Scam alert. BUYER BEWARE.

This dealership attempted to pull a yo-yo financing scam on us on 1/3/15. It's very simple, let me explain how it works:

1. They give you an amazing low interest rate (2.99%). You agree and sign the papers. What they don't tell you is ... the deal's not done yet. The loan hasn't been finalized.

2. Honda West calls you after you drive off with your car (days, if not weeks later) that the financing 'fell through' and the new interest rate is higher.

3. You get screwed. Either you agree to pay more or you return the car.

That's the scam, and Honda West does this with approval from the management. The people I worked with: Jimmy in Finance and Shubao in Sales.

Other dirty tricks Honda West tried to pull on us:

Lie #1: Told us the lease buyout price wasn't negotiable. That's a lie. Source: help.edmunds.com/entries

Lie #2: Told us the buyout price was $13500 and then offered us a payment plan of $310 for 60 months. Dude, $310 times 60 equals $18600. That's a $5100 increase and another lie. He told us the $5100 were 'taxes and fees'. Tax is 9%. Where the hell did the other $4000 come from?

Lie #3: When I caught that the loan wasn't approved yet and that he was going to pull the yo-yo scam on my little brother the Finance guy told us: "Oh. All loans aren't approved prior to purchase." What the hell are you talking about? All loans are finalized prior to purchase of ANYTHING whether it's a car, a house, a condo, a boat, a student loan for tuition. All loan terms are finalized before a transaction or else why the hell are we signing papers?

Spreading the word on every social media outlet from Yelp to Dealer Rater about Honda West's dishonest practices. The few hundred dollars they tried to squeeze from my family is going to cost them far more than that. If you're smart, you'll stay away from Honda West. If you're dumb, you'll buy a car from Honda West and end up paying as much for a Honda as a BMW.

All we wanted was a quick, simple, and honest transaction but the people at Honda West have no integrity and no honor. You should have played fair, Honda West.

First, lets start with the initial buy... Took an entire month of haggling to get the payments the dealer, and myself agreed to... Jumping through their many hoops, and offering the keys back to them on a daily basis... Flat out rediculous... Less than a month after i recieved the plates from the dmv the battery failed.. a month after that, while on a road trip to oregon i found out the brakes were fried... The shop i took it to said it needed new rotors... not cheap on an s2000... Certified used car my @&&... Now comes the really fun part... The alarm they installed on the car that came with the gap insurance was wired in by twisting wires together and wrapped with electrical tape... Now, three years later the tape isn't sticky anymore, and the wires touched... The alarm is tied into the ecu, which is badically the car's brain... About a $2000 fix... Now the lovely people at honda west refuse to take responsibility for the damages, and are now denying puting the alarm in, and they are also denying that the car was even certified to begin with... if you are reading this on facebook please republish this... Nobody should buy here...

Wow we have owned Honda's for over 10years -- But with the service department representing Honda at Honda West it will be time for a Change - Their Sevice Manager Wayne Courtland (sp) is the worst he has no customer service skills and should not be in his position - Our car has been in there 7 times for the same problem and they refuse to fix it. I have now made a call to Honda's corporate office and hoping to get this resoved - Can't believe what a crummy job they do really gives HONDA a bad name -- WOULD NEVER TAKE MY CAR BACK TO HONDA WEST!

Horrible experience! Went to buy a Honda Civic - found the perfect car, but just because I'm a female the two male salespeople thought I was an idiot. Finally got what I wanted - signed the paperwork - then, when I received the final paperwork in the mail - the interest rate increased 2%!! The financial lady was rude and so was everyone else. I will never go back to this place and I will NEVER buy another Honda.

I purchased a 1998 honda civic ex 6 months ago for $5000. It had 140,000miles on it but was told it had one owner and was in mint condition. After a test drive I noticed when I put on the brakes that it may have something wrong with the brakes. I was told it was I was not used to the car. I bought the car thinking that because it was from the dealership that they have had to checked the vehicle completely. I soon found out after 2 days of driveing it had nothing to do with me and it was the car and sure enough I took the car in and found that they changed the rkae pads but not the rotors and they were bad. I called and complained and they fixed them and I thought my problems were over. Now here it is 6 months later and the transmission is haveing problems. I take it back in to them and they said I need a new trasmission along with a whole list of problems. I was overwhelmed. I presumed that the car would at least last me a year. I dont drive crazy and take it easy on the car. They want to charge me $4000 for a tranny. With no discounts for just getting the car from them. I was told from them that buying it used with that many miles something was gonna have to be done to it. Wow thank for the news breif. Here I am laid off with a child and little income and they dont even blink a eye. I got quoted $1500 somewhere else. Thank for nothing Honda.

Poor Customer Service from the Honda West Service Department:

I've been going to Honda West for over 11 years and I purchased a 2004 Honda there. I telephoned the service department and made an appointment 2 weeks in advance to have a radio display repaired and to have intermediate level maintenance performed on my '04 Honda. It wasn't a burnt fuse, and I explained that the radio functioned normally except the clock, volume amount, and radio station failed to be displayed. American Honda Motor Company published a Service Bulletin that covers the dim or dark Audio/HVAC display. It is a common problem and the bulletin covers a huge range of affected VINs among 2003 and 2004 models. American Honda Motor Company increased the warranty to 7 years or 100000 miles on the audio unit display. The culprit is a latent failure on an associated electronic printed circuit board (PCB). The service bulletin also includes a simple step-by-step repair procedure with photos for the auto technician. I called well in advance to have my radio display unit repaired under warranty, and the Honda West service department representative stated that he would be able to repair it today. This obviously implies that the PCB is readily available for replacement. I couldn't come in right away and scheduled for a later date. On the day of service, intermediate service was performed but I was informed that I would have to return to Honda West the following day because the PCB wasn't available. The service department management (Daniel Koneck) also told me that they would have to verify the PCB was the problem and not a fuse, and that they didn't stock the PCB. Are they taking lessons from the sales department? I won't be back.

Originally took my car in 5 mo ago and had to have cylinder replaced. When I got my car back, my car started overheating. I had to return it again for this problem they caused. Then they returned it to me again saying they fixed the overheating problem. I was stranded and had to have it towed 2 times after they returned it to me AGAIN for the overheating problem. Now, 5 mo later, my car overheats again. The hose they installed 5 mo ago is still under warranty, but they refuse to pay (saying the heat caused the hoses to explode. BS!). Service rep, Daniel Koneck & service manager, Wayne Kortlang, were completely rude and unethical. Daniel even sent away the tow truck I ordered to have my car picked up and sent to a different shop!!! I am now in mediation with Honda corporate and Honda West. I will NEVER take my car here again!!!

My 2005 Pilot required LOF and a gasket replacement, which had come loose, on the rear reflector lip of the windshield. A Thursday 9:00 am call to their local number for a scheduled service appointment ruined my day! Just couldn't get through. Recording after recording. I couldn't even get through for mthem to extend me the courtesy of a call back! Now that suks!! Forget them. Drive the extra miles and get real service at Desert Honda on Maryland Parkway.

Shortly after moving to Las Vegas our air conditioning system completely went out in a three year old Honda CRV. Our car was towed to Honda West and they said it was a $2800 fix. Since we have bumper to bumper coverage with our insurance company that visited the shop and confirmed the cost. I was not impressed with their service representative and have a feeling that we were being takenb advantage of.

We bought our Honda Odyssey from this dealer. They are a little pushy with the money down. What sucked is that our salesperson quite two days after we bought the car so a lot of paperwork was handled by someone who really didnt know what was going on.

Wanted a Honda Van. Knew the one we wanted and the color. All they had to do was be polite, reasonabe and work out a deal for us. Our saleman was fine but he was not allowed to quote prices or make any deals. All he was allowed to do was tell us about the van. They insulted us with the offer they gave us on a good condition Cadillac for a trade in and tried to accept an offer that was going to cost over $600 in monthly payments. Then when we wanted to leave we were insulted and they did not want to give us our keys. Husband took them and we left. Went to Ford and got a better Van for only $410.00 per month.

PROS: Nice cars
CONS: Bad sales manager

I shopped for 4 cars in the last 6 years, and this is what I would call a typical dealership. The salesman was pushy, the sales manager was eager to sell me something I don't want, and they were willing to drop their prices to unbelievably low marks to keep me in their shop. I was quoted an unbelievably low price for a 2004 Honda CR-V, but when I went back the next day with my checkbook, they told me that that quote was unrealistic and is no longer valid. I had to work hard to take off all the extra things they added to the vehicle, such as running board, visor, and a "collision and appearance package". If you have the nerves and patience to survive through the long hours of negotiation, and pay attention to the fine prints, you could probably get a decent deal here.
