This review is going on every review for Durango Canyon that I can find...That's how fed up I am.
The first 2 years I lived at Durango Canyon were great and I felt as if I was getting my money's worth. However somewhere along the line, a new manager was hired and the everything started going downhill from there. My rent to begin with was $879. They raised it to $889. Ok, we looked for a different apartment, but we can stick it out here for another year right? Bad decision.
Besides the rent, nothing ever gets repaired because the apartments are so low quality that the maintenance people are constantly busy. Also, there used to be grass but they changed the landscape to this ugly landscaping that mainly consists of rocks and random patches of grass. I thought this was to save water but when I asked the manager she said "no, we still use the same amount of water". Ok, so you just wanted the place to look like crap, then, I get it.
On the last day of the lease I get a letter on my door saying water went up, and now I have to pay $910. How shady is that?! Wait until I am stuck and have no choice but to stay? I called, angrily, I admit, really angrily, but I am just so fed up with this apartment complex. I asked them if they would work with me at all, and is there anything the manager can do(including shortening my lease to a 6 month lease). The manager replied "what do you want me to do? I will ask the property manager but she will just say the same thing." These people are incredibly rude, not just the manager, but also the employees. She just blew me off. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
My mother in law used to live here and she tried to move into a 2 bedroom downstairs so that her parents could possibly live with her if they needed to. They told her they didnt have any available. So she went home and called pretending to be some random person and asked the same question and they said yes they had a few available.
My brother in law made the right choice by deciding to move out this year. I regret signing the lease again.
I have never wanted to move out of a place more than I want to move out of here, and I used to be in foster care so, think about that if you are looking at this apartment complex. I could keep going about the break ins and the bugs and the noise, but I would have to write a book
