I've lived in vegas since '73 and I can count on one hand the number of restaurants that have lasted as long as battista's. And that is why ,although my first experience there years ago was bad, I decided to give it another chance. Last night was my second and final meal at battista's. I could write a lengthy critique of EVERYTHING that they're doing wrong -- even the lemons in water were old and shriveled -- but the simple fact is the SAUCE SUCKS! And if you know and love italian food you know that it's all in the sauce. I swear that the marinara taste exactly like tomato sauce opened from a can of hunts, sans seasoning! Wtf? This is not rocket science, and a good gravy is not subjective. If you like this place you really need to experience some quality italian food, and then you too might be compelled to write a review when you taste that crap they are serving. Chef boyardee spaghettioes is honestly better, no, it really is.

This place is a hole in the wall. Just went last weekend. Service sucks and the food is way over priced! Waiter was very rude. The only thing good about the place is it had A/C.

They have decent food but it's nothing special. Their prices are really good though and you get all the free wine you can drink. Overall it's ok but nothing I can't get else where.

Battista's is a great place to eat Italian. It is very authentic and inviting. They serve complimentary red and/or white wine with your meal, and all meals include cappucino. And if you are not a coffee or espresso person, drink the capuccino anyways! It tastes like gourmet hot chocolate that you will never find anywhere else. There is a nice little old man that goes around to tables and serenades the customers with song and plays his accordian. Just a great place to go.

No, I haven't heard they were closeing, but with so much expansion of existing casinos, and demolishon of the old places, eat here before you can't!

This old school favorite hang-out is the real deal. Red checkered tables, a jug of house red wine, wandering accordian player, and rock solid, delicious, Italian cusine.

What a great menu, but silly me, I always order the lasgna... I just love it! I've had bites of just about everything on the menu, though.

Reasonably priced, easy to get in (Wednesday nights at least)... perfect place to take your out of town relatives!

We learned about Battista's from a coworker who has family members who work at the restaurant. It's one of those places that-if you didn't know it was there, you'd never know it was there. From the minute you walk in the door, you feel like you are in for a wonderful experience. You could spend days looking at the old photos and decorations on the walls (and ceiling!) The accordion player is adorable without being annoying, the food is melt-in-your-mouth delicious, and the portions are adequate without making you feel overstuffed. The servers are efficient-a bit slow when the place is busy, but that's normal with any restaurant.

PROS: Great place to impress visitors from out of town
CONS: Long wait time if you don't have a reservation

Great fun for large groups or romantic for couples. All meals come with free red or white wine, salad or soup, and a cappucinno. So needless to say it is a great value. Food is fresh and good quality. The atmosphere is great...Gordy the accordian player stops by every table and will play you ANY song you would like. There are photos everywhere of past celebrities who have dined there. Make reservations to avoid the lines.

The ambience alone is worth the visit. The restaurant goes back to the Rat Pack days, with photos on the walls of Frank Sinatra and all the celebs that have been there. The menu is written on the wall and offers a wide selection of Italian classics - pasta,as well as steak and chicken. The food and service is excellent. Included with your entree is soup or salad, and two carafes of wine (one red and one white) with free refills. Also included is a cup of homemade cappuccino after your meal. Definitely a best of Vegas!

PROS: Don't miss the accordion player who serenades you tableside.

You could eat off of the floors, this place is very well kept. The decorations are very interesting. If you have a boring moment during dinner, just look at the walls and start a new converstaion. The food was tasty. Good portions. I like the wine on the table. All you can drink. Red and white. And the cappucino at the end of the meal was very tasty.

Just off the Las Vegas strip you'll find one of the best and most fun resaurants in the entire city. Battista has excellent food and a great atmosphere. Prices are reasonable for a resort-area restaurant. Plus... all the cheap wine you can drink!!! Parking can be a problem. I suggest parking at Bally's Hotel-Casino or the Flamingo Hotel-Casino and walking to Battista's.

PROS: Great location, good food, fun atmosphere

This used to be a great place, now if you don't mind bumper to bumper traffic, the electromagnetic field from the monorail/power-lines, well then it would still be a great place. At least service is still good, food is still good as well.

We recently held a dinner for 32 people and could not have been more pleased. The appetizer trays were great and even though we had a large party set up, each person could pick from the menu. Our only disappointment was that we had no fridge in out hotel rooms to keep the leftovers. The price was reasonable and the staff very attentive. i will eat there every time I visit Vegas.

OVERPRICEDFOR WHAT YOU GET , OVERCOOKED, BAD SAUCE, NOT WORTH THE MONEY. YEARS OF GOING TO VEGAS AND OLIVE GARDEN WOULD BE BETTER, WHICH I NEVER GO TO. GREW UP ITALIAN AND THIS ISN'T! WILL NEVER EAT THERE AGAIN AS I GO TO LAS VEGAS QUITE OFTEN.

I've lived in Las Vegas for 16 years now and this has to be my favorite spot. the place is cute and comforting and the food was amazing. If your a family looking for budget meals don't go here. A lot of these reviews on here say it's over priced, It's not. If you go anywhere else you're going to pay a good amount for an appetizer and wine. this place the wine comes with the meal and so does bread, soup or salad, and a cappucinno at the end. So I think paying 30 dollars for all that isn't bad at all. the sauce was perfect, not to light not to heavy. the portion sizes were very big and the service was excellent. The waiter wasn't overbearing but asked a few times through out the meal if we were okay. for all the tourists coming to Las Vegas, stick to your Olive Garden and Bucca di beppo. If you can't appreciate good old style Las Vegas Italian food then stay away.

Went there 8-20-08, and yes it was excellent. I ordered shrimp scampi and was surprised to get a dozen good sized shrimp along with the butter sauce. My wife ordered chicken parm and again she was very happy also. I noticed that the new trendy places on the strip are virtually the same and the helpings are not all that great. Batista's has a certain charm to it that the others don't and thats the best part of it. Our waiter was very nice and was there whenever you needed something. In short Batista's is warm while the others are cold and impersonal. Thats my two cents

Yes, the food is just "good" and the service is good as well. The prices are excellent, especially considering you are right on the strip. You cannot beat the deal. All the free table wine you can drink, dessert and Cappucino. This definitely makes up for food and service. If you are looking for gourmet and don't care about price, you can certainly find suitable alternatives. If you are looking for good food, good fun and a good value....this is excellent.

This is a great deal for the money. Every meal comes with soup or salad bread sticks as much house wine as you can drink and a cappucinno afterwards. Theres not much room in the boothes but it gives the restuarant a more homey feel. The staff was great and very attentive.

After living in las vegas for 4 years and hearing so much about Batista's we decided to try it. What a mistake! The food was cafateria quality, but the service was worse. Everyone that works there is irritable and rude, from the door horror to the server. The highlights of the night were, the accordian player and the cappuccino.

Let me start by saying we walked into the place expecting to be disappointed. We are always suspect of concierge recommendations. The atmosphere is very busy and relatively old but clean which adds some nice character to the place. If you are expecting trendy and 'outside the box' Italian you will probably be disappointed. The place is an excellent deal and the food was quite tasty. While the menu is not fixed it is "old school". Every meal is served with all the house wine you can drink. In addition every table gets fresh garlic bread. Each entree is served with soup or salad and an after dinner sweet cappuccino drink with whip cream. While the salad uses iceberg lettuce despite my preference for other lettuce leafs it was excellent. The soup is minestrone and is not overwhelming. I did sample a variety of items off my companion's plates and everything tasted great. The presentation of the food is underwhelming and the portion sizes are average but delivered on small plates to look quite nice.

Now I realize why some people pan this place. This is not Olive Garden (not my fav). If you want innovative concepts in food that you have not seen before this is NOT your place. This is dad's Italian restaurant where the people are friendly and the food is zesty and delicious.

They handle large parties very well because there menu is quite simple and relatively inflexible.

We visited Batista's for dinner on a recent trip to Vegas after having it recommended by the front desk at our hotel. We did some online searching and it appeared to be a good option, so we set out. I didn't pay attention to the fact that most of the good ratings were several YEARS old. Our first "warning" was when the cab driver tried to talk us into going to another Italian restaurant.... The restaurant boasts "free" salad, garlic bread, house wine, and cappucino. Given the fact that spaghetti with pomodoro (tomato) sauce is $18.95 per person - I'd say it's NOT free. We weren't too hungry after snacking the day away - and tried to order one serving - but warning number two came when the server refused and said we'd have to order two separate meals. The food was marginal - Our marinara tasted exactly like Buca di Beppo (which is fine), but they charge about half the price! Buca's salad is great and the bread fresh and hot. The garlic bread we were served was dry and the salad limp and tasteless. Since we don't drink wine, the "free wine and cappucino" were a bust. We had a bus load of leftovers, since we were staying at a hotel and couldn't take the food with us. Not feeling great about the meal - we were left with a really bad taste in our mouths upon leaving. We asked the doorman for a taxi. He summoned the next car in line - and we ended up in a LIMO - and paid $45 for what would have been a $10 cab ride. My advice - if you want great Italian food - or reasonable prices - keep looking! This place was a rip off!

Although recommended by a local, we saw nothing special about this place. The bread had been sitting too long with the butter on it. It was edible, but not notable. The meal was okay, but the spinach was not good at all. We had to ask what it was! The salad was all right, but nothing special and you only got one bowl. The service was not exeptional either, even though they were not busy at all and there were two waiters taking care of us. I would find someplace else to eat Italian. It was priced too high too. The "all you can drink" wine is okay, I guess. We are not wine drinkers, so it was unimportant to us. The cappacino was good and a nice end to the meal.

This place is great. There is no way you can complain about the food or the prices. It is old school and comfortable. Nothing to fancy. Great if you like old Vegas, or an old Italian restaraunt back east. $26 for Veal Parm, unlimited wine, a salad, and cappucino. I live in Vegas, and anywhere else you are spending more than that on just the wine. The staff is great, it is full of history, and just a great time. I have brought relatives and out of town guests of all ages, and haven't had anything close to a complaint. Everyone loves it. Mangia

This place came as a recommendation to me through a friend as having good food, reasonably priced. I am not a picky eater, and since everywhere else you go in Vegas seems to break the bank so thought I'd give it a shot. The restaurant staff were friendly with an old mom and pop style decor, very similar to Bucca di Beppo's decor and having menu on the wall (I am wondering if Bucca stole their idea).

Doesn't matter what entree you order, it's ~$20/person, and the meal is packaged come with either salad or soup, garlic bread, the entree itself, and a cup of cappachino, and the unlimited wine. I had the lasagna, and the marinara sauce was abit too sour for my taste, and the noodle just doesn't have much flavor. The whole meal just tasteted like cafeteria food. I was quite disappointed, and from value perspective, I think one can probably get equal or better food at Olive Garden, and I am not a fan of Olive Garden.

The accordian player was about 80+ years old, and goes around each table chit chatting with all the patrons. However, for the barely audible singing and the short 30 sec performance, I didn't think he's worth the tip.

Overall, I'd not go back to this place. The ambiance/decor is ok, staff service and attitude is friendly. Just didn't think the food was worth $20/person. However, put it in perspective of a tourist area, downtown Vegas, I guess it's reasonable to charge that amount, but I'd take my $20 and go somewhere else.

My husband and I spent a week in Vegas on business. I had seen a review of Battista's Hole in the Wall on the Travel Channel so we decided to give it a try. We did not have reservations. We enjoyed a beer at the bar for about a half hour while we waited for a table. The atmosphere was very lively and fun...lots of chatter and dishes clanking. The food was magnificent...best lasagna I have ever eaten. The wine flowed freely and was equally magnificent. The accordian player was charming and sweet. The service was wonderful. The price was excellent. We had garlic bread, salad, a pasta entree, unlimited red or white wine and a cappuccino for about $20 per person. That's a tough deal to beat in Vegas! With all of it's charm, wonderful smells, and delectable Italian cuisine, Battista's gave us a enchantingly romantic evening that we will never forget!

Pros: Food, wine, ambiance, price

Cons: none

While I was initially nervous - the menu was on the wall and the place had a strange smell - the atmosphere proved to be the best part of the dining experience. Besides, who can be disappointed with a place that sets carafes of wine on your table as soon as you're seated?! While the food was not the best I've ever had and certainly not the best deal, I felt like I was eating with family - the entire room sang happy birthday to one of the patrons and we all toasted a dead guy (don't know what that was about but it was fun none-the-less). I say - try it! The experience will be bringing me back for more.

Pros: Atmosphere

Cons: Average Food

.

Terrible. I am Italian and know good Italian food. Very high price for food that tasted like it was out of a microwave package or a jar. Service was slow and inattentive, there were 8 of us for a 50th birthday party weekend and our table was basically ignored. Yes the wine is free but it tasted like swill. The atmosphere, however, is charming. Go to Pietro's near the convention center. It is the real deal.

Although a fun place to go for tourists, the food is expensive for the quality you receive. Try another Italian place; there are plenty in the valley that offer authentic cuisine and not pricey.

Cons: Poor quality of food

I have been to Battista's two times. Once there were four of us and with reservations we had to wait and there is very little place to wait. The service is horrible and they should be embarrassed to say they call this service, it's better at a buffet. The two waiters I had were old and grumpy and mean, I did notice if you were old like they were they gave you better service. The second time I was with a wedding party and these people were from a small town in Ohio and they said they had better food and service. The food is overpriced. I am not sure why people make such a big deal about this place, I really think more then not more people only go once and they realize how bad the whole experience is. The waiter handling the wedding party was not good. If you want better Italian food, I would go up the street to Olive Garden, you will be much happier.

Great location, don't have to deal with casino traffic and no wait. The WINE flows free from the time you sit down to the time you leave. The food is incredible and the service is spectacular. I make sure that everyone I know goes to Batista's when they visit Las Vegas. Don't miss it or you waisted a trip Vegas.

We went here with friends that had just renewed their wedding vows. The atmosphere was great and fun- just what we were looking for. It was easy to get in and we were quickly seated without reservations. maybe a 15 minute wait at the bar. The food great, and the fact that dinner comes with unlimited wine made it a perfect place for a celebration. The accordian player makes it a point to stop by every table asking "how are you doing tonight". It was a great experience. I would go again just for the fun, friendly atmosphere

We make a point of eating at Batista's each and every time we visit Las Vegas. Yes the food is good and the wine is plentiful, but the atmosphere makes our Vegas pilgramage a real joy. We plan our next annual Vegas trip soon after returning. We plan our shows, the outside entertainment and yes, Batista's. Take in Batista's and you will look forward to your next meal there.

my wife was recomended this place from a friend and after reading some of the negative reviews we decided to try it any way. it was a very good atmosphere and the food was good, comparing most places in vegas it was a very good alternative and when we go to vegas again we will more than likely try it again. a very fun place imo

Heard so much about this place as being such great Italian food. Well we finally made it there and it was awful. Very overpriced for Italian food, how can a plate of spaghetti cost about $20 and be bland and nasty tasting. So they give you all the red or white wine you can drink, you might need to get drunk before you realize what you have done! Was a total disappointment to myself and the group I was with. I love Italian food, I am Italian and this was what I would call fast food Italian at its WORST. Word of advice, SKIP the Hole in the Wall and look elsewhere if you want some pasta.

We have been to this place twice now, and will continue to go back. They squeezed 6 of us in at 7:30 on a Saturday night - when we called at 3:00 to make reservations. The serve huge portions and the prices are so low, you can't beat the deal. Also, the unlimited wine with dinner is great - our group of 6 drank 5 bottles, each with an entree for about $150 - the best deal in Vegas!!

I am the third generation enjoying this wonderful restaurant on each and every visit to Las Vegas. We eat there most every night we are in town. Mike Thompson offers the best service I have ever received and the food is prepared when you order it. Enjoy it while you can - everything seems to change so quickly in Vegas. We often book a trip when we start salivating for the food at Battista's. And the real treat is the hot accordian player - Gordy. Be sure to tip him well.

Everything from the horrendous decor to the menu on the wall to the rushed feeling to the annoying accordian player made this an unbelievable experience and NOT IN A GOOD WAY!!!!!!!! All this was only made worse when the absolutely non-edible food was served. The "free" wine was straight from a box and the white served warm. The garlic bread smelled like someone's armpit and the spinach make me gag. The veal and chicken were as edible as cardboard and all of this took place at a business dinner made with reservations. I would NEVER go there again and the very thought makes me run out to a good restaurant just to clense myself of hte very thought of this true hole in the wall that should have been plastered over and bulldozed 30 years ago!!!

We are off to Vegas in 2 weeks and couldn't remember the name of this restaurant we had the fortune of eating at 2 years ago. After some quick research, I found it was Batista's.

It's a nice, casual restaurant with the feel of going back in time.

As I remember, it was more your red sauce Italian, not the Northern Italian many are now used to.

To get a complete meal (from soup to spumoni) at this price is amazing! Enough variety for all.

If you want a fancy, smancy restaurant, then this is not the place. If you want to walk away full and satisfied, then you've found a winner!

We ate here on March 28th, 2006, Wednesday night, i made resrvations for 7PM, not thinkin we need'em. It was quiet when we entered, we sat quickly, had the complimentary garlic bread, salad, wine and of course for the entree, we had the spaghetti and meatballs followed by a very tasty cappucino, it taste like hot cocoa. As we dined we enjoyed the old gentleman playing the accordion, make sure you have a few bucks to give him. As we are from NYC, he played NYNY for us, nice touch. The service was very attentive and quick, the food was fantastic and after all said and done the check came to $40.01 with tax, how can you beat that? As we exited the lobby was jam packed, we were glad we made the reservations, VIVA Battista's!

Battista's was terrible! It was overpriced and the food was awful tasting for me and my party of 8 who are mostly Italians from NYC. Maybe if you're from the mid-west it's OK. I'm saying this since those are the folks who's recommedations we got on this place.

Battista's Hole in the Wall is a restaurant that I visit every time I'm in Vegas! The food is wonderful, the portions large and each dinner is served with a fresh salad, fantastic garlic bread , all the wine you can drink (red or white), and cappucinno. The wine is their house, served in large carafes and is very good. The atmosphere is dark and comfortable with the menu printed on the walls. The pasta, steaks and chicken are all good! Try your luck on the slot machines while waiting for a table in the bar. I've 'won' dinner a few times. Definitely go and be your own judge. Don't let the negative reviews sway you-the place is always packed!

I consider Battistas my favorite restaurant in Las Vegas and was appalled by some of the less than complimentary remarks. First of all the service is out of this world! The friendly staff is always close at hand to make sure your every need is met during your dining experience. The food is excellent. As a world traveler I have eaten at Italian restaurants across the globe and I have never found its equal. The Chicken Rio is excellent. I have never in all my years as a patronage of this restaurant ever been disappointed.

Batista's has been a family tradition for over 20 years for us. It has always had a great ambience and I look forward to returning to Vegas just to go to Batista's and having a little vino with my friends and family. Whenever you ask anyone in Texas where to go for a good meal while visiting Vegas, Batista's is always on the top of the list. I must experience. If you consider the cost of a buffet in Vegas, Batista's is a good bargain!!!

Food is overpriced and mediocre, service is poor. You are charged for sitting at the table even if you don't order anything. Went there with out-of-town visitors, will never go back. If black-and-white photos of celebrities who ate there 30 years ago is your idea of atmosphere, you will like Battista's. Otherwise, go elsewhere. Whatever built their reputation is long gone. Few locals go there, which should tell you something.

They should be at home eating there TV dinners. Other than that this is a wonderful place and I highly recomend it!
