Amazing food, awesome people, incredible quality. Being from the Bronx, New York my husband and I saw this place, did our usual eye-roll and said "yea ok, we'll see". The best thing in the world to be wrong about, Big Apple Pizza was seriously just like home from the food to the owners. No BS, tell it like it is food and people...ahhhhhh, perfection in a store!

If you've never been to NY and you can't tell the difference anyway, you won't be disappointed by any means. The food pops with flavor, the ambiance is comfortable and warm and the people are hilariously, no-holds-barred real. We have since left Nevada and are in the land of fruits and nuts in California but we stop in to the Big Apple Pizza shop every single time we are in the Reno area.

Today was my first day of experiencing what a true slice of pizza tastes like. Not only was the food delicious, but the people working there are so fun and kind. Even though I had never been there before, I felt like I had been a valued customer for years. It is so welcoming. I even got to learn how to make homemade cheese. The best I have ever tasted. They have made a customer for life out of me :)

This is the best slice of pizza, calzone, hoagie rolls...ANYTHING YOU ORDER! You won't find a better place this side of New York that serves their food completely handmade in house, with a sense of humor only found in the East Coast, and for cheap!

I got two slices of pizza today: one pepperoni and one cheese. After I ate it, the owner invited me to the back to see them make their own mozzarella directly from the curd. I highly recommend anyone and everyone to get out in Sparks on Baring Blvd and order from Big Apple Pizza. Sit down, take a load off, talk with the owners and see why this is the best pizza shop in the West!

The food is absolutely delicious!! We ordered a pepperoni pizza, stromboli and a sub sandwich. Everything was soooo good - it was hard to stop eating it was so good. Great thin, NY-style crust. Stromboli was to die for - huge portions so we had leftovers. My mom has celiac disease and they had a very good GF pizza. They were so in tune with cooking GF... we had absolutely no worries about cross-contamination like you do when you go out to many restaurants. Very friendly staff - great interactions with the customers. We loved it!

This is the best pizza place in Reno/Sparks by far. Everything is made fresh and they use quality products. They are from New York and have that New York "toughness", but they are awesome people and really great. If you want great pizza, you have to try them. If you have never had stromboli...it's a must! It's by far the best we've ever had!!!

after reading all of the great reviews and some of the bad ones, we decided we needed to try it ourselves. my husband is italian and his family came from italy and moved to new york. we have always wanted to try the new york pizza that everyone had been talking about and was excited that we had the chance to do so in nevada!! the second we walked in we were warmly welcomed and the staff helped us order their specialties. we had a half pepperoni and half sausage pizza. my husband does not like sausage and i dont care for pepperoni, however, it became our favorites!! the sausage wasnt rubbery and the pepperoni was just delicious. they also went out of their way to make our two boys feel special. now if your thinking this is going to be like dominoes or sauce like ragu your sadly wrong. this is the real authentic italiano way of making pizzas! so if your used to eating the fake stuff then stay there at dominoes but if your looking for the real deal, Big Apple Pizza is just for you! We cant wait to go back and try the famous subs!!

I went to Big Apple Pizza and had a 16 inch cheese pizza. Being from the east coast I can say that this is some of the best pizza I've had since i moved out here. Not only does the pizza taste like it's from NYC but the overall attitude and atmosphere of the restaurant reminds me of the great pizza restaurants from back home. This has become the only place I will buy pizza out here!

Eat in-take-out...they deliver, too! I've never had pizza pie this good. It's the real NEW YORK PIZZA!

There pizza is fresh and the sauce was great, but I had a hot pastrami sandwich with melted in your mouth. I have never tasted a hot pastrami sandwich like this one. It tasted like it was homemade. Highly recommended.

Ever feel like your lost in the shuffle when your looking for a good tasting friendly place to eat? I think we all have and I found a place that is not like the rest. The pizza is amaizing and so are the people. Their from NY but they treat you like your family not like your annoying them (like the other ny place in town). The food is wonderful and the pizza is authentic NY pizza. The sauce is tasty.. Give it a try you wont be disapointed! They have a full menu, something for everyone

I tried Big Apple Pizza for the first time today. The crust was really, really good, and it was very cheesy and just greasy enough. It is not, however, my favorite pizza in Reno/Sparks. I love love love Nu Yalk Pizza on Kietzke, and someone recommended Big Apple to me because it's much closer. I'd say it's a second best, but definitley good and satisfying. The price was a little expensive, it was $27 for a large pizza. Overall, I was fairly pleased and satisfied with the pizza.

I read reviews about there pizza and was really looking forward to giving it a try. I ordered a Med half cheese and half pineapple and ham and was charged $20.00 for a very very small med. Then when I got home with it I was disappointed again. This has to be the worst tasting pie I have every had. If this is New York Style pizza, PLEASE SEND IT BACK TO NEW YORK. The sauce was so over powering you could not taste anything else. The crust was tough (And no I did not Microwave it), it was a struggle to get one piece down, and the rest went into the trash. All I can say is save your money and your taste buds! Go GET A FROZEN PIZZA from the store, you will be happier.

Joe I was there when you tried to EXTORT money from these People. They do an benefit every year for the police and firemen. They donate a free pizza for Donations for the Police and Fireman and their causes. Yet to see you there or the students to donate. I know you are busy extorting money from other people.

They were very rude and they don't support the local school less than a mile from their store! That's just bad business when you know a lot of their business comes from the students.

Wonderful surprise to go on a vacation & find a place that actually has a gluten-free menu (let alone a pizza place!) I had GF pepperoni pizza & my husband had the New Yorker (non gluten-free) pizza. Both were so fabulous we went back the next night for dinner again & had gluten free pasta dishes. Again the food was terrific and Jeanine & Todd were such fun to talk with. They made you feel right at home. Ordered pizza again to take back home along with a side of the Alfredo sauce that we were able to taste during one of our dinners. Highly recommend going there for Pizza, pasta and sandwiches. (Need 24 hr notice for gluten-free entrees so be sure to call ahead for those). Thanks Jeanine for all the great information you gave me, big help! We'll be back.

My b/f, daughter and I all come from Central NY and I can verify, it is tough to find REALLY GOOD NY Pizza. There are a few places that come close, but this was the BEST! We got the White Pizza ....Alfredo, Ricotta, Spinach, tomato, garlic YUM! Also a kids Cheese. Todd let us try his wing sauce and fresh bread...also great! We were glad we went and will go back for sure. Our tab was about $40 for 4 beers, a refillable soda, a 16" pizza, a 10" pizza and a great time. $13 a person doesn't seem too bad to me.

Jeanine makes great gluten-free pizza. It is nice that I can enjoy pizza here just like everyone else. There are very few places I can eat out and we drive from Carson City just to have pizza. In fact I don't know of any other pizza place that offers a gluten free pizza. My husband loves the pizza as well. There is something for everyone. I would highly recommend Big Apple Pizza to everone I know. Thank you, Charlene Morehead

I've been a customer at Big Apple Pizza since they opened. I'm not a very sophisticated person, but I do know what I like, and that's a real pizza pie. I lived on the East Coast and tasted many, many pies, and subs as well, but they do not compare to the delicious home made style food that Todd makes. He makes his OWN mozzarella, dough (fresh!) and rolls, sauces, meatballs...and the meat he uses is top quality. His veggies and other ingredients are very fresh and well-selected. I popped in today for my regular 'slice', but decided to have a sub instead. I nearly fell off my chair. It was FULL of meat - huge portion - all the way to the end of the roll (not like some joints), just the right amount of 'shrooms and peppers and onions, sauteed just right and nice, creamy provolone cheese. The roll was fresh and very, very tasty. I've never EVER had anything but excellent food at Big Apple Pizza. The prices are just right - if it's too expensive for you, go buy a frozen pie at the grocery store, and see what you get. I've eaten at most of the pizzarerias in the area, but Big Apple is heads above the rest. The casual friendliness (joking aside, they're from Jersey and New York, so you're gonna get some yelling, hey, get outta here!) All the entrees are so savory and well seasoned. This is the real deal - what a pizza should be - no fancy schmancy toppings, soggy or stale bread. Best of all, no contrived, nouveau cuisine - hey, it's PIZZA for crying out loud! I challenge anyone to find a better pizza place rated on top quality food, taste, price and CONSISTENCY! I can fully depend on Todd to deliver up what I order and make it so freakin' good, I wanna cry!

I thought the pizza here was nothing exceptional, except for the fact that two pizzas cost me $50. Each topping alone cost $2, and yet when I opened my pizza box, there was literally half a tomato on my pizza. Who would have thought $2 could buy HALF a tomato? For east coast pizza, it was pretty good, but the price was horrible for what they provided.

Sparksdude, get real man and wake up. You may have lived on an island, but it wasn't Long Island, Ny, otherwise you wouldn't have written such a bogus review. Reno-Sparks has finally satisfied its craving for genuine east coast cuisine. The pizza is outstanding, the only thing missing is the ground shaking from the subway passing under your feet. The Morgan's serve up REAL NY style food, complimented with the atmosphere and personality that you would expect from an east coast pizzeria. I am from Queens, NY, and having lived there and on the east coast for 25 years, this is as good as it gets. Thanks to Todd and his crew for bringing a slice of the east to the west. A+

I grew up on Long Island, spent 18 years eating NY pizza. This stuff might look like it, but it doesn't taste like it at all. Some people say the water in NY is key, but I wasn't looking for true authenticity, just some good pizza. The crust might be the classic thin, but it's half-burnt, too. We ordered extra cheese and paid extra dough for it, but it still wasn't even as much as a normal pizza should have. It swims in grease, and the flavor is bland. I saw all the good reviews and thought it might've been a bad day (everybody has 'em) so I went back a second time- they screwed up our order, same greasy, burnt crust and barely there cheese. On top of that, the owners were brassy and rude, not just to us but another customer that was there at the same time. Maybe things have gone downhill or something, but I wanted to love this place's pie, and I'd never go again.

^ "chopper637", why the need for a personal attack? Yeah, I grew up on LI... who would lie about that?? I went and paid my money like anyone else, and tried the pizza here twice. I did not like it. If that's a "bogus" review to you, then OK, but in my opinion the guy who's apparently on a first name basis with the owner is pretty suspect. Sure you're not from NJ?

Just got back from a trip to NY City and visiting my parents when I tried Big Apple Pizza. Many people try but few succeed in copying NY Pizza like Big Apple. The pizza was fabulous and they even made a special dish for my son who is allergic to milk products (not an easy task at a pizza place)! I will make it my first stop whenever I return to visit family!
