After constantly fighting with the public school system here, Odyssey is a breath of fresh air. I never felt like the public school systems in Clark County knew my child, nor was the priority education; more it was on how to get the kids to sit quietly in class. They would rather have all the students fit into the same little box, but that's something my child really couldn't do... and I didn't WANT him to do.

The staff at Odyssey knows my child and the goals set are individualized to fit his needs, and not just the mechanical process of making the system grade. Since the students spend the majority of time at home, it is very important to understand that as a parent you also need to make the time commitment, as well as also participating in the many extra programs and classes offered to get the full benefits of the hybrid school system. You also travel to the campus anywhere from once a month to once a week for regular class time (sometimes more for special classes), depending on age and needs.

Not all schools are for everyone, but this one has been a perfect fit for us. My child has excelled far beyond what he was doing in public school, and he is a lot happier, and his confidence (damaged in the regular school system) has returned and ironically enough has helped him to be a more social individual. Despite all the gloom and doom stories we got from the public schools saying it'd destroy it, it's done the opposite... so long as you take advantage of the activities and classes and participate, you'll find it's a far healthier social environment than the poisonous air in the regular system.

I have been looking for a school like this for many years. I have children at many levels, and I was unable to "communicate" with the regular school system. When I moved to Las Vegas two years ago, a friend recommended Odyssey to me. It has been one of the best decisions I have made for my family. Not only does the school personalize the lessons for each child, they take the time to get to know my kids on a personal level. I have 3 kids in Odyssey and one who is in regular school. The teacher still takes the time to help him too, even thought he is not part of that program. The most difficult part of Odyssey is getting a schedule going, once my kids were on one it was awesome. They learn at their own pace and the teacher adapts to each child's learning style. We had to change teachers the first year, and he is AWESOME. Wish I could use a name but lets just say, he is like a best "mate" to our family. I have been able to learn along with my kids allowing me to see their progress every week. The teacher shows us reports and grades each week for each kid. We live in a huge growing city, with lots of educational issues. This school is one of the best. I would only recommend it to parents who are willing and able to spend lots of time with their kids during the day. If you are able...do it, and this is the school to help you.

I have had 2 of my children enrolled at this school. I think this is a much better way for our children to get their education. They start each year by test each child through the computer in each subject to determine what level your child is at. This will help you child build confidence in themselves and you'll find that they will be able to learn more. This is a public school on the internet. There is no over-crowded classes and your child learns at their pace with out any class room distraction. Enrolling my children in this school was the best decision I ever made

It's not a bad school. If it's your first time there ask alot of questions from everyone. And listen to everyone there as well. The work for your child is hard. Make sure that the teachers know about your child needs and that they understand those needs. Don't be affraid to speck up either. some of those teachers have a hard time of listening to the parents.

Odyssey provides a unique learning experience. As a student there for 5 years I have gone to places for field trips and other school activities that at a "normal" school I would have never gone to. Most of the school work can be done at home and at any time. Therefore the school provides a flexible schedule, for parents and students. The staff is very friendly.
