Gold's Gym is operated by completely unscrupulous and dishonest people. I joined for a one year membership at the Flamingo location and after 8 months I had to leave Vegas for a job out of state. I tried to cancel my membership, I called the 800 number where they told me I had to go to the gym and talk to the manager (I couldn't do that since I was working during the day and the manager left around 5 or 6 PM) I tried calling the manager but he was never available. When I was finally able to get to him, he told me that unless I was in the military , I simply could not get out of the contract. (I had a YMCA membership in a different city and it was a breeze to cancel the contract there) I called Gold's customer service and they also told me that if I cancelled my credit card they would send my account to collections. I let them charge me the rest of the money $29 per month until the end of my one year contract and I then called customer service again to cancel my membership, they had after all gotten all $400 out of me for one year, what else could they possibly still want ? I figured I would sever my relationship with these crooks once and for all and that would be the end of it. To my amazement, the rep tells me that after the 12 month contract is over, I automatically go month to month and if I want to cancel my membership, I have to give a 30 day notice , fill out special forms and send them with certified mail to the gym location. At this point I got angry enough that I cancelled my credit card and told these crooks to go to hell. I don't think I have ever dealt with such scumbags in my life.

I have a good income, I didn't really mind paying the $29 /month for the months after I had already left Vegas but the principle of giving members who wish to leave such a hard time and trying to screw them out of as much money as possible was extremely aggravating. I can only imagine what it must be like for people who are on limited income and could really use the extra $39 when circumstances force them to cancel a contract or cancel the month to month rollover. Gold's Gym is ruthless , they won't give a damn , they're like the Mafia in Goodfellas, "Business bad? FY, pay me. Oh, you had a fire? FY, pay me. Place got hit by lightning, huh? FY, pay me"

I went here when i was trying to find a gym to join. Left his one hanging in the air like they left me. The staff was not approachable or even nice, they wouldn't even let me walk through the facility or use any equipment. However, I know a few friends who like the gym and refuse to go elsewhere.

I was a member of Golds Gym but have since switched to another gym. The staff were nice, but I felt uncomfortable because most of the people working out when I did, were men and very muscular. I didn't feel there was a good mixture of members, so I wouldn't reccommend this gym to women.

I joined World Gym with a one year membership. Part way through the year,I was seriously injured - requiring surgery & cast, followed by physical therapy.I notified World Gym that I would not be able to finish out my contract due to injuries & provided Dr. notes as proof. They said "no problem", we'll just put you on a medical freeze. The contract did state in one of the clauses, that the contract could be terminated due to a medical need, but I had no Idea World Gym was up to no good and had no intention of letting me out of my contract. The just did a 3 month freeze, followed by another 3 month freeze. Then they started sending me bills for the period of time we were not able to go to the gym. To make a long story short, after months and months of deceipt, being hung up on, letters and phone calls which were not returned and general rudeness, I get a collection letter, followed by a law suit - all over a few months of gym services which I never received! All be warned - World Gym is an organization based on greed and nothing else. I wonder if Arnold Swartzeneggar knows what kind of people he's associated with?
