Dr. Diane was recommended to me by another vet that I knew who had an office in Carson City (too far to drive to). Since my dog was afraid of men, Dr. Diane was a perfect match. She is funny and intelligent, and i just think she has a great love for her profession. I had to put my Max down suddenly when her office was closed, yet she still sent me a condolance card. She may be more "direct" than some vets, with giving you a prognosis, but this is very welcome. I always enjoy taking my animals to her, and shall continue to do so.

Dr. Diana and her wonderful staff provide the most altruistic veterinary care to our four (previously 5) cats. Not only do they provide excellent, friendly service, but they also give you realistic options to work within your budget. This is not the office to push unnecessary scans, tests and surgeries to distraught pet owners when they are frightened about their pet's health. Instead, they will run through the costs and realistic necessities of the available treatments and hep you make the wisest decisions about your pet's health that balances with the impact on your wallet; without making you feel like you are an uncaring Scrooge.

For example, I had an elderly cat who suddenly started losing weight at 12 years of age. He had trouble breathing and seemed truly unhappy. Dr. Diana examined his blood and x-rayed his lungs. She came to the conclusion that he was suffering from bronchitis and cancer. It was painful news to hear. She offered some surgical options, but then explained that most of those would be unnecessary. In the end, through weighing her advice, we gave him a shot to clear his lungs and some appetite stimulant pills. We took him home expecting to bring him back for euthanasia within a few days. The little guy wasn't ready to go! He actually lived for two more years, going in to see Dr. Diana for the occasional treatment for his low weight and weak lungs. During those two years he went from being the only cat in our household to the top cat of five kittens. He lived joyfully in charge of his brood during those extra two years alloted to him. When this cat finally started to feel the pain of his cancer we took him in to Sierra View Animal Hospital for his final shot of euthanasia. I was allowed to hold him in my arms until his final breath left his body. The entire staff was very compassionate and supportive. Not only did they help my family through this sad event, but they also remembered to ask about our other pets by name.

I've had pets for all of my adult life. I've been to many veterinarian offices and the standard seems to be that they try to upsell treatments and expensive tests when I am feeling most vulnerable about my pet's well-being. I have been happy to find that Sierra View Animal Hospital does not follow this malicious policy of draining a pet owner's wallet when they are worried about their pets. The advice is always reasonable and honest. This office is professional, honest, and truly compassionate about the entire family, not just the pets! I will not leave this veterinarian for as long as I live in Northern Nevada and I recommend it to all my friends with pets,
