aug 2012 I had a 2 lbs baby , she been in the nicu for a month now and i am very happy i picked this hospital. I really do like all the nurses from labor to post care and the nicu nurses. Yes u do hear alarms go off all the time but keep in mind there are so many different alarms per baby (i count 7 on my child alone) Most are no big deal the tell them a med is done or feeding is done . The alarm that goes off the most is her oxygen alarm and that because she moves her foot but in 2 sec it reads it again. I know most nurses by name . they are always around to fix alarms answer question or just let me tell them how i feel . the physical therapist gabby is so great too ! I was very happy when my child go ill they called me and started meds to get it fixed asap. Please remember nicu infants can be great one day then bad the next . I been very blessed that my childs doing well but sometimes it does not turn out that way and nurses or doctors cant fix that.

We live in Pahrump, NV. We have a friend in this hospital. First of all, one cannot get past the general operator service for all of the valley's hospital @ the (702)853-3000 phone number. This system is totally inefficient & completely

I cannot say enough good things about this hospital. I delivered my son there a few days ago, and I couldn't have asked for a more calming atmosphere. All of the nurses were wonderful, but Theresa especially was like a guardian angel. Even

i gave birth to a premature baby girl. she was in the hospital for almost a month.. my baby was doin great, but on her 4th week in the NICU she got really sick, she had NECROTIZING ENTEROCOLITIS (inflammation of the guts), she was in life support. We asked the neonatologist what are the option to extend her life (obviously we want her to have the surgery right away) but they want to wait. to see if she will respond to all the medication and everything but our poor baby didnt. they end up doing EXPLORATORY LAPAROTOMY (to see whats happening inside her) after a week. They saw the everything was dead (guts). if they opened her while the symptoms appeared theres goin to be a high chance that our baby would live. but they were too late!. there's a way to look whats happening inside her (CAT SCAN) but they said its not goin to help at all. sh*t! obviously it will!!! u can even see if theres bleeding inside the patients by the use of it...
5 minutes before my babys surgery the surgeon talked to us she said something about her condition that the neonatologist and nurses ddint tell us!!
Also, the nurses are so lazy!!! they are not attentive at all, all they do is talk with each other on their podiums, they hear that the monitors are alarming but it took them 5-10mins before they check it. (i know every single minute is impt to the unstable babies in the ICU)...yeah there are few Nurses that were helpful and attentive to the babys.. i would not go to SPRING VALLEY HOSPITAL ever again specially if your concern is your baby.. i hope this review would help you choose the right hospital.

The Women's Center (aka Maternity Ward) is not family friendly at all! You are allowed one guest max to spend the night with the patient and if you have any children, they advise you that there are 24 daycares that can take your children. The nurse that does the tour refers to them as being snobby, but it is rather just gross arrogance. To quote the tour nurse "if you have a big Mafioso family you can take turns going in to see the patient, we do not want everyone in there at once" Thats what I call warm and fuzzy! -- Not!

They basically do not want any family to be around to participate or to celebrate in this significant event. No more than 3 people can visit you in your room at once. Essentially they do not want any family around.

If you are looking for a friendly environment that embraces family I would look elsewhere!

IF you ARE AN EXPERIENCE RN DO NOT GO WORK AT SPRING VALLEY HOSPITAL ER. THE PROBLEM STARTS AT THE CNO MARGRETT.. WHO IS WELL AWARE OF THE WORK HARRASSMENT AND HOSTILITY WORK ENVIRONMENT IN THE ER AND DRIBBLES DOWN TO LESLIE THE HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGER. THEY ARE WELL AWARE OF THE EJ LINES BEING STARTED BY NURSES BUT DOCUMENTATION IS SAID IT IS DONE BY THE MD'S. MEDS BEING DROPPED ON THE FLOOR AND STILL GIVEN TO PATIENTS, PATIENTS NOT BEING TRIAGE CORRECTLY DUE TO LACK OF EXPERIENCE. RN'S BEING HARASSED BY REPORTING THESE SITUATIONS AND THEN ULTIMATELY TRANSFERED OR FIRED. I HAVE SEEN MORE PATIENTS DIE AT SPRING VALLEY HOSPITAL ER IN A 6 MONTH PERIOD VS. WORKING AT A LEVEL 3 TRAUMA FACILITY FOR 2 YEARS. STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOSPITAL IF YOU LIKE YOUR CAREER.

I went to this hospital because my doctor goes there. Having not really heard of it, I was nervous. And there weren't very many informative reviews out there. My entire experience was excellent. From the pre-op check-in and testing to the OR staff and the floor staff, everyone was so polite, professional and friendly. The nurses were around to my room every hour like clockwork, and came right away if I called them. They were very informative and helpful. EVERY person I encountered was kind and helpful. And I couldn't get over it that I had a private room. EVERY room in the hospital is private. It is all very clean, modern, new, and an excellent environment. It will be my hospital of choice from now on. (Hoping though I won't be needing it!)

I have never had to work with such an awful manager in my 5 years of Trauma/ER nursing experience. Consider me new to the profession but I know a bad apple when I see one. I could put up with those working up the ladder. But not this one. Although the hospital claims "Zero Tolerance" of harassment of any kind and holding dear their employees. This manager has no respect unless you are the CEO or unless you kiss the ground that she walks on she will walk all over you. She will hound you in front of all staff. Constant tantrums in an adult body is what it equates to. No one deserves to have to put up with this kind of work environment. HR personell is well aware of behavior but refuses to take action.

Pros: Big brand new hospital considering it's less than 5 years old.

Cons: Hostile work environment = less functional staff.

These were the words coming from HR Lesley Irwin Hostile work environment towards staff from theEmergency Department's manager reigns here. Thismanager has no respect for staff unless you are the CEO orunless you kiss the ground that she walks on, she willwalk all over you. No matter how hard or efficient ofa worker you are it's "JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH". She willhound you in front of all the other staff. No mercy what soever. We're all baffled but no one talks back. No onetakes a stand. Needless to say I quit shortly after Iwas hired. Poor investors someone needs to tell themthe average cost to orient and train a nurse is about$40k. It's alright, only 8 of us gone. 4 more to go.Daily staffed by temp agencies who don't even get thechance to get accquainted to where things are. Needless to say run a code. Nursing shortage? I don't blame thenurses for leaving. The turn over is high here. I rather work for charity.

My delivery went smooth but my son ended up with some problems. The staff was great (for the most part) but they push formula feeding. Well some do. One of the NICU nurses was great. She taught me everything I needed and helped me out. There was once nurse that fed him formula and I didnt ask her to. She lied and said he had to be weighed and never brought my son back. Then I called and she told me he was fed and sleeping. Thats too sneaky. Great place to go if you want to (ew) formula feed off the bat..but if you want to breastfeed go in with determination and no doubts to quit easily

This hospital's baby/birthing center has every advantage of being new. Uncrowded, clean, modern, friendly staff, good security system that isn't a pain to deal with, easy to get to in a very accessible part of town. It has it all. My wife delivered c-section at this hospital and had absolutely no problems. We were given a private room and the food choices were good. The hospital was quiet, the nursury was well staffed and the Nursing staff was A+++ without having to beg or bribe as has been my experience with East Coast nurses. If you're looking for a place to have a baby - make sure you check out Spring Valley. On our last day, there were many women coming in for delivery, a sudden rush. It appeared the staff handled them competently and we didn't notice and decline in service.
