The Freemont Street Experience is definitely not as nice-looking and safe-feeling as the newer part of Las Vegas, but I am glad that I went. I had a casino machine break and pop open on me (!), but I enjoyed the light show on the screen in the sky. Freemont Street has a very different feel that you should experience even for an hour or so to fully experience Las Vegas. Catching taxis was a little hard and shady.

After two visits to the Freemont Street Experience, I have to say 2 thumbs up. Las Vegas goes out of it's way to make it a place of first rate entertainment, cleanliness, and safety. Some of the old dives add "flavor" but the best by far is the Golden Nugget with their world class service and cuisine. If you want to meet interesting, fun, and kind people, visit Freemont Street and don't forget the Golden Gate for the historic and wonderful shrimp coctail ($1.99) and the best corned beef that ever melted in your mouth. For VERY affordable downhome cooking and excellent service you can't beat the Fitz. The View Bar balcony is a great place to see the light show and people watch.

They have a fascinating light show and lots of access to drinks all night long. Great place for tourist and for friendly fun on a Friday night. Also, this is where Chris Angel does his stunts sometimes.

Freemont Street, part of old Vegas is a neat spot to visit. The show on the ceiling is really cool. The last time we went down to Freemont Street they were filming CSI Las Vegas there so we got to watch. The shops are a little tacky, normal tourist stuff. This definetly a place you have to see when in Vegas.

This is an amazing experience! Get off the main strip and enjoy one of Vegas' other great features! Old downtown Vegas is a must-see for all. First off there is like a canopy over the entire block; which is actually a screen for a light show. The light show changes from a space scene to a jungle picture. Truly awesome. The hotels on this block are also cheaper and have 99 cent drinks. I tend to find that the souvenirs are cheaper here too. THe only problem is that you can't walk here; it's too far-so find a bus or taxi.

The light shows at the Fremont Street Experience are always fascinating. While waiting for the show to begin, you can enjoy shopping in one of the many Las Vegas souvenir gift shows or perhaps step into one of the downtown Las Vegas casinos to gamble a little or have a drink. There is also a nice live music club near the parking lot entrance to the Experience.

If this is your first time in Vegas then I would say check it out just to say you had been there and seen "old Vegas". The light show and music is pretty good and for the price (FREE!) it is quite a bargin!

The music is bumping and the lights are awesome. I took my daughter when she was like 4 months old and she LOVED it. The only thing thats bad about it is all the homeless people walking around and the people on drugs. The carts are good too..they carry lots of stuff of interest.

When people come to visit from out of town, I have to take them to the Fremont Experience. This was no exception with a date that had come out to Vegas for the first time in 5 years. We had gone to see a show and then walked over to the Fremont Street Experience. We had been talking about race cars all afternoon, and low and behold when the Experience started, it was a race car show.... We both looked at each other and laughed.. We really enjoyed the show and it made the evening extra memorable.

They have upgraded the Fremont Street Experience and now it is better that ever. Now its so clear you can watch tv on the huge 5 block screen. I think its the biggest in the world. They have a variety of shows that play every 30 minutes. This is a must see if you come to vegas. Beware, downtown vegas is a little scary.

This is located in Old Downtown Las Vegas. It has a modern look but you still get a carnival party. There are several casinos you can spend your money in, several places to eat and several shops you can shop in. There is an overhead screen that covers the broadwalk and at certain times a day a light show with music is presented. It is really quite amazing. They have free music concerts that features great artists on the broadwalk. There are things the kids can do too. I feel it is a must if you visit Vegas.

This is great place to take your out of towners. Thanks to Mayor Oscar and others it is cleaner and safer than the old days. Lots of vendor booths and carnival type hawkers trying to get your attention. Great people watching place.

Fremont Street Experience is about a block and a half long leading through the center of downtown Las Vegas. It is, as you might expect, on Fremont Street. At one time that was just an ordinary street, but quite a few years ago it was domed so that it now looks enclosed and on the ceiling, just under the dome are hundreds of thousands of lights and in the middle of the night it looks like daylight. Not only are there lights, but they are animated and there are shows every night. The street is filled with people looking up. There are several 7 or 8 minute shows per night and it really is spectacular. In addition to the light show there are many kiosks, souvenir shops and it looks very glitzy and, I think, on the cheap side. The hotels are, in my mind, no match for the more expensive and more elegant strip hotels and the people who are there seem to be much more touristy and casual. Binyon's is there, the Golden Nugget is there, the Plaza and Lady Luck Hotel is right there.

PROS: Electrifying light show
CONS: too many people -- hold on to your wallet when you are looking up.

This has got to be one of the nicest night time attractions. It is a rather recent attraction. They have turned Fremont Street into a mini-mall. They have all types of venders and markets there. They are constintly having some kind of event to draw people downtown. You can also enter all of the old favorite casino's. At night, comes their best concept yet. you are visually entertained with dancing light shows, all throughout the night.
During christmas, Santa even takes a trip down to Fremont Street. It is amazing to see what has been done to Downtown Las vegas. It is definitly a beautiful addition to our city.

I watched 2 or 3 of the light shows and it is an amazing display. It makes a very pleasant evening - watch a couple of the musical shows, take in a nice buffet, watch another show or two. Much more relaxed than the busy strip atmosphere - more 'down-home'. Stroll through a couple of the stores and pick up some trinkets for those at home. Not a must-do on every trip but a must-do at least once!

..and a great place to get affordable water. It's definitely not for those looking for that ultra-lounge experience, as on the strip. pleanty of eatiereies, coolrelics of vegas' past, and the friggin Golden nugget is there for Pete's sake. Check it out, then continue down fremont to the Beauty Bar for a stiff drink. Hopefully there'll be a cool band out back.

I do. I was little when it disappeared. Fremont Street is neat because of the crafts and performers and shops and excitement. Here you'll find the old Vegas hotels and the Neon Museum. The parking is underground and validated. This IS a big city however. There are no entrance barriers so be prepared to deal with street people, beggars, and travelers of every description.

Imagine a shopping mall type of experience with just about every vice you can think of within a 5 block area. Gambling, drinking, eating, sex...its all right there. If you want a great time for less than half of what it costs on the strip, then pick a hotel downtown and live it up. There are great places to stay like The Four Queens, The Golden Nugget, The Plaza and The Las Vegas Club. Don't forget Binion's Horseshoe either. Oh, yeah, love those shrimp cocktails at the Golden Gate and the Girls of Glitter Gulch! Fremont Street is the place to be for the best time in Vegas

I thought Fremont was really cool to visit. I actually went down there twice when I was visiting in Las Vegas. Fremont has a lot of neat little stores. I actually bough a lot of my family's souveniors down there. There were at least 3 bands that were playing, which kept the partying going. I had the best sandwich in my left down at Fremont. Oh, and there was a really cool artist down there. I sat and watched him for at least an hour. If you are every planning to visit Las Vegas, I would definetly visit Fremont. I had a blast both times.

Covering over the infamous street, seems almost a sacrilege. During the day, the "roof" is ugly and at night the "show" is annoying. The music is always too loud for an enclosed space. The cover takes away from the glitter and awesome-ness of the original neon. The cowboy seems to have to "duck" under the roof and the Glitter Gulch girl seems subdued. What a shame to ruin it.

This is the kind of thing you do once, if you see it too many times you'll get fed up quite quickly. In the evening every half hour or so the outdoor ceiling has a video/light show with background music, there are lots of shopping Kiosks in the middle of the street plus all the older, smaller casinos in a 4 block area. There is now a small mall and multi-screen theatre at one end and several souvenir stores and bars squeezed in among the casinos. Live bands play occaisonally and one night there was a Christmas show for the kids with people dressed in costumes near the big Xmas tree. This can all be fun but if you're staying in the area it can grate on the nerves after awhile. I feel sorry for anyone who's hotel room actually faces Freemont Street.

The shows are neat and different, but it is so hard for the casinos downtown to compete with those on the strip! This is one of those things that you go to once, say you saw it, and then move back up to the higher rent district. The shows are different every hour and some are better than others, but it is something that Vegas Virgins should go and see.

Freemont street is a multitude of experiances in one. The lights, the free music and entertainment, and lets not forget the casinos! My favorite in that last catagory has to be La Bayou. A small but cozy little casino, or is it a bar with slots? The drinks are to die for. $7 buys you a foot long daqueri, which you really need on thos ehot summer nights. The staff is friendly, and funny, and you have the added bonus of getting a ticket for a chance to spin the wheel and win big !! Dont leave Vegas without seeing Freemont!!

My friends and I went to stay at the Fitzgerald's Holiday with the intent of spending every day and night on the strip. But, with all of the St Patricks day hoopla (green beer, live bands etc.) we barely left Freemont street at all. Beware if you stay here however if you don't like hotel buffet's you are going to want to venture out to another area.

As tough a choice as this is the freemont street experience is probably tied as best with most of the attractions on the main strip. The only thing that may make it a bit above is the fact that the light shows are different each hour. 5 different shows w/ the same area. and easier to get a spot to see it.

If the music is not your era, wait for the next show. Never a Bad viewing position. Never someone standing in front of you causing a blocked vision. Casinos are friendly and convenient downtown. Always a party in the evening. See ALL of the show for the evening!!!!!!!

Well, I guess this is old Vegas alright. This part of town is really creepy and not worth the $15 cab fare each way (eventhough the buffet at the Nugget is quite good). Skip it.
