Unfair Punishment  4 Star Rating - Very good

I went to Cheyenne High School for three years an all the time I was there it was nothing but harassment from the administration, and some students. We were drawn guns on across the street from the campus my parents and I told the assistant principle Dr. David T Smith what was going on, an stated that we had problems with other students in an after school. The school didn't do anything about it, then a few days later it escalated to a riot during lunch, we came to explain the situation to the administration, there answer was to expell us from the school without hearing it.

weak administration- especially the principal  3 Star Rating - Satisfactory

As an educator with 12 years teaching experience in the cities of Chicago and Los Angeles, Cheyenne is the worst run school I have ever been associated with. During the school year I was one of 12 teachers that broke their contracts under pressure. The principals made it their personal vendetta to try and ruin my teaching career. I was verbally attacked, suspended on false grounds, as were other teachers. At the end of the year over half of the faculty left. The remaining half couldnt leave because of the districts 2 year contract policy. The administration is not there for the students or the teachers; they are motivated by the power of the title. With 12 teachers quitting the school had a problem of replacing them and had sub after sub trying to maintain control. Under the replacement subs, the students learned how to glue books together and to walls, throw food and drinks, drill holes in books and tables with student scissors. As you can see the learning environment left much to be desired. Education is not a top priority at Cheyenne. The district now has passed a policy that does not allow administrators to bully or demean teachers as this administration has. Maybe the 12 teachers that resigned helped this law get passed.

At open house, I was discussing the lack of textbooks with some parents. The principal walked by and overheard. I was called down to his office the next morning, he stated that discussing the lack of textbooks at an open house was inappropriate; it is none of the parents business whether there are enough books for their children.

The principal demanded that the teachers stand by their classroom doors between passing periods. We werent allowed to use the restroom or to help students. I was helping a student one day and he told my number one priority was to stand in the hall, not to help students. From then on he walked by my classroom every passing period to make sure that I was standing in the hall.

I could go on and on about how ridiculous this administration is but I think you get the picture. DO NOT ENROLL YOUR STUDENTS HERE AND DO NOT WORK HERE!

Art Teacher Fear of Life  3 Star Rating - Satisfactory

I use to work for CCSD at Cheyenne High School as an art teacher. I only worked there for three months and I was threatened by a student of mine and I did report it. He said that another student of mine in another class I taught would kill me if I gave him a failing grade because he was in a very dangerous gang. He was expelled and then transferred to another school. However, this student's friend who was in the same art class as he started to tell vicious lies about me and got his father involved in it. During the conference with the father, student (son), counselor and acting Vice Principal, the father stated that if I upset or say something to upset his son in class that his son had the right to do anything he wished to me. Furthermore, the father wanted to know why I would not allow his son to do just Urban Art via graffiti? I told him that it was against the law and that Urban Art was not a part of the CCSD guidelines in terms of teaching art in Drawing I/II. I have recently gave my written incident report to the school police by mail to Sgt. police of the school. However, I did voluntarily quit my job there at Cheyenne HS since I refused to teach graffiti skills to my drawing and Art I students. Furthermore, I did babysit when I was a teenager. However, I never realized that was considered a part of being a "Highly Qualified Teacher" with Cheyenne High School.

Furthermore, I think it's time for we citizens of this country to think about whether or not we should need to close down the public school systems or get our rakes and clean up the deep muck and very bad bureaucracy of our schools.

I would like to say that there are really talented and good kids at Cheyenne HS. I do miss them dearly and it's a shame they have to put up with those gangs or just plain bad acting and poorly supervised kids at that school. It's too bad that the administration does not seem to have a conscious and/or morals to protect the rights and safety of their teachers and students. In conclusion, they just don't care so long as no one threatens them and their lives and salaries.

Thank you for your time and attention to this letter.

didn't like  2 Star Rating - Wouldn't recommend

I think that this high school is such an awful environment for the children. i dont know what happened but it seem to have gotten way out of control over the years. i would not like for my children to go here because their is alot of mischief going on there. My neighbor's son had a bad incident the other day there at school, and they feel they have no responsibility or concerns; I would not allow my kids to attend the school. Very abusive language and graffati all over..

Oh No!  1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

Worst School ever attended in my life and I was only doing summer school at the time! Grafitti all over, food fights all the time, a lot of gangs violence and automobile vandlism. Wouldn't recomend sending kids there!
