On thursday I brought both of my miniature schnauzer , brother and sister , both 6 years old , into sun city . I had Dr..Brooks . She was nice , but she misdiagnosed both of my dogs . My girl dog Maya , had a swollen eye and the underneath of her eyelid was filled with blood . The dr. said she had bruising around her eye . So they gave us 2 kinds of eye drops , eye ointment , and a pill . But what she failed to do was give my dog a full head xray . Now you would think if there was bleeding and bruising , there must have been a crack or something in her skull . Like a concussion . But she didn't . So we brought Maya home and she was fine and her eye was getting better . Next day I come home early to check on her , to find her dead ! She was 6 years old . Her death could have been avoided if she wasn't misdiagnosed . Now Matthew , my other dog , was first diagnosed with pancreatitis. And he put him through a series of tests , to find out all of his systems were failing. So we put him down . But to lose two dogs in two days , that's not right .they messed up .

I have been taking my dogs to Sun City Animal Hospital for over 14 years. My current companion, a yellow Lab, developed diabetes over a year ago. Dr. Warner has given him wonderful care. The care, compassion, and support I have received from everyone there has been more than I could have imagined. Dr. Warner and the support staff of technicians have been so supportive of me, not to mention patient with me for this new level of care needed for my 10 year old companion. I have had to reach someone by phone after hours on a few occasions and a veternarian has always been there for me. The staff at the front desk have always been helpful and nice to me. I have several friends who also take their pets here and they all feel as I do.

I picked this vet because it was close to my house so it meant less travel in the car for my older dog. Can I just say that I won't ever let distance be my deciding factor again because the care and service I got here was horrible. After charging an arm and a leg to run bloodwork, it indicated that my dog had a UTI. They wanted to run another culture to see which bacteria was growing so I allowed them to which the vet said wouldn't take long. Three days go by and I hadn't heard anything plus my dog is without anitbiotics. When I called the office to find out what's taking so long, the receptionist was very rude and incompassionate. I told the vet this and because I couldn't provide a name of who I spoke with, there was nothing she could do about it. I finally got the antibiotics and was instructed to give my dog 1 1/2 tablets twice a day for 7 days. They ended up giving me two weeks worth plus charged me double. I highly recommend not going to this vet hospital. I did not like Dr. Huber or their staff. I got the feeling that money was more important to them than my dog.

Dr. Warner and the staff at Sun City Animal Hospital are wonderful to my babies! I have been a client for 7 years now and they have cared for my dogs through some very difficult times. I can always count on them for expert advice and most importantly caring and compassion for those little four legged fury creatures. If you are looking for the best look no further! Thank you Dr. Warner and team.

Dr Warner and the staff at Sun City Animal Hospital are very friendly and caring. I have 3 dogs and 2 cats and my golden retriever gets so excited when he goes in to see him. Dr Warner is very competent and also takes the time to answer all my questions. His diagnosis and treatment have always been correct. Their prices are very reasonable compared to all other vet offices I visited before coming here 6 years ago. I highly recommend Dr Warner and Sun City Animal Hospital.

I took my dog in to be checked for a urinary tract infection and get a vaccination about a week ago. I was given a prompt appointment and the staff was helpful, but I was NOT impressed with them bringing in food (especially meat at a facility that supposedly loves animals).
I had Dr. Nance who was very professional, but like a few others have mentioned, the bill was ridiculous. I anticipated paying between $100-$170, which I have gladly paid in various other states. Upon checkout, I realized they itemized the bill for several things I did NOT request. I ended up with a $300 bill! Although I think this is a an OK facility, I think they need to take a closer look at their accounting practices.
I will be looking for a more affordable and professional office to take my dog.

Having happy and healthy pets is a number one priority for us. Dr. Scott Warner of the Sun City Animal Hospital helps us achieve that goal. Unlike most doctors who zip in and out of the examining room, barely acknowledging the patient, Dr. Warner is incredibly attentive, willing to spend as much time as needed to discuss and explain good pet health. He excels at follow up, always promptly calling with a test result and subsequent explanation of any issue.
We wouldn't ever consider taking our animals to another vet. The front staff is also extremely friendly and efficient. Their extended hours also add to the excellence of the practice.

I love Dr. Knehr and his staff. They are so caring and loving to all animals. My cats are pound kitties and very nervous outside of the house. Everyone is so gentle and patient with them. I highly recommend Sun City Animal Hospital.

By the way, Dr. Lisa Labry has not been employeed at Sun City for over two year so I would ignore those comments.

I have taken my two labs to Sun City Animal Hospital for about 8 years. I have had the pleasure of having both Dr. Knehr and Dr. Warner as their doctors. The staff is always competent and friendly and eager to make sure our needs are met and expectations are exceeded. We have had two major medical problems with one of our labs in the past two years. In both situations, the staff and doctors at Sun City went out of their way to help our family, including offering to come to our house to pick up our large dog. They have offered emotional support when the diagnosis was unknown and they did not hesitate to spend extra time answering endless questions. The care my lab received from the doctors and staff was unbelievable and both doctors explained each step carefully, including the potential cost. They go above and beyond what I could ever expect from a vet. If only I had a "people" doctor that was as amazing. I recommend them to all of my friends who have pets.

Lisa Labry treated my cat for "urinary crystals" which never proved conclusive. We brought him in after he couldn't urinate or poop and they did bloodwork, sent him home, informed us 4 days later that the bloodwork showed NO blockage. Meanwhile, he was bloated and I brought him back before the bloodwork was received. Lisa Labry said he needed his kidneys flushed, and quoted $800 for a flush, but guaranteed 98% recovery in 3 days. I told her I absolutely cannot go beyond that amount and we have to talk if it is more than that. I was unemployed and struggling at the time, but my cat was only 8 yrs old. I called elsewhere for a second opinion, but due to his elevated condition I gave in. (The other vet said they would treat him the same way.) Three days later he caught an infection while under their care, so he was fighting that along with the flush. A week later and $1000 in debt, we put him down. They have no payment plans and Lisa was very detached with us. I know they have to be when dealing with sickness and death but I I saw no compassion for my cat or my financial situation. I only hope she had a softer side with my cat. I will be paying this bill for many months with interest.

1. Boxer - We took our boxer in because he had a bloody nose. They thought it was either cancer or fungal. They wanted to run several tests, but we had explained that we were financially limited. So we took him to Mauer Animal Clinic and they ran 1 test: a tissue analysis at a much smaller price. Turns out it was a nasal tumor.

2. 13 yr old cat - We took our cat in because he was losing a lot of weight even though he ate plenty. They said it was normal for cats to lose weight as they age, and the soft stools he was producing was from all the wet food I was feeding him. So, we took him in to Mauer Animal Clinic, and they said rapid weight loss and diarrhea are not normal. They ran some tests and found out it was intestinal cancer. Mauer put him on some meds to help him gain some weight and even offered to administer the pills everyday if I had trouble doing so at no extra cost.

3. 2nd cat - We took our other cat in for dental cleaning because Sun City seemed relatively cheaper. Knehr called and said he would pull 3 teeth at a total of $400. No big deal. But when I get there and pay the bill, it's almost $700! He went ahead and pulled 2 more teeth without consulting me!

We have had enough! Sun City Animal Hospital is inconsiderate, incompetent, and money-hungry. Go for a second opinion before doing anything with them. We like Mauer Animal Clinic. He is especially sensitive towards older animals.

I had a similar experience as Miranda F. I took my cat to the hospital to get her second set of shots after adopting her from the animal shelter. I took her home, only to review the bill there. The hospital had given her a rabies vaccination that she had received at Lied, and charged me an additional $10. The explanation I received after calling was that they were sorry and the reason was that they did not look over her chart. I was astonished at the lack of professionalism and care of my pet. I am lucky that she was not given anything with lasting consequences. My money was never refunded, as I was assured. I would highly recommend staying away from this Animal Hospital. Helping and keeping animals healthy seems to come second to making a profit at Sun City Animal Hospital.

I have been treating my two Yorkies with Dr. Kneer for over 20 years. I followed him from East Las Vegas to the Summerlin area where his clinc has been for many years. One of my yorkies has brain disease, and the other one had heart surgery for a congential defect and he is now 13, and being treated for a collapsing trachea and COPD. They both spent alot of time overnight in the clinic with the staff and took outstanding care for them. The staff is well trained, caring, and loving to my dogs. This clinic is a great choice for regular and acute care. I highly recommend and endorse this clinc. Margo N.

I have been going to this hospital since my older cat was 4 months old. They have been lovely with her, and my older cat before she passed on. Last week, 12/23/09, my Chihauhau got hit by two cars, it was almost 8pm. I called and Dr. Nance said she would wait for us. We finally got there about 8:30pm, she was there and was wonderful with my little Lucky. He ended up with a muzzel, but she was good with him, having expected the nipping. Lucky is getting used to having a broken leg, and had a wonderful expecience that has not tramatized him. And my Valkyrie, is always ready to go to the vets. And the front counter girls are wonderful always ready to play with, or cuddle with the animals as they come in.

This truly an animal's hospital! They took care of our dog for the past 3 years. Last month, our 14 year old heeler went into seizures in the middle of the night and the night shift transferred me directly to the Doctor. Dr. Heuber met us at the clinic -- in the middle of the night! Dr Heuber did a thorough check-up and immediately gave our dog medication to keep her from further pain. Unfortunately it was time to let our poor girl go; but, the compassion and caring shown by both the doctor and night staff was very comforting. Let it be known that professional service can be counted on at the Sun City Animal Hospital!

Dr. Werner asked for my dogs' previous medical records and when I faxed it in to him personally he failed to make sure my dogs vaccination records were updated in her chart. I had continuously been mailed a card saying she needed her rabies shot which she had already had elsewhere. After I called the office they advised me to disregard and she is up to date. One year later, I was mailed a card stating she needed 3 vaccines (sans the rabies). I called the office and was quoted $55 on the phone. After her exam and shots I was advised my total was $65. I asked what the extra $10 was for and the told me for the Rabies Vaccine. They gave her a vaccine which she did not need. I only hope this does not have an adverse reaction. Dr. Werner personally does not handle himself in a way that is tactful and displayed a complete lack of class when dealing with him. In additon, he obviously did not follow up when he got my dogs records faxed - To make sure her records were correct given our conversation in person. This facility and Dr. are completely negligent and I would not ever reccommend them given my experiences. I thought their only fault as with most vets were trying to rack up the bill which Dr. Werner had no problem doing on our first visit suggestion unneccessary medications and x-rays, but the extent of thier poor medical practices in completely upsetting!

i've taken my little scout there since she was a kitten. only reason i dont give a 5 (shd really be a 4.5) is b/c there was one bad visit (in all the times i've gone there). bobbi (up front) is wonderful as are the vets, esp Dr. Labry. what i truly love is that no matter what i bring scout in for, they answer questions for me so i am a better caregiver for my cat. Also, g-d bless Bobbi for the special care she provided for scout while i was hospitalized. truly wonderful person.

I used to take all my animals here until one of the vets here really made me mad. My puppy fell in our pool in the morning. By the afternoon, after work, he sounded wheezy so I took him in. This is a puppy that we were not keeping but from an unplanned litter and he would be going away. The girls took the puppy away and said the vet would be out soon to talk to me. When he did come out, he showed me xrays with fluid filled lungs and said his prognosis was not good. AND he had started and IV, gave him a catheter, gave him other injections etc. all without asking me what I wanted done. I told him with a bad prognosis to put him down. I had to sign for this. No where did I ask for the bloodwork to be done or anything else above the xrays that would have told me all I needed to know at that time. I left paying $340 and came home empty handed. The xrays were 45 and the euthanasia was under 100. I wrote and told him what I thought of padding my bill. Just like someone who has auto work done. If you come in for brakes they don't just add on a transmission. That is unethical. But with society the way it is today, no one seems to recognize ethics in the first place. If the vet had come out and said... this is what I can do, bloodwork, cath, IV, IM, etc, I would have said no. But I was not enlisted in this decision. I had a precious dog that was wasting away. I had her teeth cleaned there because she didn't eat. I thought her gums hurt is why I did it. $100. 2wks later she couldn't stand up, she was yellow, obvious liver damage, probably that dog food poisoning from not catching a common fungus. At that time they asked if I wanted bloodwork etc to find the cause. I said no, she's too sick put her down. That was a different vet. I don't even know their names. The morally flexible one is younger, mid 30s brown hair white male. FYI.

FYI.

The staff here is very nice and remembers my animals names every time we come. We brought my puppy Zoey here when we thought she was going to pass away but they were able to keep her over night and give her IV's that revived her and made her good as new. These are caring people that know what they are doing!

Our cat went here for an emergancy visit and they took excellent care of him! Even the follow up visits went well. They explained everything...how to help my cat get better, what meds to give when, etc.

PROS: excellent care
CONS: too far from our home

Whole staff is great, kind, accommodating. Kudos to Dr. Knehr, who helped us through the loss of 2 beloved family pets. He treated our current dog for seizures, we called him immediately. He was able to save our beloved dog and now she is a fine, healthy senior. We are so thankful to Dr. Knehr and his staff.

Also, I work in the medical field, and they always ask for an SS#, It is a common practice. Don't cut them off your list just because of a question you disagree with.

They also work with you if you cannot have a procedure done due to cost issues. Just ask.

Pros: Plenty of parking, staff is helpful at getting in sick animals ASSP. Pet boarding is safe and secure.

Cons: Dog and extremely stressed cats (in carriers) are together in waiting room.

they ask you to sign a release form with lines to check for additional, optional procedures with a description & price. They ask you to sign, then they check things off themselves behind your back, then present you with a bill way above the quoted price. They will try to scam you if you don't pay attention. That's probably why they ask you to fill out a questionnaire form that asks you for your social security number. That way, if you get mad & refuse to pay them....they know who you are so they can file in small claims. F-ing scam!!!!
