01/04/11: Took my dog in Monday with a ruptured dew claw and told Mark Claus that I wanted to be with my dog as much as possible before and after surgery because I wanted to be of comfort to her (as I wanted to be when my children were in the same situation). He told me that dogs were different than children. I said, how so: both have feelings. I just finished reading the other reviews and I totally agree with the negative reviews of Mr. Claus...he is unresponsive to his clients' need and should not be in the vet profession. Shame on him!

I wouldn't trust them. I took my dog there to get groomed and soon as he came home he was urinating blood . Had to take my dog to the emergency room since they were close at that time. He was at the emergency room all night. I couldn't sleep and was in such panic. I called the office the next day to find out what happened and they were very defensive and denied any wrong doing. Long story short at the emergency room they said my dog experienced trauma to his stomach. NEVER AGAIN

We have boarded our pet there several times. Last time we picked him up and he was filthy, had feces all over his paws. They had no idea where is blanket & toys were, which seemed odd, why werent they in his "run"? We honestly felt we paid for a run and he was caged with nothing. Beware, your pet may not be getting what you think! We are looking for a new vet & kennel.

Nina Suzuki is amazing. My dog got cancer, and after having a bad experience with a vet in Utah I took her to Dr. Suzuki on recommendation-- I will never go anywhere else again. She was so thorough, treated Liberty like the part of the family that she was, not just some terminal dog. From the initial visit to the eventual putting her down, I felt cared about, and that she was doing her best. It was an amazing experience with her

I expect more from a vet office than I peviously thought I did. After a few visits to dr claus I realized how dismissive he was of my opinion. My dog can't tell him what bothers her so why wouldn't he listen to what I observed. I'm not sure I trust his outlook for this reason. However the reason I changed vets was because of the front desk crew. I think the manager is very irritable and very hard on the girls and it shows. After 5 plus visits I now know that a happy welcome is much better than feeling like your annoying someone everytime you walk in, kinda like showing up at a restaraunt 10 minutes before they close and watching the employees angered that they won't be leaving on time.

My kitten had a broken leg and I brought her in to the doctor and ended up having to bring her in about 6 times for rechecks and bandage changes. Dr. Klaus was always very helpful and tried to levy the costs as much as he could. The kitten was originally going to need surgery and he was able to mend her leg without the surgery, saving me over $1200! Staff is always helpful and willing to answer any questions. This vet is wonderful :)

My husband and I bring our dog to South Shores Animal Hospital when we have to board him. They have a few themed rooms for the dogs, where they play 'dog themed' movies, have a nice soft bed, and get extra treats. My dog is always well taken care of, and they even offer a VIP treatment with extra walks, a blanket, and extra treats. We also use them for our vet services, and the staff has always been great!

PROS: Friendly staff, great boarding, awesome vets
CONS:

Dr. Claus was not observent of a couple things regarding my dog. I told him the background: dog found on the street, fur in knots, really energetic until shots, worm treatment and antibiotics. Seemed happy and energetic at first. Then started having major issues with vomiting, dehydrated, diarrhea, no energy, loosing hair, dandruff and cloudy eyes after he got his shots, worms and antibiotics. The dog is 2yrs. I had X-rays from another clinic to bring to this new vet that is close to my home. He didn't really look at the x-rays, he acted dismissive of my observations. I did a bunch of research and I thought Bentley had valley fever. Vet didn't believe me and recommended blood work. That is such a scam. Symptoms take more thinking skills and I can't stand when vets are quick to take the big money route. So I told him I wanted the meds for Valley Feverr and he said how Bentley was my dog and that I would be the one that would have to put him down if wrong. WHAT THE F*&#! That was so unneccisary.

PROS: The reception girls rock!
CONS: The one vet there is a non-thinker

Being new to Las Vegas and needing to board my dog, I was little hesitant to just pick a place and leave him for the weekend. Someone recommended South Shores to me and I will definitely take my dog back to stay. The staff was very friendly, the prices were ok ($18 for a large run) and I came home with all of my dog's things. I haven't taken him there for vaccinations yet, but there was a steady stream of people going in and out and the staff knew everyone (including pets) by name.

PROS: friendly atmosphere
CONS: takes a while to check in and out
