Son got stranded on travel across country and was towed to Findlay Honda w/ serious fuel contamination. Right from the beginning the service advisor- Travis Miller was on it-kept my son & I (via long distance!) informed. There were many, many phone calls back & forth, much stress involved as the news got worse. The service dept. worked hard to flush out the system and hopefully get the car back on the road. Unfortunately the contamination destroyed the engine. Everyone my son & dealt with was so helpful- he was shuttled back and forth from lodging to dealership many times over the two days. In an age when people complain about dealers that are ripoffs or have bad service, it's encouraging to know there are top notch ones out there. Thank you Findlay Honda for making this very unhappy experience at least somewhat easier to accept.

Worst car buying experience ever!! My daughter was buying the car, not myself, however I was there to help her as I have purchased MANY cars in the past. The salesman, Mike, was very nice but obviously a salesman to the core. The rest of the staff, terrible!! My daughter found a car that she liked and we believed we had made a deal after 4 hrs and some shady dealing, we took the car home with their blessings. Ten days later the real trouble begins with phone calls from them saying that they don't have a deal and that she now needs a co-signer or down payment. Long story short, we were back in there battleing it out again, this time we armed ourselves with a lot more info. Until we were getting ready to leave without the car, they decided to give us the price on the car that we should have rec'd to begin with and we cut another deal on the car. After that, everyone became very rude and short with us. Absolutely the worst experience ever, will never go back!

Brought our Honda Pilot in for front break work and a set of new Michelin tires. They sold us four Michelin Cross Terrain tires but installed four Good Year Integrity tires--tires that are half the price of Michelins. We called the service manager and he acknowledged that the wrong tires were put on our pilot--but said he would have to check into it and get back to us We brought back the Pilot and they switched out our tires. On the way home the Pilot was pulling to the left. We took the Pilot to another Honda dealer and we were told that one of the tires tread was pulling apart and was defective. At that point, we looked at the tire Dot information only to discover that the Michelin tires that Honda Henderson installed on our Pilot were over four years old. The new Michelin tires from Honda were even older than the Michelin tires on our truck that we were replacing! Besides, the tire problems--we also had an oil leak after they changed our oil. According, to the other Honda dealer the oil had leaked all over the pan because the oil pan nut was not tighten sufficiently. At present, we are still working on getting our tire issue resolved with Honda Henderson.

My son owns a 2009 Civic LX with 20,000 miles purchased new in April 09 from Shack Findlay Honda. At the purchase I had to ask for the advertised low rate financing, which they finally gave me after first denying that it applied to the Civic model.

We have had it serviced regularly there, along with our 2004 Pilot we also purchased new from S/F Honda. On our last service on the Civic we were told it needed front brakes, that only 20% was left. This stunned me and when I asked for more info I was told that there was a "factory program" for Civic brake problems that would help pay for it. I didn't have time that day so I came back a week later, only to be looked at like I was from Mars.

A very long story made short, I left very mad and checked my brake pads myself. They looked good to me. They looked good to Midas as well when I had them look at them. They even looked good to the Service Manager at S/F Honda when I took the car in again to ask them what the hell was going on. As I see it, they have two explanations: 1. Their mechanics are incompetent and can't tell good brakes from bad, OR 2. They have dishonest help or practices that try to make customers pay for unnecessary repairs. The Service Manager chose option #1. So, they are stupid instead of dishonest.

Don't believe anything a car mechanic tells you without checking it out yourself.

I purchased my Accord in 2004 and got an awesome deal and great customer service. Part of the deal was for them to include a Haynes type manual (approx value $20) so I could do minor repairs. This was put on the due bill. However, the due Bill must be redeemed within 30 days and I did not take it in. Several months later, they mailed me the professional technicians handbook valued at over $400. They did not have to as the due bill expired, but they did. As a side note, I take my car in for maintenance services and never pay full price. The manager always discounts it. Also, they call to follow up how the service went and send surveys and coupons. They are concerned with their customer satisfaction and I will be a Honda owner by them for as long as I live.

Pros: Customer Svc, Svc Dept, Honest, of course great product

Cons: none

Bad sales experience. The salesman was nice enough but once you sat down it was almost as if they felt the need to live up to the stereotypical conning by the car dealership. The Finance guy told me that I owed more money on my current vehicle than I did to which I was easily able to rebuke using my laptop and showing them what was owed on my account online. He later retracted and said that in fact his numbers were lower than what my account said online. Hmmm. So we continued and then he came up with number based on my credit score which wasn't so good. I walked away from the deal they were offering and bought with another dealership come to find out that my credit score was good when I checked it, they lied to me about that too in order to jack up my interest rate, and they were going to seriously lowball me on my trade. What a horrible experience and waste of a few hours. Never again.

I dealt solely with the Internet sales manager. He is very nice and the sale went according to plan with one exception, the payments were about $40 more than I anticipated. After I inquired about this (after a 15 minute wait) I was told that they "accidentally" set my first payment date to 24 months in the future. This may be true, I'm just saying it seemed a little suspect.
The F&I guy was very quick and low pressure.
That is the end of my good experience.
I have had numerous problems with their service department. I have had my oil fill cap left off which caused the car to blow oil all over the engine compartment. I have watched the techs sit around talking for 30 minutes while I waited on my car, only returning to work after I inquired on how much longer it would be. I have been told at 1 oil change that I only had 30% left on my front brake pads and they should be replaced before my next oil change. At the next oil change they said I have 70% remaining. It was still the same pads. I have had parts replaced that were not approved by me first. I had a seat rail damaged when I was having the seat bushing problem (recall?) repaired and I couldn't adjust my seat forward/back anymore. The part was only ordered after I complained.

PROS: Good Sales experience
CONS: Service Dept needs some work

We took my 1998 HOnda Accord here when it wouldn't start. The charge ended up being way more than my husband had thought it should be, and the lack of communication ability was really bad.

PROS: Local

I dealt with this company through the internet as I had completely had it with going into car dealers and the sales personal. The internet sales manager gave me a good price to start with, treated me with respect when I got down to the dealership and got me right through the whole buying process in less then an hour. How's that for surprising when you buy a car? They also have a dmv computer and you can register there. No line.

PROS: internet sales, dmv computer

Well I am on my 2nd Shack Findlay Honda car and to be honest am really debating whether to buy another car from them again.I had my heart set on a Honda Civic, so went to Shack Findlay who did a stock location (online too for customers) and found me a couple of cars which I liked the look of, I deliberated and then went for one, which they brought in and was great, I bought the car and this is when it all went wrong. The car itself is fine, however there were broken speaker covers, ashtrays, parcel shelves... they were fixed after 3 times in the garage. However one thing I am still waiting on is the service history that it was sold as having, however was not in the paperwork. I have had the car for 8 months now and have managed to get myself a blank service booklet from them and that is it... I am constantly promised printouts of the history and have even spoken to the manager and am no further forward. Very, very dodgy after sales service, once they have your cash they couldn't give a damn!

I have shopped for 4 cars in the last 6 years, and this dealership surprised me with its honesty. At first it seemed like they were unwilling to lower their prices, and it is slightly steeper than the other places. But they do not add on anything you do not want/need to your vehicle. No bogus desert protection or collision package. Even the financial manager does not try to sell me bogus plans, which is very refreshing considering this is the first time I have had an encounter with an honest dealership. You may not get the lowest price here, but you don't have to worry about being tricked into buying something you don't want, or paying fees that are in fine prints.
