This is an amazing place to see. Definitely check it out if you are nearby in either Nevada or Arizona, as it sits in both states. The story behind the construction is amazing, and the view is spectacular. Walking across it is wonderful, too. There are guided tours and gift shops, but you can also see this landmark location without partaking in the tours and get plenty out of it.

Wow, the Hoover Dam is breathtaking. So enormous, and is truly in both Nevada and Arizona. A sight definitely worth seeing if you will be in the area. You won't believe how high you are as you walk across the top of the dam, and the history of the number of men involved and how it was made is truly amazing. So scenic and historic.

The Hoover Dam is a remarkable structure. Take a walking tour and you'll be treated to an informative history of the dam's construction and its energy-producing capabilities. Its a great tourist stop and definitely worth your time!

Getting to the dam is a lot of aggravation, as a result of large crowds and horribly congested traffic, but I think it is worth it. Once at the dam, you'll be treated to their signature tour "Walk the Top", a fully guided walking tour over Hoover Dam. Their guides aren't just fun they are also highly informative and will enlighten you to history of this magnificent structure. It's obvious to anyone that the dam is an engineering marvel, but the more you learn, the more amazing it becomes.
You can gain access to the top of the dam and to the observation deck at no charge, but you need to purchase tour tickets to see the generators. The tour also includes an excellent audio-visual presentation on the construction of the dam. Try going first thing in the morning to avoid the traffic.

We visited the dam on Sunday, August 14th, 2005. The construction that is going on caused a massive traffic flow problem. It took us over an hour just to get to the dam once we turned off of I-515. When we did get there, parking was scarce (note we did not choose to pay for the inside garage). The difficulty with the traffic made this a less than satisfying experience. I recommend visitors put this one aside until the construction is completed a few years from now.

PROS: Historical landmark
CONS: Accessibility

When visiting Las Vegas this is a must. It truly is a wonder and sight to see. The views of nature are outstanding and the view of the Dam is a marvel. You can take a tour of the Dam that takes you from the top to the bottom. There is a place to find food and buy gifts. Parking is not so great. You park along a two lane highway but they are working on that problem. Because of 911 there are still some truck restrictions but cars are allowed. Lots and Lots of water !

This is the place you must visit when you come to Las Vegas. You'll be amazed by the size of the Dam. It's a great place to take photos. The parking space is very limited and there are a lot of walking. Wear hot and sunglasses of you go because the can get really hot there.

When you arrive you are given a guided tour through an area where they explain about the dam and how, why and how many people it took to build it. You then get to take the elevator down 500 foot to the inner workings of the dam. The last leg you are unguided to walk the dam, lunch or just enjoy the sites which are absolutly beautiful.
