough and bumpy and difficult to maneuver through with the stroller. Alot of the animals were hiding and we couldn't even see them. Not a very fun place for the kids. Pretty boring.

When my brother was younger we used to go here all the time. They had alot more animals and alot more to see. We watched the place go downhill. Its still a fun place to go sometimes but mostly we just stay away. After visiting the Cali zoo's we never went back to this one.

I have only been here once, it was in the summer. As you can guess with the Las Vegas heat, the animals were not taking it well. MOst of them were sleeping . They did have a few playful monkeys and an alligator. It is great to take small kids. They will enjoy it, but I would recommend visiting in the winter.

The Southern Nevada Zoo is the farthest from a zoo. It stinks on Ice, or in there case heat. When you drive there all it looks like is someones Duplex. The animals do look despreat.

PROS: Ok staff
CONS: Out of controle just horrible

This place was gross. It smelled aweful. There were birds and bird droppings everywhere. My daughter is only 3, so she liked it, but it was aweful for the adults. The weather in Las Vegas is not suitable for a real zoo and this being the only zoo we have, gives you no choice if you want to take your child to see animals in Las Vegas. I'd much rather make the 4 hour drive to California to go to a real zoo. There is no shade for the people who pay to go into the zoo, and there is no place to sit that isn't covered with bird droppings. The animals looked depressing. The cages were small and the glass enclosures were filthy. It's really sad for the animals. The staff was friendly and it's a cheap admission, but you leave feeling bad.

well I went here for my daughters field trip and I was not impressed with this zoo. There were maybe a handful of animals and they all looked hungry and they didnt move. Not fun at all. We saw everything in one hour. Would not go back to this place.

As an animal lover, this zoo broke my heart. It's too hot outside to be housing animals that aren't used to this climate. It's heartbreaking to see all of these animals miserable and panting. They're lifeless. Something needs to be done!

This is a fun and inexpensive place to spend a few hours away from the hassle of the Strip or down town. It is a nice place to take the family. True it is small, but each time I go there I find something I had not seen or notices before.

PROS: Inexpensive and fun
CONS: Small size and walk to parking.

This is a great place for the family. Take the kids or a date. See exotic animals and birds in a relaxed atmosphere. You can buy a cup of feed at the front before you go through the zoo. It's so worth it! There are roaming peacocks that will eat birdseed from your hand. You can see the animals in a more intimate setting than in most zoos. There are lots of benches around that invite you to sit and enjoy the animals. This is a great value. Admission is $7 for adults and $5 for kids 2-12. Under 2 years are free. Open 7 days a week 9-5.

PROS: Unique Date Place
CONS:

I have been to MANY zoos around the country, including the Bronx Zoo, San Diego Zoo and others... and this one does not match their standards by any means. But, they do try - it is very old and does not cost much to get in. It is not a "habitat" for the animals, but the old fashion cages... sad for the animals. The kids do enjoy it though and the staff are friendly and helpful. Worth going to see once? Yes

I am oh-so disappointed with this zoo. They have the audacity to charge the amount that they do! It felt like I was in Panama, on someone's chicken ranch...wassup with all the chickens??! They belong on a FARM, not a zoo. All the animals looked tired and weary. The only shaded area I saw was the flamingos by the entrance. Bird droppings everywhere, dirty glass encasings...I swore I was back in New York. My daughters weren't even excited after entering...they felt sorry for the animals. They should really let those animals go to a more appropriate facility.

PROS: location
CONS: price, cleanliness (or lack thereof)

Every time I drive down Rancho, I try to turn off before we get close to the zoo. The smell permeating from that place is horrible! And there are so few animals there. Not worth the trouble.

For a place like Las Vegas I would think they would come up with something else for a zoo. When I was there most of the cages were empty with signs saying that the animal had just died. Then when there were animals, they seemed like the saddest creature I had ever seen. There are chickens and peacocks everywhere, even they didn't seem to happy and they have almost free roam of the whole zoo.

Although it is fun to walk around the zoo with peacocks following you, it is unpleasant to think that they have not blocked the birds from the picnic area. The few tables are so covered with feces you don't even want the birds to sit there. Gross. Even the animals seem sad. The tiger was making the most woeful sound I have ever heard! There is also a very friendly (and sad) monkey who loves to play with babies through the filthy glass window of his enclosure. I thought the staff was friendly and informative but not real good at cleaning. On a positive note, at least the indoor human bathroom was cleaner than the one the birds use!

I have been here a couple of times. It is the only thing close to a zoo in Las Vegas. It is really small, but they do the best with what they have. I especially liked the monkeys. It is really too hot here to have a zoo. They tiger and the lion were both asleep. They were exhausted by the heat. they havve seberal snakes, lizards, spiders, and turtles. I also had fun feeding the chickens. You have the options of purchasing chicken feed. It is kinda neat, because the chickens follow you throughout. This is great for small children.

I visited the zoo's website and it looked just amazing! I drove 20 mins only to discover it wasnt worth the time or money. Zoo?? It should be a chicken farm! I read on their site it was "shaded." Well the only shaddy parts of the zoo were the trees covering the animals, and even THEY looked miserable! It was the tiniest zoo I have ever seen. I could've sworn I saw 2000 birds (at least!) running free in such a small gated area. It took us less than ten mins to get through the whole thing and we tried very hard to take our time even though the sun was beating on us. After all this, I still cant believe how they can CHARGE people an admission!
