Dr. Anast, is the best vet we've had by far. We have been so please with the way he cares for our dogs, and never charges us for things we don't really need. For example, there was an issue where he let us know that we could purchase a prescription, or go to the store and by something that would do the same thing OTC for MUCH less. At the same time he takes the time to carefully check out our dogs, and always offers tips for solving little issues they are having. BEST VET IN TOWN!!!

For the people who complain of the cost at Sandy Hill, have you been to another vet recently? Sandy Hill truly cares about the animals at their clinic. We have had two of our dogs in there for a few days and both times they made sure the costs were fair and reasonable for the services they provided. George helped my paralyzed cockapoo walk again without surgery when the specialist said nothing else would help. And yes there will be times when they have to say they cannot treat your animal if you owe them money, they are a business and have their own bills to pay, but I truly believe that if you have been making an effort to pay they will help. At one point they treated your animal when you didn't pay or you wouldn't have a balance, right? We have six animals and three of them are seniors so we have spent alot of time there, I have never seen Dr Anast angry or nasty I am sorry some people have had those experiences but it makes me wonder why? What happened to cause it....I can't imagine him being like that just because. He is honest about the health of your pet and won't encourage you to do things just to make money, he cares about the pets he treats and takes care of.

I think Georgie is the BEST Vet in all of Las Vegas, my dad and uncle have known him for 20+ years and he has always cared for our pets with the kindness only a great vet can! Along with his staff they are very caring and great at what they do. 5 Stars

Dr. Anast and staff have been caring for our pets for over 15 years, and their compassion and kindness has always been over and beyond. When we lost our beloved Duke, Dr. Anast made sure we had privacy and was able to say goodbye to him. He allowed us to be there when our big guy took his last breaths, and we will be forever grateful to the Dr. and the staff there. We continue to take our animals there, and have sent several friends and family members to Sandy Hill.
St. Frances is definitely watching over this animal clinic, and it shows in their care for our furry family members!!

My cat Smokey just died this morning at 5am. The experience of losing your family pet that you love and cherish so much is heartbreaking. He had a scheduled appointment to see Dr. Stevens this morning at 10:30am. His distended stomach had not gone down so she prescribed diuretics to see if that would help. It just basically cleared up the cough he had. She took blood, urine, did a cat scan, xray, and injected him twice with a pain killer and sedative to relax him while being examed. I can't help wondering why no diagnosis resulted after all that. She had related to me that all tests had come out normal, except the cat scan which showed fluid on Smokey's stomach and in the throat which evidentally caused the cough. She was thinking it could be cancer or heart trouble. He was suppose to go back in a couple of weeks for a follow up which I was late in getting back to. I made the appointment Tuesday for him this Sat., and he died Sat. morning. It's a heartbreaking thing to see your pet die, I never want to go through it again. But all in all I think Sandy Hill is a fine vet, Dr. Anasti has taken care of my mother's cat Owley for at least 5 years now and gets her right back on her feet.

How loving and kind the staff was in receiving Smokey and letting me know he was going to be fine, that they would take care of him. Dr. Stevens came out in front to get a file and never said a word to me. Nothing like, "I remember Smokey", or I'm so sorry". She avoided me completely, but yet it could have been she just didn't see me. I sincerely thank the staff for being the staff they have always been. You feel the warmth as soon as you walk in the office. We will miss our little boy, but we know he is in a better place and happy to be with his other friends he spent so much time with down here on earth. Smokey was the baby when they were all grown and they took good care of him.

I adopted a sheltie that began having seizures about 6 months after bringing her home. Normally a very sweet girl, she also started growling and biting when touched. Her eyes would glaze over and then she would snap out of it and act guilty and whimper. I took her to 3 different clinics and every vet blamed it on behavioral issues. I finally went to Sandy Hill after a very bad episode and Dr. Anast diagnosed her based upon the description - pancreatic lymphoma. A blood test confirmed it and some steroids brought her back to normal. None of the other vets even really listened, just blamed her "unknown background." Annabelle's last days were happy and seizure/biting free thanks to Dr. Anast. He and the staff now care for all of our other "children" and we couldn't be more pleased. Our only regret was not finding them sooner.

Your complaints of greed, lack of compassion, unconcern for pets and their owners is BUNK. Aside from taking care of my pets for decades, I took a lost cocker spaniel there one day, in concern for her health while we put up fliers for this lost pooch. Not only did Dr. Anast give the dog a complete physical, and describe each and every ailment this dog had; he indicated the dog didn't have much time for all that was wrong, including cancer. The dog was very old an near the end of her years. He gave her some meds, notice I said "gave" and advised me that if I didn't find the owner withing several days, that I should take her to a shelter. This poor pooch would have been in for a very rough future of surgeries, etc. if we were to keep her and her quality of life was fading rapidly. I asked for the charges, and he said "$0.00" and wished me luck. I then took her across the way to the groomer and told them the story as I left her there, only to come back and seeing this lovely groomed dog that now smelled heavenly and once again, they wished me well, gave me a bag of treats for the dog and a bill of "$0.00". So please, please don't tell me about the compassion at the Sandy Hill Animal Clinic or the groomers across the way. Those of you with problems with the Dr. need only to look in the mirror and you will see the problem. Your problem. Think of either 'how much you owed him and not made the effort to pay' or the attitude YOU projected to the Dr. and then ask yourself about YOUR compassion for the work and hours these Vet's and their staff's put in all day and all week. How about giving them a break and some compassion for the people and animals they have to deal with day to day and you're bringing in the dog you love. They have to deal with both lovable and angry animals. Where's you soft heart for the job they do? Or is it, gimme, gimme, gimme, like the world owes you something? Take a look in the mirror please!!!

I have used Dr. Anast for over a decade. Recently I had BOTH dogs at the vet for different problems. I have never been more thrilled with the outcome of both! Dr. Anast is amazing! He kept the bill down, CARES for the pets and the review that was not the greatest.. .Maybe you are just a B***H. That place has had every pet for 15 years! If you think they are unreasonable.. Think again... Some people just arent a fit with others. Rather than bash an amazing Vet, maybe, take your business to someone else. I think Sandy Hill Animal Clinic gets 5 stars! They are the best in the business! I would not trust my cherished pets to ANYONE else!

Hi, I just read the comment from P.S.....I'm not affiliated with this clinic whatsoever....but I HAVE worked in this field for over five years....GREEDY? lol. Compared to some of the bills I've seen for similar treatments....95 TOTAL is a bargain...funny how first PS states the bill was 95, and then states it was the cost of meds alone....if you go on petmeds.com and put in 250 mg twice a day for ten days, yes the total comes to 8.00, HOWEVER this individual did not mention the size of the dog, the dosage, or the amount given....how many vets give free meds? How many of us can say we walk out of a vet clinic paying less than 100? Ear problems mean a vet check, a swab, etc.....it's not JUST 3 minutes.....sorry, I know I sound as if I'm on a rampage....but if you work in this field....then you know better....trust me....95 IS NOT GREED.

Dr. Anist at SandyHill has a 100% heart of gold. He has the most amazing care of not only did he provide superior service to 8 animals he also took care of our family by sharing compassion when in need during the past decade. The staff at the clinic has always been the friendliest in town and I have with great pleasure referred friends there that have also had a most wonderful experience. Dr. Anist has a heart for the community and provides the Blind with services for their animals that they could not afford elsewhere! Dr. Anist you are the most Awesome Vet in the world and my two newest babies that have adopted me can't wait to meet you and your amazing staff. ~ Many Smiles and Cheers for SandyHill Animal Clinic ~

Dr. Anast is a class act. He truly cares about the animals he treats and does not take advantage of pet owners emotions, when tough decisions need to be made.

Thank you Sir..

Went to see Dr. Anast today about ear mites...Dr. Anast diagnosed my dogs condition as a yeast infection in her ear, and not mites...which was fine. After a 3 minute examination, he prescribed a medicine called "Gentizol", which was also fine...then I went to pay my bill...it was $95. After leaving, I arrived home and researched the cost of a 15mg tube of Gentizol...$12.95. A 3 minute visit, and the medication for $95 is ridiculous. Dr. Anast is a nice enough person, always shakes my hand and treats my dog with respect...but to charge me that much was, in my humble opinion, definitely being a little too greedy.

When I first brought my dog to him for kennel cough, after I rescued her from Lied, he "donated" a 20 pill bottle of Cephalexin, which I thought was really cool of him...now I know why. After researching the price of that med...I've discovered how cheap it is to purchase...he gave me $10.00 worth. I feel like he performed that nice gesture, to keep buttered up, so I would have a hard time criticizing him for charging me too much for future visits.

Needless to say, I was, without question, not a happy person when I left there today. Not that I was really mad or anything...just not happy. I can't waste my energy or time being upset about what has been done...just learn from it.

In conclusion, Dr. Anast is a nice enough person, and from my experience will treat your animal respectful...but believe me...you're going to pay for it. I'm beginning to think the whole world is just one gigantic, greedy place...is anyone, or anything fair anymore...seriously.

Good luck to all of you :)

Dr. Anast currently see's 3 of my close friend's dog's, I have went on several occassions w/ all 3 of my friends and was absolutely impressed with Dr. Anast's professionalism. He also was kind enough to take the time to show me in detail how exactly to depress a dog's anal gland at home, and I did not even have a pet as a patient!! Since then I left Mt. Vista animal hospital and my 3 dog's are now proud patients of Sandy hill animal clinic. Unfortunately Dr. Anast was no longer taking new patients I was greatly dissapointed but still signed up anyway, because if Dr. Anast trust the other Doctor's in his office there is no reason I too should not trust them.

Sandy Hill Animal Clinic hates Rotties, after letting staff know that our dog was not socialized much and would like to get him in and out quickly, they put us in a room for about 15 minutes, waiting while their birds were screaming and other dogs were barking, so of course when the door opens ( without a knock or other notification ) an 18 month old Rottie is going to see who's coming in after waiting in a strange place for that long. But in Dr. Anasts eyes he was being aggressive and going to attack! Oh, but he had a muzzle on along with a harness collar and leash, and didn't even bark, just got up to see who it was! The Doctor also thought my wife was laughing at him when he opened the door but that was not the case we were talking when he opened the door she was in the middle of a laugh!!! But he would have none of that. I guess that is why they didn't take payment prior to the shots, because he probably never intended to give the shots to him anyway. Why make the appointment if you don't like the dogs to begin with? We probably wouldn't have come back anyway if it wasn't for the other Dr. who gave him his check up and shots when he was young! You sure had no problem putting our other Rottie down when he had cancer, you probably enjoyed that, right! Our dog is a family, house dog who is great with young kids and anyone else he's ever been around. And if he's so mean and aggressive why was I able to walk through your Office with no muzzle, between two big dogs without any issues, one being an Akita. I truly believe you were wrong in your actions. But we're probably much better off not coming to you, thinking back when you did put our other dog down you were pretty sloppy with making him " Ruger " bleed pretty bad when giving the death shot, nor did you explain what could happen much at all and were apologizing that this "doesn't usually happen". So, Thanks For Nothing and We'll spread the word the best we can.

I met Dr George when I was 8 yo when he finished school, we lived two blocks from him, He would come over and vaccinate our puppy because at the time we didnt have the money to do so out of the kindness of his heart, now 30 years later I still take my pets to him.
my son who was 13 had to put his dog to sleep, my son was hysterically crying and I could see Dr G's pain as well as tears, he had to leave the room, so much compassion and love in this man's heart, between him, his wife and the staff at sandy hill, I will never have anyone take care of my pets, even if he makes me take a abandoned kitten home for the 4th time lol

My best friend Buddy has been blind and a diabetic for the last few years. He has needed special food, two insulin injections a day and numerous trips to see Dr.s George & Jonas. He was not in pain, gets around fine and is tended to by his "brother" Tuffy who licks his eyes clean daily. He was happy and had a high quality of life so euthanizing was out of the question. The entire staff there grew to love Buddy almost as much as I and he was treated as one of their own. We would laugh and tell stories as Buddy continually recovered from seemingly life ending medical problems .Buddy's heart stopped a few weeks ago.I haven't laughed much lately.I miss him.Thank you all at Sandyhill for extending his life.Steve Sadowski

Dr. Anast has been my vet since I got my first dog at 7. I've taken every animal I've ever had to him. Today I took my basset hound to his office. It turns out there was nothing serious wrong with him. The newest doctor, Dr. Espinoza, worked with Boomer today. She was very good to him and helpful to me. They went above and beyond what was necessary to make sure Boomer recovers fast and make sure there won't be any other surprise problems down the road. Anyone who has anything bad to say about this clinic is full of it.

I've brought my dogs to Sandy Hill since 1994. We usually see r. Anast and he's very kind and compassionate. Also Dr. Jonas fills in sometimes, and they always have a third vet around who is newer. I've always been satisfied with the care given and the price charged. Some services are even free for "regulars". Any complaints on these review pages must be from cranks. Every business has a few.

Dr. Anast is the best Veterinarian around. My husband and I have been taking our "kids" to him for 12 years now, and my in-laws have taken their "kids" to him since 1971. He is the most compassionate veterinarian I have ever met. When our Lab-Collie mix (Molly) was very sick, he took her home with him so he could care for her overnight. He has even come in as early as 6:00 a.m. to accommodate our needs. He is trustworthy and honest. His professionalism and compassion for his work go over and above anything that I have experienced.

Dr Anast and his entire staff, have been my families vet care provider for 25 years. We could not ever find a more competant and caring Dr to take care of our animals. I even bring my grandmothers pets in from Pahrump to have Dr Anast care for them. Thank you Sandy Hill staff, we love you.

My dogs were patients of Sandy Hill and other day in a panic I called the office knowing my sweet little doggie was in heart failure and I needed to help her as she was not able to breathe , she was suffering . I had a balance with the office and after the nice receptionist listened to me cry I begged her if there was any way I could bring her in she said she would asked the DR he said NO without offering any other refferals to any other agencys that might be able to help . I can't believe the there was no compasssion expressed at all except from the receptionist . My best friend died in my arms yesterday peacefully with the love and compassion shared by Waggin Wheels Vet Blanche Pierce in our own home on her favorite couch ! Now that is a vet with compassion !!!! Thank you Dr Pierce of Waggin Wheels Vet Srvs !

I can't say enough good things about Dr. George Anast and his staff at Sandy Hill. I have been taking my pets (2 dogs/2 cats) to him for over 10 years and continue to be amazed by his knowledge, compassion and kindness. My pets have had numerous issues--genetic bone problems, kidney disease, Valley Fever, etc. and Dr. Anast has been there for us through the worst. He and his staff make every accommodation for their patients and it is more than obvious how much they care.

On another note, if you are concerned with costs, you can rest assured you won't be charged outrageously here. The fees are extremely reasonable and low when compared to other veterinary offices in town.

I could go on and on with all the good things to say about this office, but basically, if you are looking for a vet who cares about his patients and their owners, look no further.

Dr. Anast and the staff @ Sandy Hill are fantastic! They've treated more than 7 of my pets (adopted and fostered) and have always given me the best attention, the best service, and the best outcome. I can't say enough about Dr. Anast. He really is terrific!

Dr. George Anast has been my family's vet for more than 25 years. I have never met a more educated, sincere and honest veterinarian during that time than George. He has been a consistent source of medical and emotional support for me and my family, and I cannot imagine a world with animals that does not include him. He is compassionate, considerate, and truly caring person, and thoroughly professional. Request this man, he is the best veterinarian in Las Vegas.

We have been going to Dr. Anast for over 12 yrs. & he is the best Vet we have ever had. I am someone who can spot a phony a mile away & this guy is the real deal...he really cares. There is no way we would have gotten over the death of 2 of our dogs (from old age) without him. He is the best vet in vegas!

Dr. George Anast is a knowledgeable and caring vet. His rates are reasonable and he is cautious with treatment. We have four pets, two dogs and two cats. My husband and I are so grateful we have this wonderful doctor and the staff of the Sandy Hill Animal Clinic to help us care for these innocent critters.

Dr. Anast has been our vet for over 15 years. He is kind, compassionate and it's very obvious that he cares about animals. We recently lost our dogs within a month of each other and Dr. Anast allowed us the grieving time and handled our pets with amazing care. His staff is always friendly and available to answer your questions. I would recommend this clinic to anyone that loves their pets.

I recently moved out here from California and I was unable to see my regular vet. I was worried that I wouldn't find a vet that would be as good and caring as the one back home. I looked online for local vets and I noticed this place had received good reviews (however it doesn't look like it has been receiving great reviews recently, but I don't understand why not). I decided to go with Sandy Hill Clinic and Dr. Jonas treated my dog. He made us both feel comfortable and was happy to answer all my questions.
My second visit to the clinic was today. I called this afternoon because I noticed my dogs inner ear was bleeding. On such short notice, they said I could come in today. This time we were treated by Dr. Anast. He was very professional and handled my dog with great care. He may not be my regular vet but for the time that I am living here in Vegas, I will definitely continue to go to Sandy Hill Clinic. I would recommend this place to other devoted pet owners.

We have been taking our two cats to Dr Anast since the beginning of 2004 and we have always been happy with his work. We now have two siberian huskies. One is just over 1 year old and the other is just over 5 months old. They have been going to Dr Anast since they were each 8 weeks old. My wife called me today in tears! Today 02/01/08 my wife brought the dogs to see him because the 1 year old had begun coughing yesterday. When he was going to get down on the ground to check on the 1 year old she "woofed". A single half-hearted bark. My wife assured him that she just thought he wanted to play. That was it. He got angry and told my wife that our dog was going to bite someone and it wasn't going to be him. He told her to leave and to find another vet. My wife was so upset. We can't believe this happened. I talked to her again about 30 minutes ago. She had called Sandy Hill Animal Clinic to ask for the record for all four of our animal (two cats and two dogs). She sat on hold for 15 minutes then was disconnected. I have called and said I will be by to pick up the records. I will see how that goes.

Everyone in my family as well as myself has been taking are dogs to his office for 8 years. He was the best vet in town but something has changed maybe to many patients. My mother went in to his office on 1/22/08 with her dogs & my sisters they wanted to hold the dog when he got the shots as we have done many times in the past. He then started yelling "We are done here I'm not going to let people come in here & tell me how to run my practice! We are all done here & you are all leaving!" All he had to do was be professional & say I would rather my nurse hold him so you do not get bite yourself. But that is not at all what he said. Then as they were leaving & trying to get the dogs records because they were obviously not going to take them there again. They did not sign off that any of the dogs even got there shots. My mom said news 13 would love to hear about this he started to yell from the hallway at them that if I hear one more word out of you I will call the cops! Then when they called to get him to sign off that they had there shots they were hung up on by the nurse! So he is not at all professional & I do not recommend him to anyone!!! Even if he was the best vet in town he is not anymore!!!

I had been taking my cats to another vet in Henderson and became increasingly dissatisfied with him. A friend recommended Dr. Anast when I was unable to get a reasonable diagnosis from my first vet.
He is kind, gentle, professional, and very knowledgeable. He always reserves time for last minute or emergency appointments. You are never left waiting an eternity to see him because he is very prompt and thorough with his patients.
It is obvious he loves animals and cares deeply for what he does. I would recommend him to anyone with pets.

I cannot believe a licensed, experienced, professional veterinarian mis-diagnosed something so elementary as tape worm. I rescued a wild cat and was referred to Sandy Hill by a friend. I was very relieved that the staff was so eager to help. He got his frist set of vaccinations, a shave, a bath, a check-up, and nails clipped. None of the staff noticed or mentioned how emaciated he was, or his giant stomach, so I didn't give it much thought. Until he started throwing up worms. I took him back, and the Doctor stated "he has tested negative for fecal parasites, so his distended belly isn't something to be concerned about at this time, he's probably just fat, and what you saw in his stool was probably something he just ate and pased". The next day, I wiped one of the worms and took it to another vet, who then gave me some medication. But it was not enough, and it was too late. That poor little kitty suffered in agony with a ruptured intestine, and then died of internal bleeding. I hope no other patiends that go to this vet have an experience anything like this.

When my current vet left Las Vegas I was at a loss. A friend of mine referred me to Dr. Anast and glad he did. Our long hair Chihuahua was in failing health and towards the end she was blacking out. She had an episode on a Saturday. I called the office to find them closed, however Dr. Anast answered from home. He said to meet him up at the office. He wanted me to leave her overnight and assured me he would take her home to care for her. Not many vets will do this. About a month later, she was called to doggy heaven and I called Dr. Anast to let him know. He offered to send someone to pick her up, but I said I will do it as I need it for closure. He knew as a gay male that this was my "child" my baby that I lost. It was devastating on myself and my partner to have to wrap her in a towel and bring her in. Dr. Anast told me to call when I leave the house and a staff member will meet me in the back. I did and I pulled up and Dr. Anast stepped away from his appointments long enough to accept our precious little Penny himself rather than a staff member. He worked with us on the cremation expenses and made it so much easier. I will highly rate Dr. Anast as long as he is in practice. He obviously loves animals and it shows.

PROS: Compassionate, careing, considerate
CONS: NONE!!!!!

When my vet couldn't see us the same day for our cats eye we were froced to look somewhere else. This is who we found we were told that if we brought Clovis in withing 20 minutes he could see him now. When we got there he was great it turned out that Clovis had an eye infection and just needed drops. They were great with my cat even showed us how to put the drops in without haveing the cat know that it was commint. This saved us a bit of drops missing the eye due to the cat trying to get away. Getting to the vet that day may have prevented our other cat from catching the infection therefor saving us the same vet bill twice. After this experience we will take our cats to this vet from now on.

Upon entering this office you know it is all about the animals they care for. Wall murals, friendly staff, doctors and treats, as well. Upon leaving you do not feel robbed. Many things you pay for elsewhere are done free in this clinic but don't take my word for it. Go see for yourself and you won't ever change. I promise!

I highly recommend Sandyhill to everyone who wants the best care for their pets. I have known Dr.Anast for 28 years and he had been not only a great vet but a good friend through all my animals good times and bad times. I have known Dr. Jonas only a short time but he worked very hard (along with Dr. Anast and Dr. Fields) to try and heal my precious dog Ditka from Valley Fever. I thank everyone at Sandyhill for their help and support during the good times and the sad times. Wonderful people - give them a try you won't be sorry.

Your complaints of greed, lack of compassion and unconcern is BUNK. I took a lost cocker spaniel to him, in concern for her health. She got a complete physical; she didn't have much and had cancer. He gave her meds, notice I said ""gave"" and advised me to bring her to a shelter. She's have a rough future of surgeries, etc. if we kept her. Her quality of life was fading rapidly. I asked for the bill, ""no charge"". \n\nI took her across the way to a groomer; told them the story, once again ""no charge"". They wished me well, gave me a bag of treats for her. So please, please don't tell me about the compassion at the Sandy Hill Animal Clinic etc. \n\nThose of you having a problem with this ... well, it's YOUR problem. Think of 'how much you owed him and not made the effort to pay' or the attitude YOU projected. Then ask yourself about YOUR compassion for the work and hours these Dr. Anast and his staff deal with all day and all week. Giving them a break and some compassion for the people and animals they have to deal with. They have to deal with both lovable and angry animals/people. Where's your soft heart for them? Take a good look in the mirror please!!!\n

This Dr. Anast is a piece of Sh** in my eyes. This guy took my dog into his office and had an unusually high estimate. After talking it over with the receptionist she went over the estimate and said this isn't correct let me talk with George. George then came up to the front and started yelling that his service are non negotiable and that he wouldn't fix my little friend. Dr. Anast is a disgrace to professional vets. This guy needs his butt kicked.
