Called up to schedule a diesel smog was told it was around 40 dollars +,where as sierra diesel injection on Mill St charges 35 bucks, not to mention the person who answered the phone said thanks for calling nevada.... I was confused, I didn't know if I had called the state or this high priced repair shop.

Mabeye I'm confused,\r\n\r\nWhen I walk into a mechanic shop I dont usually expect my own personal pillow fluffer and a bottled water. Its a shop so I expect men, dirt, tools, and no nonsense additudes. I would be a little perturbed if I was the owner and I was having a coverstion with my employee while a customer was evesdropping. They have always been fair and reasonably priced to me. Then again I didnt expect anyone to escort me to the first class section of the shops waiting room.\r\n\r\nRespectfully,\r\nJ. Santos

I took my new truck in to get a smog check (used truck, but new to me) and it failed because of not having a catalytic converter. Its a diesel and seems to be common that guys that dont smog their trucks remove as many restrictions in the exhaust as possible, I know this, but didn't realize my new rig didnt have one. I obey the law and wanted to get it fixed and move on. \r\n\r\nWell, the owner was completely rude and stated he should turn me in for a $2000 fine for removing the catalytic converter. It was pretty obvious the truck was new to me, but he didnt care. I asked for a quote to get the truck fixed....I recieved a piece of paper that included two line items: parts = $520 labor = $250\r\n\r\nThe total came out to $827 after taxes plus I would have to pay again for another smog check once the work was complete. I asked for something with a little more detail as this seemed pretty steep for just replacing a catalytic converter. The owner scoffed at me and said that was the best he could do until he had the truck in the air and was performing the work and he couldnt guarantee there wouldnt be any unforseen aditional costs since it had a custom exhaust system. So the estimate was pretty useless in my opinion.\r\n\r\nWell, I am fairly mechanical so I decided to price out the parts myself. A quick tip to to summitracing, I bought a high flow 4"" catalytic converter and exhaust clamps for $293. Within literally 24 minutes of getting home, I had a sawzall, cut my exhaust, and installed the new catalytic converter. It was WAY too easy. The next day took it to Sierra Diesel Injection and told them my story. They looked at my truck and said it looked good and then they performed my smog check. Passed with flying colors. So I asked them what it would have cost for them to fix the truck....$465. Thats almost half what Nevada Auto Diagnostics ""quote"" was. \r\n\r\nWhat a joke of buisness. Poor customer service and looking to screw their customers with rediculus prices. There are a lot of good mechanics in Reno looking to earn your buisness. Take your vehicle somewhere else.

Stay as far away as possible! These guys will steal you blind if given half a chance! They pull vacuum hoses, replace working parts with old used parts, cut fan belts, and use every high pressure technique in the book. They are currently under investigation by the City of Reno and the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles for ripping off customers to the tune of thousands of dollars. Do yourself a favor and take your car to a good garage. You'll be saved lots of money and a huge hassle.

I arrived and was never greeted just asked bluntly, ""you here for a diesel smog"", I said yes, he grabbed the registration card out of my hand and walked away. He told me to get my wife out of the car. I guess this was the owner because while my wife and i were sitting in the dirty waiting room he was talking to another employee about taking a fellow employee out back and beating him up. \n\nThe owner was rude the whole time and even told me not to move my registration card when i went to get it back from the front desk. \n\nIf you want the worst service in reno and the highest prices go to this place. terrible!!!

Twice I had to bring my car in for some fairly serious repairs and twice I was greeted in a friendly manner. They took the time to research my problem and, even though I came in close to quitting time, they took my car in and repaired it. They didn't play games. The estimate they gave me was what they charged - in fact it was a bit less. They did not come back and "find other problems." The work was done right the first time.
I plan using NAD in the future and would recommend them to my best friends.

I brought my car in twice. I plan on bringing my car to NAD whenever needed. When other dealers quoted me prices higher than I thought reasonable, NAD did the work for a price I considered FAR more reasonable. Once the work was done, it was done WELL: no further problems, no added expenses.
