On 11/25/11, my fiance had to go to the store to get medicine for our sick
daughter. The neighbor called Metro out to the townhome complex in which we
reside to report a noise disturbance. The claim that was our car was too
loud to drive, yet we only drive it about twice a month, and this was an
emergency. Metro came, dismissed the idea of any nuisance, no citations were
issued and matter was resolved at scene. However, because the landlord and
that neighbor are dear friends, I received a notice to vacate the premises
within 3 days. I tried to reason with landlord, agreeing to move or sell
car, and she proceeded to belittle and degrade me an tell me to leave
immediately. Vehicle is sitting inoperative, all of my papers are filed
accordingly, and yet she still accepted my rent and still served a 5 day
evicition. She contuinues to harrass me and I am not bothering her. I feel
as though she thought I was stupid and would just move, as though I would
think
I have no rights. She is prejudiced against me perhaps since I am a young,
bi-racial, un wed mother with tattoos and an alternative lifestyle. The Fair
Housing Act protects me from such things. I am an outstanding tenant and
citizen and yet she is treating me with disrespect and kindness when all I
want to do is pay her, live life as normal and get along with my neighbors.
Upon resarching this property online and her name as well, I see that she
has done this type of thing to several people that she simply didn't like.
The difference is, she was granted a straight eviction for them. I plan on
contesting this in Justice Civil Court, District Court of Appeals and then
going after her for punitive damages. I think she should be held accountable
and not treat any other tenants this way. She can't just kick people out
because she doesn't like them, especially right before Christmas when I have
a little daughter in school in the area. How many tenants has she bullied
into leaving because they did not know their rights? I am scared because
most people say landlords win. I hope I am the exception. Court date is
1/3/12.

DO NOT LIVE HERE... The on-site property manager, Toni (female), is very discourteous and extremely unprofessional. Most places I have lived are helpful within reason, this company IS NOT. I contacted the property management company, OAKWOOD MANAGEMENT in reference to the the written termination of our contract, we submitted our 30-day termination 30 days before the end of our contract, which happened to fall on the 2nd of the month, however if you do not submit your 30-day written termination on the 1st then they will not honor it until the following month, basically sticking you with another month or face losing your deposit.
I am not disputing what is in my contract. What I have a problem with is a company, any company willing to take advantage of people at whatever "angle" they can to squeeze another dollar out of you. That is just GREED.
DO NOT LIVE AT SHADOW RIDGE TOWNHOMES OR ANY OTHER PROPERTY MANAGED BY OAKWOOD MANAGEMENT. There are plenty of other properties that will take much better care of you and treat you like more than just a dollar sign....
I can also assure you that any positive review you come across is from that of an employee, probably a property manager trying to make the property they are managing look good, don't believe any of the positive reviews. I promise you that you will only be disappointed with this company and the properties they handle!!!!

I am positive that all of the Oakwood communities are as wonderful as the Pine Ridge location. I have lived here over 5 years and I don't plan on leaving any time soon.
