McGee's is ok if you go to the Blue Diamond location which is really the only choice out there for tubes, tires and etc.
The staff is always cool and helpful but yes the prices are nuts. ALL the bike shops in Vegas are way over priced boutiques for posers to plunk down 4G's for a bike to hang in their garage in Summerlin. They usually ride right up until their first crash and then hang it up. :)

If you really need bikes or parts and live in Vegas hit up eBay unless you need it right then and of course you pay for that convenience.

Everything is far overpriced at this bike shop. I bought my bike on closeout from them, that was a good deal, but all the accessories and extras (clipless shoes, pedals, pump, lights, etc.) are way beyond what you will pay shopping online. I suppose they are trying to cash in on the affluent Summerlin clientele. I don't mind paying a little extra for the convenience and expertise of a LBS, but I got the impression that McGhies doesn't really care about the "little guy" (people who don't spend $5000+ for a bike they "race" ).

went there recently to update my old snowboard and found the guy (didn't get his name) that helped me to be sooooo knowledgeable about this stuff. he took time to explain different boards to me and didn't even care about the price, as a matter of fact, the board he recommended most was the least expensive! so honest and had a great selection. you got to check out the selection of burton get-ups, best i've seen! thanks cute guy that works at mcghies!

They've been around forever in Las Vegas because they know their stuff. I liked them better when they had a location on the South East part of town, but it's still worth going out to the Sahra location. They did a good job when they fixed my bike years ago. For the snow sports, they carry everything you need for the entire season and have a great staff that can answer your questions (they don't hire people that don't know what they are talking about). I am a big fan of the rental program they have for ski's and snowboards.

If you are looking for people who really know their stuff, this is the place. It's a bit pricey and can be busy during peak season, but the staff is extremely knowledgable. It's more pricey that going to the big chain sporting goods stores, but you really get "service" when you go to McGhies.
